Birch Forest
Macpap
Unease shivered down the warriors spine, dark clouds covering up the warmth of the sun's bright rays. “Stick close to me.” He tried to conceal the worry in his tone, his large body instinctively moving close to Paprika in his own attempt to block part of the winds from her. The two lovebirds took it upon themselves to go patrolling the new territory even before the dawn patrol left. Since the move they had been so busy, not any time to just be together until now.
Macawblaze wished he had convinced himself to turn back the moment the sky turned dark but now he and Paprika were nothing more than a shivering mess of wet pelts. Macawblaze was also hesitant to admit he was lost, their scents did not have the same potency as their old land, it was easily overpowered by the storm. They should have been home a while ago now. “We need to turn back.” His voice trying to remain calm but an unfamiliar tremble lacing it.
The warriors were used to rain, it was nothing new but their new territory offered new heights and with it a new chill. Macawblaze, also was learning to get used to the new terrain of the mountains, during rainy days he never liked how his paws would slip and slide if he wasn't too cautious.
His fears were soon recognized as he felt the earth shift beneath his paws, a panic filling his eyes when his gaze fell upon Paprika. “Run.” He advised as small debris particles kicked up in their faces, not far behind the debris the earth was rushing towards them, knocking down trees in its path. The heavy rain caused a landslide just before their eyes.
Macawblaze turned tail, his paws covered in mud the weight of his wet heavy pelt slowing his pace, constantly looking to check in on his mate. They needed to find higher ground, the landslide had the advantage in this race. “Up there Pap!” His nose gestured towards a small incline along the side of a ridge that led up to a higher ledge. Slowing his pace even more to allow the molly to climb up first, using his large head to support the hind end of Paprika. Once she was safe on the high ledge, Macawblaze leapt up his claws gripping the soggy earth, his hide legs scratching at the side of the ledge trying to get a grip as the earth constantly gave underneath his weight.
It wasn't long before he could feel the mud from the landslide tickling the bottom of his paws, he knew in mere moments he’d be swept away with it. “I love you.” Offering his mate a cheeky ‘I'll be okay’ smile before his claws began slipping, allowing his body to go limp as the landslide engulfed his body.
Just as quickly as the landslide appeared, it dissipated leaving behind various sizes of sticks and logs, small trees, and other minerals. It also left behind a large pelted feline, his once bright red tabby pelt was almost unrecognizable as it was stained brown from the mud. Macawblaze ratted pelt moved slowly up and down with his shallow breaths.
