Thornkit
“I want all three of you to be careful, please.” Aurora said softly as she looked down at Scorchkit before leaning down to smooth a piece of fur that was sticking up on the top of his head. The black and golden molly had been very busy this afternoon, as the molly had made sure that Firestar, Scorchkit and Thornkit were fed and the boys were properly groomed for an outing with their father. Today, Firestar wanted to teach Scorchkit, Thornkit and Tumblekit to climb trees.. However, Tumblekit didn’t want to participate in today’s activity but rather hang out with his mother and sisters. Thornkit was sitting next to his father, his tail fluffed up in excitement and was bouncing slightly in his spot. The dark brown tabby had been overjoyed when hearing that himself and Scorchkit would be taken outside of the camp, and learning how to climb trees.. As pranking within camp was getting more difficult, especially when he was trying his best to not get caught.. But for some reason, Thornkit felt like Firestar knew about his pranks towards the elders and senior warriors.. Or Thornkit was very good at being sneaky, he wasn’t quite sure yet.
“Most importantly, listen to your father” Aurora said, leaning down to touch Thornkit’s head with her pink nose. If Aurora was being honest, she was glad that the boys would be spending the afternoon with their father. Those two kept Aurora on her toes everyday, when it wasn’t Scorchkit jumping off dens and small rocks within the camp.. It was Thornkit who somehow would find a beetle and stick it in the nursery, causing Littledove or the other queens to panic while their children would be chasing after it. Aurora was nervous to let all six of their kits begin their climbing lessons, as she wasn’t the biggest fan of climbing while also remembering Claypath’s accident.. But Firestar had gently reminded her that their children were growing up, they couldn’t be protected from her for the rest of their lives. Moving towards the massive ginger tabby, Aurora nuzzled her face into his neck for a moment before leaning up to peck his lips “I hope you guys have fun.. I love you” She whispered softly to him, moving to her boys and kissing them each on the head before beckoning her head towards the entrance “Well, what are you waiting for? I could hear those trees calling for you already.” She teased them, and waved her tail in farewell to the three toms as they made their way outside of camp before retreating back into the nursery to look after the four remaining kits.
“Dad! I wanna climb the biggest tree!” Thornkit said the moment that they had stepped out of camp, rushing ahead of Firestar. His amber eyes lit up when hearing Scorchkit’s pawsteps running after him. He and Scorchkit were attached to the hip, his eldest brother always took risks for the thrill while Thornkit always encouraged him. Their poor mother always remained patient when the two brothers were pulling their antics, but one thing's for certain… Thornkit and Scorchkit listened to Firestar (For the most part). Thornkit suddenly went on his hind legs when he was close to a tree, and was observing it carefully “I don’t like that one, too much snow.” He said, making a disgusted face before running off to the next tree. It seemed like his ginger brother was looking for a tree too, it was quite the milestone.. Climbing your first tree!
“Scorch! Are you going to attempt to ride a hawk if we see one?” Thornkit questioned his brother, looking back at him. Scorchkit was the eldest of their litter, him and Tumblekit were already getting bigger than Thornkit and their sisters.. Would a hawk be able to carry him? Perhaps they could test out the theory if Thornkit was able to hold down a hawk while Scorchkit can climb on it’s back. eef100

Despite his father boastful laugh, the sound loud and booming, but he kept the innocent smile on face. He Was not as foolish as his brother, he would not be giving away any secrets. Although he did smirk as it was clear that his father did not believe him to be as innocent as he was trying to paint, grinning with a small shrug of his shoulder. Thornkit on the other hand was trying to convince their father that he was a good little tom. Pale lavender eyes flickered towards the dark brown ticked tabby, laughing softly and moved to where he brushed up against the slightly shorter tom, letting out a small trill. “I did give him another berry though.” He nodded, long legs carrying him after his brother and father.
Ears perking up curiously, as Firestar was gesturing towards the oak tree, nostrils flaring slightly. Wow.. this tree was so much larger than he could’ve ever imagined. That being said, he was far from feeling intimidated, in fact he was feeling challenged as his father’s orange eyes were gazing at them as if in a silent challenge. Smiling, he gave his brother an encouraging flick of his tail against Thornkit’s flank as his white paws pressed into the leaf littered ground, pupils narrowing as the muscles in his haunches flexed.
Jumping onto the root of the tree, chin tilting back as he gazed up towards the tree. Breathing in the scent of the unknown tree before turning back towards her father, grinning cheekily. “Let’s get started.”
Thornkit
Skyclan Kitten
His amber eyes lit up in amusement, Thornkit loves his dad so much. The brown tabby tom wanted to be just like his father when he grew up. Scrunching his nose up in amusement, Thornkit looked up at his father with a bright smile “You’re lucky that I love you Daddy, otherwise I would have unleashed my snowy fury on you!” The smaller tom squeaked, his tail waving back and forth in happiness. Thornpaw absolutely loved spending time with his family, always cherishing the moments of whenever his mother spoiled her babies or their father playing with them (Even when he sat on them and making them declare that he was the more favorite parent)
A pout escaped Thornkit when Scorchkit had declared himself as a well-behaved kit, as if. The dark ginger tom was extremely mischievous and was one of main troublemakers of the litter, besides Thornkit. However laughter escaped him when Firestar had let out a hearty laugh, and shook his head in amusement when looking at Scorchkit and teasing him. The brown tabby went towards his father bumped into his foreleg and made a face. If his brother was going down, Thornkit would go down with him “He is! Scorchkit did something very nice for me the other day” Thornkit defended his brother, and a sly smile appeared on his face.
Thornkit was such a troublemaker.
“Just the other day, Scorchkit gave me an extra berry after I had finished the snacks Mama had given us.. He’s so kind” Thornkit said, turning to give his brother a nod of approval. No matter what, those two would stick together no matter what. Following after his father, he looked around at the forest. It was very beautiful, the snow creating such beautiful scenery around the three felines. Thornkit couldn’t wait until he became an apprentice, to see the beauty of Skyclan’s lands every single day when going out to train with his mentor. He was so excited to think of it, Thorn couldn’t wait to tell Finchkit about his day either.
This would definitely be one of the best days ever.
Thornkit’s mouth opened in awe in sight of the oak tree once Firestar had stated they had arrived at their climbing spot. Looking over at his brother, a bright grin appeared on his face. Finally they arrived! The brown tabby was excited to start climbing, his mother had sat the two brothers the night before and explained that they must listen to Firestar’s every word when on a tree. Their older brother Claypath had spoke with them as well, explaining gently that accidents could happen if they weren’t careful enough. Although the two brothers were goonies, they wouldn’t do anything to risk themselves any harm in the end.
“Ok Daddy, you must show us! Do it!” Thornkit demanded, his tail waving back and forth in excitement as he couldn’t wait to start this lesson.
Firestar |The Courageous Lion of Skyclan|
Firestar was certainly starting to second guess himself if he could handle these two rowdy boys. Their endless amount of energy seemed to drain his, shaking his rugged mane as he snorts with amusement at watching Thornkit and Scorchkit play amongst themselves. They were slowly reaching their destination, if only Thornkit would stop distracting his brother and himself. “Life isn’t fair! Just have to accept that I won.” He teases with a playful grin on his maw as he glances down at the pouty lipped brown ticked tabby kit. “Now come along, you two are the ones that begged me to convince your mother to take you out. Don’t let me regret this” he mutters the last part to himself, too low for his sons to hear. After their little detour and having to cover Thorn’s mouth with his tail, and demanding that Scorch come out of the abandoned rabbit hole, they were finally on the right track. He could not help but wonder if him and honey were like this when they were kits? His memories of his younger years were faded, as he had tried for so long to forget the memories of growing up with an neglectful depressed mother.
Frowning slightly at the thought, maybe it wasn’t so bad for his kits to be rowdy. It was refreshing to know that his kits would grow up with loving parents, that they will grow up to be happy and able to accomplish anything they set their mind to. That’s all Firestar could ask and hope for. Ignoring Thornkit’s bait, flicking the flecks of snow off of his flaming ginger pelt with one swift flick of his tail. “Nice try” he playfully scowls at Thornkit before smiling slightly. Arching a brow as his interest is peaked, now what secret was the little goon keeping from his mother? Obviously it wasn’t good. Playing along as he crouched down, turning his head so his ear was in the direction of Thorn, ready to be let on in the secret. Oh he remembered listening to Auroraskies rant about the little cricket incident about a moon ago. He had speculated that it was probably one of their troublemakers, but his mate had denied such a claim.
Their kits could do no wrong in the eyes of their mother, and he knew that Thornkit and Scorchkit used that to their advantage—they were his sons after all. “Very clever” he muses, impressed that the kit before him managed such a thing and the fact he never got caught. “That will be another secret between us” he promises, and he would, it was a harmless prank after all. It certainly reminded Firestar of the pranks he would do when he was an apprentice. One of his favorites had been when he had snuck into the elders den while they were all sleeping and placed stink bugs all around in their nests. It was sure a sight to behold when an elder would move a certain way only to set the stink bugs off! The poor den smelt horrid for moons! Thankfully he had never gotten caught, but knew that there were some warriors and apprentices that suspected he was the culprit, but could never prove it.
Rising to his full height as he begins leading them further into the forest once more. Huffing as he listens to Scorchkit complain, wanting to know where the tree was and if they were close now. “We would have already been there if you hadn’t thought hopping around a rabbit hole was a great idea” Firestar drawls out as he lightly whacks Scorchkit with his tail. “Almost there” and they where, just a few more twist and turns, hopefully the two kits could survive that long. Pausing before the decent size oak tree, turning to face his sons to reveal that they were here. Yet, he ends up letting out a bellowed laugh, eyes closed, crinkles in the corner of his eyes as he laughs joyfully. Taking deep breaths to calm himself before looking at the dark ginger and white tom kit. “Oh yes. I am sure you are a good little tom” Firestar jokes, not believing him for a second.
“Boys, we are here! Finally.” Firestar announces as he gestures to the tree. “Who is ready to learn how to climb?”

His father clearly wasn’t pleased that he had dropped down into the deserted rabbit hole, but he couldn’t resist the prospect of the dare, looking towards his brother with a smirk before he looked back towards their father, smiling sheepishly. Could they really make a nest inside of that hole? It was a really neat idea and he was floored by it before he looked up at Firestar, the tomcat looking less than amused and perhaps a little stressed out as Scorchkit giggled. “Sorry, daddy.” He tried to soothe the tom’s worried as he stepped forward and lightly bumped his forehead against the larger foreleg of his fathers’. “Don’t be madddddd.” He smiled widely, showing off his pearly white teeth. Pale lavender eyes flickered towards his brother as he quickly walked away from his father and moved towards the brown and white tabby, lightly rubbing the side of his head against Thornkit’s shoulder blade before he followed after the massive ginger tabby as Firestar was still trying to get his boys to the oak tree to start their training on tree climbing.
Thornkit was hopping and running around in the snow, flinging snow at him and Firestar but he wasn’t taking the bait as he playfully stuck his tongue out at Thornkit before he heard the cry of a crow somewhere off in the distance. Little white ears twitched before he picked up the pace, sticking closer to Firestar’s flank with a wiggle of his nose as he was trying to spot this so called oak tree. “So where is it?” He asked with a whine, arching a small eyebrow and looking up at his father. They walked only a short distance before their father was already mentioning that they were to keep this incident to himself, smirking as if he could do that. What kind of daredevil wouldn’t want other to know of his dares?
But for now he gave a simple nod of his head, “ight, dad.” He nodded, but looked towards Thornkit as his simpleton of a brother opened his mouth to tell their father about a secret he was hiding from their mother. Flinching slightly, Scorchkit was trying to get his brothers attention, shaking his head and mouthing. ’Keep your mouth shut.’ He was trying to warn his brother but Firestar was already leaning down to see what his son had to say. Groaning quietly as he rolled his eyes up to the heavens, shaking his head slightly while licking his lips before chewing on the inside of his cheek. Well, Thornkit would’ve gotten away with it if he hadn’t opened his mouth. Shaking his head slightly, Scorchkit looked at his brother as the little tom was egging him on to tell their father a secret, smirking slightly. “I have no secrets. I am a good little tom.” See, Thornkit. Secrets were a secret for a reason.
Thornkit
Skyclan Kitten
Firestar making a snow-cat with his sons was definitely a core memory that Thornkit would cherish forever, to watch his father enjoying himself with his boys. Going towards his father and headbutting his father’s foreleg with his head, the smaller tom had quite a hard head “Dad! Not fair! You have an advantage!” Thornkit squeaked. Firestar didn’t have an advantage, but he did win the little snow-cat battle fair and square. However, his amber eyes lit up when his brother decided to climb into the rabbit hole. “Woah, he actually did it!” Thornkit said, quickly going towards the rabbit hole and pushed a piece of snow in. It wasn’t until he heard Scorchkit giggling, which caused Thornkit to laugh and start waving his tail in happiness. It was never a dull day with the two brothers, as they always came up with the most mischievous things to do around camp. Firestar’s scolding had fallen of deaf ears, as the two kits were busy giggling and Scorchkit’s voice was in a slight giggle which made the brown tabby laugh more.
“Scorch! We need to create a nest within this rabbit hole!” Thornkit said, encouraging his brother even more as the younger brother had decided they would now be living in this small rabbit hole instead of the leader’s den with their parents and other siblings. It wasn’t until Firestar’s feathery tail lightly slapped against Thornkit’s mouth to prevent him from saying more to encourage the ginger and white Maine Coon “Hey!” The brown and white tabby said in a muffled tone, his smaller paw trying to paw his father’s tail away but the ginger Maine Coon was stronger. Pouting slightly when Fire removed his tail from Thornkit’s mouth, his amber eyes lit up when spotting Scorchkit’s head popping up. “Wow Scorch!” Thornkit said in amazement as he looked at his eldest brother in complete awe. His brother was also so cool, always completing dares and being such a caring brother to all his siblings.
Watching carefully as Scorchkit climbed out of the rabbit hole, he gave the larger kit a high paw. Looking towards his father with wide eyes, Thornkit nodded as he was quite eager to learn how to climb a tree “Yeah! What are we waiting for Dad?” He squeaked, as if the little delay in learning wasn’t his fault as it was Thornkit who got distracted by the rabbit hole. Going towards his father, Thornkit suddenly with his paw went towards the ground and pieces of snow flew at Firestar. “Hehehe.” Was all you could hear from Thornkit as he turned around and darted just a couple of feet away to avoid the ginger tom throwing snow back at him. When was Thornkit going to stop being a little goon? Perhaps never. His ears perked up at the mention of keeping this little part of the adventure a secret from his mother, and a bright grin appeared on his lips before going towards Firestar
“Dad! I have a secret that I’m keeping from mom!” He said, beckoning his paw so Firestar could lower his head. When his father finally lowered his head, Thornkit was hesitant to expose his little secret.. But his father was a reliable source. “I placed the cricket in the elder’s den the other night, I thought the elders needed a friend to keep them company.” Thornkit confessed, as he swore that he heard the elders swearing all night in their den. It wasn’t until Aurora and Littledove had heard about the little accident and questioned all 12 kits. Thornkit mentioned that he hadn’t seen anything, and even mentioned that he saw Coyotekit sneaking into the den that night to say goodnight to the elders. The little kit didn’t get questioned any further from Aurora, so he suspected that he had gotten away with it. Suddenly getting up and going towards Scorchkit, he nudged his brother “Okay, Scorchkit.. Your turn to tell Dad a secret!” Thornkit encouraged his brother before looking at the sky.
“Dad, where’s the tree?!” Thornkit squealed, as he was eager to learn how to climb the tree. After many delays and a couple of secrets being exposed.. Thornkit was ready to finally climb the tree “I’m excited! Show us!” The brown and white kit said cheerfully as he nudged Scorchkit to join in as well. What a couple of goons, bless his parents and the amount of patience they had for these crazy boys.
Firestar |The Courageous Lion of Skyclan|
Tilting his chin downwards as he looks at Scorchkit, eyes glinting in amusement as his son huffs in disappointment. “Sorry son, but you won’t be doing any Hawk riding. Got to master the art of tree climbing first” he reasons, not having the heart to tell the smaller ginger and white tom-kit that he would not be riding a hawk ever, not if he had anything to do with it. Hawks were fierce and aggressive birds, predators of the sky, that tended to target smaller prey—kits being one of them. It amazes him on how short his sons’ attention spans were, as one minute they were wanting to ride hawks, now it was about snow cats and cat-angels. Shaking his large cranium as he watches the two splay out in the snow, creating little angels in the layer of snow. Grinning in adoration for his kits, wishing they would never lose their carefree spirit. Biting his lower lip as he glanced subtly around him, making sure no one was near by to witness what he did next.
“Hm now I must say those snow cat-angels are impressive…” he begins before a stress free smile appears on his features, making him appear younger than he was. “But not as good as mine!” He challenges. Lowering his large frame to the ground, thankful for his thick long ginger tabby pelt. Moving his forelegs and hind legs as well as his long feathered tail in side to side motions. Once feeling satisfied, he rises swiftly, humming in approval at his work before playfully criticizing Scorchkit’s and Thornkit’s. “What did I say? Mine is much better” he lightly teases before shaking off his pelt, snickering as clumps of snow land on the two smaller kits. Rasping his rough tongue along his wild mane a few times before gesturing for them to continue on. “No I have not rode on a Hawk, but I have killed one” Firestar admits. Hawks were not common prey for Skyclan, more of a delicacy than anything and one of his favorites to hunt when given the chance.
Grunting in displeasure once realizing that his two sons were no longer behind him. Scouring the area quickly before spotting two bundles heading off in another direction. Grumbling profanities under his breath as he rushes after them, not wanting to lose sight of them. “Boys! What did I say about running off! You are to stay were I can properly see you!” He scolds as he stops behind them. Arching a brow as he investigates just what caught Thornkit and Scorchkit’s attention. What had originally been a planned day of tree climbing was starting to become something else entirely. Eying the abandoned rabbit hole with little interest. His form relaxing slightly as he could easily tell that no rabbits had lived in the burrow for a few weeks. Humming in approval at Thornkit’s observation, pleased that his young son caught on so quickly to the faint scents.
His satisfaction was short lasting as the small brown and white tabby kit suddenly sticks his head into the hole. “Thornkit! Get your head out of there right now! Just because rabbits no longer inhabit the den, does not mean another animal could not be in there” Firestar reprimands. Though the large fiery Maine Coon knew the burrow was completely abandoned, he just wished the two trouble-makers would think before jumping head first. Sighing in exasperation, refraining from pinching the bridge of his nose. “Stop daring your brother” he warns as his gaze narrows on the brown and white kit. Glancing up at the sky for a brief moment, determining that an hour or two had gone by since the three set off. They only had a few more hours before Auroraskies was expecting them for lunch. “Now you two we need to start going if you want to learn—“ he cuts off at seeing the bottom half of Scorchkit, the rest of him halfway in the rabbit hole.
“Oh no you don’t!” Lunging forward, ready to scoop up the ginger and white little daredevil. Just when his large paw went to grasp Scorchkit, the little devil managed to shimmy the rest of the way in. Eyes widening in mild panic, what was he going to tell Aurora if he couldn’t get him out? He could only imagine what she would do. Ears swirling forwards, hunching over as he tries to peer into the hole. “Scorchkit! What are you thinking? Get back up here this instant!” The tomcat was starting to doubt his capabilities in handling these two on his own. Listening carefully, hearing muffled words of his son down below. Scowling at the yips of encouragement coming from Thorn, lightly using his tail to whack the youngling in the mouth. “Shush” he meows. After a few tense moments, a small head pops out from the hole. Ember and emerald hues lock with pale lavender. Giving the kit an disapproved look, though he could not stay angry at him for long.
Waiting until Scorchkit clambers out with little difficulty, worriedly looking over his son, making sure he had no visible injuries. These two were definitely his sons, too much like him when he was their age. Relaxing completely once concluding he was fine, “you two will be the death of me” he sighs with a warm smile on his lips. “Let’s get going! You guys want to climb a tree don’t you?” He wonders as he herds them along. “Oh and no mentioning this to your mother. Don’t want her unnecessarily worrying. It will be our little secret” Firestar says as he winks at the two before heading to the oak tree.

Huffing softly in disappointment when his father instantly shut down the prospect of rising the back of a hawk, eyes rolling to the heavens as he followed after the large tomcat. “But if I wait too long, then I’ll be too big!” Scorchkit whined, having already committed to the idea and pulling out now just didn’t sound right to him. Grunting slightly, pale lavender eyes flickering towards the fluffy brown tabby pelt of his brother, lips pressing together as he stubbornly looked back at their father before he finally gave Thornkit his undivided attention. “A snow cat?” He questioned, arching an eyebrow as he began to stalk towards his brother, little paws barely making an indention in the snow. Although he quickly smiled as his brother fell back into the snow, his legs wiggling in the snow.
Flopping down beside his brother, his tail laying across the brown and white fur of his brother stomach. “Like this?” He giggled, moving his legs in the snow to create the so called cat-angel, smirking slightly before he quickly stood up and shook out his pelt. Gazing down at his handiwork before he lightly flicked the tip of his tail against Thornkit’s nose as his brother also stood up. “Your cat-angel looks good too!” He nodded in approval, only the best could be expected from the spawn of Firestar. Huffing slightly as he quickly shook out his fur, nose wrinkling as he could feel some cold seeping through his thick pelt. “Oh, it’s cold.” He giggled, shaking out his pelt before his lavender colored gaze flickered towards the massive ginger tabby. “Have you?” He echoed the question, if his father even hinted that he had rode a hawk, then he certainly had to ride one as well.
Scorchkit was following after his brother, ears perking up as his father flicked their pelts and announced they were actually looking for an oak tree. What was an oak tree? “There’s different kind of trees?” He squeaked out, ears twitching in surprise before he shook his head. “I’ll never remember them all.” He mumbled. Although as soon as Thornkit expressed interest in something that had nothing to do with trees, he was hot on the fluffy brown ticked tabby’s heels. Eyebrows lifting in curiosity as he looked over his brothers shoulder, nose wrinkling slight as he also tried to scent what could be hiding in the hole. “A rabbit hole?” He hummed thoughtfully, but he couldn’t detect the scent, which meant it was too weak for his wee scent glands to pick up. “Hmm.” He brushed against his brother, lowering his chin to sniff at the edges of the hole while his gaze was peering into the dark burrow.
Eye widened in surprise when Thornkit pushed his head inside of the rabbit hole, ears perked and pushed forward to hear his brothers echoing voice. “Let me see!” He grinned, brushing up against his brothers side. Ginger fur mingled with dark brown as he peered into the hole. “Cool.” Scorchkit grinned, pushing his head into the hole as well to gaze around, ignoring any word of caution Firestar had to give about his sons sticking their heads into unknown holes in the ground. Lifting his head out of the hole, his lavender eyes brightening as he was dared to go into the hole. Scorchkit had never shied away from a dare and he wasn’t about to now! “You’re on!” He giggled, quickly dropping his front paws into the rabbit hole before wiggling the rest of his body down in the rabbit hole before Firestar could snag his flank. “Wow…” Scorchkit’s voice echoed in the den, his eyes roaming along the dirt ceiling that was much closer to the ground than in the nursery. But he was still able to stand up, pupils widening in the dark as he grinned and hollered.
“Hello?” He squeaked, unable to help the giggle that left him when no one responded, shaking his head in self amusement. Nose wrinkled slightly as the scent of the rabbit was a bit stronger in the burrow, small dried tufts of grey and brown brindled fur was laying in the dirt along with small and large paw prints. “Thornkit! Dad! I think this rabbit had babies!” He trilled excitedly, ears twitching at the stern voice of his father. “Oops.” Scorchkit grinned, turning on his paws, heading back towards the hole in the ground. Poking his head out, white ears twitching as his lavender gaze found Firestar. Smiling apologetically, “Well it was really cool.” Thornkit could never say that Scorchkit ever denied the dare.
Thornkit Skyclan Kitten “Yes Dad!” Thornkit called back, slowing his pace so the massive Ginger Maine Coon could see him and Scorchkit. His amber gaze was looking around, the biggest grin on his face when hearing the snow lightly crunching underneath him. “Scorch, after we finish our hawk riding.. We gotta build a snow-cat” Thorn said before letting out a small laugh, the younger brother began stomping in the snow before rolling on his back, creating a small cat-angel. “Scorchkit! Join me!” The dark brown and white tabby called and both brothers were creating cat-angels around the area. Their mother was certainly gonna be grumbling when grooming her boys’ long and wet fur when they returned to the nursery as it took certainly a while for Aurora and Fire to groom their children. Maine Coon fur was very important to take care of and each parent was careful to not miss any knot or tangle in their children’s fur, thankfully their kits learned to be more careful before getting dirty compared to Littledove and Tigersnap’s children who played in the dirt daily. “Dad, have you ever rode a Hawk before?” Thornkit suddenly asked, his eyes wide like an owl as his father had said their hawk riding would have to be scheduled for another day. Quickly rolling back over until the kitten was back on all four of his paws, Thornkit quickly shook his fur from any snow that was still clinging to it before bounding towards his father.. Only to stop midway when spotting something at the corner of his eye “What’s this?” Thornkit questioned before the smaller kit went towards investigating the little mysterious area. It seemed like Scorchkit caught interest too because the ginger kit was following right after him. Taking a slight detour as clearly Fire had thought about the perfect tree for his sons, all three of them stopped in front of an abandoned rabbit hole. Raising his head, the dark brown and white tabby tom began sniffing the area “No rabbit scent, it must have moved on.” The kit noted, as he could see the pleased expression on his father’s face as he was using his nose well.
Slowly putting his head into the rabbit hole, he saw it was indeed empty “Woah!” Thornkit said as his voice echoed slightly within the hole. His amber eyes lit up in excitement and his fluffy tail was waving back and forth in happiness. Retreating his head from the hole, the dark brown and white tom looked at his brother “Scorchkit! You gotta see how cool it is!” He exclaimed with wide eyes but the biggest grin on his face before pointing to the rabbit hole “Scorch! I dare you to jump into the rabbit hole!” He said, as his brother never denied a dare. It always got the two boys in trouble with Aurora as she couldn’t forget the famous stunt of Scorch being dared to jump off the warrior’s den, which thankfully Bear caught the ginger tom in time before Scorch could seriously injure himself.
“Dad! Do you think that you could fit in there too?”
Firestar--Leader of Skyclan
It took everything within the older tom to contain his yawn, his tired ember and emerald eyes narrow playfully at the two energetic kits. Fire was slightly regretting informing them of their plans yesterday--as Thornkit and Scorchkit had taken it into their paws to wake him up just when the sky began to lighten to signal a new day. Their awakening skills also needed work, as the two thought that laying all over him and tugging on his tufted ears was the best way. It sure was effective as even when he tried to ignore them, their persistence was unwavering. His two sons certainly needed to do something to release much needed energy. He could tell that his mate was exhausted, even when she did not want to admit so. At least he could take his two troublemakers out for some much-needed time away from camp. The ginger Maine Coon did not want to hear another queen complain about Thornkit releasing bugs within the nursery or that Scorchkit trailed mud and leaves throughout from one of his adventures.
Inwardly grinning as he watches his two sons squirm—becoming more and more restless as their mother babies them. Glancing over at Tumblekit, a soft look passing over his sharp features as he plays with Beekit. Even though he had planned to take all three of his sons out, he would never force them if they didn’t want to—he would let Tumble enjoy being a kit as apprenticeship seemed to be just around the corner. Giving Auroraskies a reassuring lick on her forehead, a warm purr escaping his lips as he boyishly grins at her. “Stop worrying…I got this. They will be fine, it’s me you should be worrying about '' he teased as he knew that Scorchkit and Thornkit would keep him on high alert at all times. “Love you too” he mutters, giving her a quick chaste kiss on the lips before turning towards the exit.
Snickering at the disgusted looks on Scorchkit’s face at his parents showing public display of affection. Reminded him of his younger brother—Honeysplash, oh how much he missed his dear brother. Shaking his mane slightly, getting rid of the bittersweet memories. “Now don’t run too far off! I need to be able to see you!” He calls after the two bundles of fur. Today would certainly be interesting and exciting! Keeping up a decent pace as he allows them to explore a little on their own, knowing they would heed his words and stick together. Firestar’s large paws press lightly into the snow-covered ground, faint crunching of ice could be heard.
Ears perking up as he observes his sons searching for the perfect tree. Humming in approval as Thorn and Scorch dismissed one with too much snow and ice—at least they had common sense not to attempt such a task for their first time. Weaving through several birch trees, the thinning branches tend to make many weary to approach. “Now no Hawk riding today, you need to master the art of climbing before attempting such a daring task. Though with your ambition, I am sure you could accomplish it” Firestar grins as he stops between them both, letting his feathered tail lightly flick against their small flanks. “Lesson number 1! For those who are just starting off with climbing need to begin with an oak tree. And I have one in mind—Come along” flicking them with his tail as he swiftly heads further into the winter bare forest, knowing these woods like the back of his paw.

For whatever reason his mother constantly worried about the state of his pelt when leaving the den. Small nose scrunching up in annoyance as she kept him caged, flattening a stubborn tuft that refused to sit flat. Grumbling as he lifted a paw to lightly swat at his mother’s chin, trying to weasel his way out of her ever watchful gaze. “Ma, I’m fine. I’m just going to climb a tree.” He grumbled, his bushy tail flashing. He was too anxious to sit here for his mother to perfectly groom his dark flaming ginger pelt, he wanted to get out there and find his tree! Pale lavender eyes flickered towards one of his brothers, Tumblekit, seeing his more laid back sibling cuddling with their sisters. Scorchkit was disappointed that he he wouldn’t be tagging along, but at least Thornkit was! “See you guys later!” He waved his fluffy tail at his siblings.
Finally his mother released him from her cage, paws moving quickly as the dark flaming finger tabby pranced outside the den in order to join his father and brother. Ginger fur rubbing against brown as he brushed against Thornkit, looking up as his mother spoke. “Yes, ma.” Scorchkit meowed, the white tip of his tail twitching anxiously. Nose scrunching up as his parents kissed, giving a disgusted shake of his head when looking away from his parents, eyes landing on Thornkit. “They are taking forever.” He whispered to his brother, head falling back as he let out a groan. Although he straightened up as his mother turned back towards them, purring softly at the kiss that was placed on top of his head. Ears perked up and pale purple eyes flashed with sudden excitement. Shoulder bumping against his brothers as the young tom took off, no longer needing further encouragement as he hurried towards the exit of camp. “Come on, Thornkit.” Scorchkit grinned, waving his fluffy tail.
Ears back and tail puffed out, the little Tom raced into the unknown, eyes wide as he looked at the trees that towered above them. Thornkit’s voice brought him out of his trance, turning his head to see his brother with Firestar. But then his brother broke free, running in a different direction, which of course he followed after! Broad paws carried him after the brown tabby pelt of his brother, eyes lifting towards numerous trees. Right now they were trying to find the perfect one, which was proving more difficult than he thought it ought to. He didn’t even know what the perfect tree would look like! “Yeah, too much snow.” He agreed with his brother, chin tilted back to gaze at the snow covered branches before following after Thornkit once more. Glancing at another tree, he looked less than impressed. “This one is too skinny.” He mumbled, rubbing his shoulder against it.
Pupils narrowed as he looked at one tree after the other, none of them exactly standing out to him before Thornkit asked a question. Lips turned up into a grin, snickering as he lifted a paw to pat at his brothers ears. “Is that even a question? Of course I’m going to ride a hawk!” Scorchkit proudly exclaimed, his tail swaying back and forth at the excitement of riding on the back of such a large bird. “Would you ride one too?” Scorchkit asked, his pelt lightly brushing his brothers as they walked together.
