His dark green gaze was watching Stormykit, eyes narrowed as he was watching his son padding around the nursery. Edge could tell that his son was attempting something no good, but the large Maine Coon couldn’t figure out what was going through his son’s mind. Out of this second litter, Stormykit was the one that kept Edge on his toes.. Not that he minded, as Stormykit brought the tom some entertainment with his little antics when he started messing with the elders. Snowstar seemed to let their son get away with a lot too, or turned a blind eye. Letting out a small snort as he couldn’t help but think about that, their sons were Snowstar’s angels, they could do nothing wrong.
“Alright, we’re heading into the clearing.. I’m getting tired of you stalking around like a little badger.” Edge said, getting up and flicking his tail to signal for his son that they were heading outside. Maybe some fresh air will do Stormykit some good.. Looking over, Edge saw that his first and second litter were sleeping soundly in their huge nest. It has been quite a journey for Snowstar and Edge in raising their two litters that were moons apart, but Ede enjoyed every second of being a father to his boys.
Letting out a small sigh as he noticed that Stormykit was out of the den first, Edge followed him. His eyes squinted slightly in the sunlight and he grunted a bit. Damn Sunlight. Around him, cats were repairing the dens and moving debris away from the avalanche. His mate was making sure that everything had ran smoothly, Edge was on the early morning crew in making repairs to the dens. It would take time, but everything was slowly coming together. Turning to look at Stormykit, he looked around “Alright Stormy, what’s our plan?” He questioned his son. Of course he knew Stormkit had something in mind, he might as well join in and see what the little goonie was thinking in his little evil mind. 77ff64

He arched an eyebrow when noticing that Stormykit kept looking back at him when gathering up the mouse bile. The large black and gray tom had merely shrugged. Edge thought part of parenthood was also helping his children developing their own personalities. When he was an apprentice, his adopted mother Swanpath had also let him develop his own personality. Was he troublemaker quickly into his apprenticeship? Yes. Did it delay his warriorship? Sure, but Darktorrent could eat rocks for all he cared. It was almost poetic Justice that Edge managed to have somewhat of a happy ending while Darktorrent was busy moping around these days and looking like a couple of rats stepped on his prey and he was displeased about it.
“Kid, remember this secret remains with us.” Edge said, giving his son a pointed look. He knew that he wouldn’t hear the end of it from Snowstar if she found out her mate also partook in mischievous activities with his son. Although a lot of felines had thought that perhaps being mated to Snowstar would change him, he didn’t see any change in his behavior. But again.. A Tiger couldn’t change his stripes so easily if he wanted to. Unfortunately for everyone, this was who Edge was.. Maybe he just wasn’t meant to change, he was supposed to remain this way forever.
He let out a small shrug and snort, why was he overthinking it anyways? Everyone loved his shining personality.
Watching his small son making his way into the nursery first, Edge moved until he sat nearby. Half of the attention was on Stormykit who was placing the mouse bile carefully into the nest, while another part of him was watching out for anyone that was entering the nursery. A rule of thumb? Always observe your surroundings and don’t admit to your mistakes easily. Once his son announced that he was finished, Edge looked at the nest for a moment before nodding in approval “Good. You easily made sure that the bile was hidden, make sure if you always get the job quickly but effectively.” Edge said, to which he was glad that Stormykit did.
“Rule 1, never admit to your mistakes or ever snitch.. You always gotta make sure that you look after yourself or those you cherish.” Edge said, patting his son on the head with his large paw. He was quite proud of his troublemaker. Getting up, the tom beckoned his head towards the direction of the entrance “Come on, they’ll be back soon.. Act normal, we’ll sit nearby so we can listen to the reactions.” Edge muttered, moving towards the entrance of the nursery and allowed Stormykit to exit first. He would allow his son to pick the spot.

It seemed as though Edgefrost wasn’t going to reprimand him for his devious little scheme. If anything, it looked to him as though his father might even be encouraging him to misbehave. Stormykit eyed the large tom, suspicious of his easygoing, relaxed appearance before he deduced that not even Edgefrost would be cruel enough to encourage him to act out and then punish him for it later.
“Alright then,” he smirked, his tail shooting right up.
He gathered the bile up onto a leaf big enough to herd it together and he wrapped it up securely enough that it wouldn’t leak out into his own mouth when he was carrying it. He was aware of Edgefrost’s eyes on the back of his head but he wasn’t going to act like it unnerved him. He was braver than that!
As the two of them made their way back to the nursery, Stormykit stuck his chin up high and entered the den without hesitation at Edgefrost’s invitation. If his father was testing him, he’d learn to regret being too lenient soon enough. He wasn’t going to back down now.
With his mother absent for the time being, the nests were clear. It was the middle of the day, prime prank time with the kits being out for play and mothers taking time for themselves. He set his leaf down with care, the bile nearly oozing out of it now that it had been released from its confines. Stars, it was gross. Surely, something this stinky and contaminated would taint the entire nursery with its order in no time. Wrinkling his nose, Stormykit used one paw to hold up a side of Twilight’s nest and a stick to shove the bile in with another. Once it was rolled in far enough, he carefully patted the down enough to hide at least the sight of what was to come.
When he finished, the little kit looked back at his father and smirked. “What’s done is done.”
Edgefrost Riverclan Warrior Arching an eyebrow when looking at Stormykit, he knew straight away that his son was up to something. Edge was the more relaxed parent with his sons, not wanting to interfere with his sons’ growing personalities as much. The large black and gray Maine Coon followed after his son carefully, nodding at his son’s words. It was a harmless prank in Edge’s opinion, he faced much worse when he was a kitten within the city growing up in his father’s gang. “Go on.” Edge said, wanting to hear more of the reasoning why Stormykit wanted to head towards the dirt pile. Once explaining that it was to prank the new rogue kitten, Edge hesitated slightly. He wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to partake in this activity, as Edge wasn’t born within the clans. But Edge supposed that he had more of a backbone growing up and facing the wrath of some clan kits with grace. Besides, he wouldn’t step in unless Stormykit went too far into his schemes. “Alright, lead the way.” Edge said, watching his son starting to gather up the bile in a leaf. His dark green gaze was watching the small tom carefully before seeing that he was done. Beckoning his head towards the direction of camp, and watched Stormykit walking in front of him with his tail high. Stormykit reminded Edge of Sleetkit, both brothers wanted to do whatever they wanted and got away with anything when it came to Snowstar. His mate wanted their children to live a normal life, wanting their boys to know that she loved them no matter what. Edge was very proud of his boys, letting them express whatever they want. The tom had an unconditional love for them, he would be their protector no matter what. It wasn’t until the father and son duo were in front of the nursery, Edge looked towards Stormykit and nodded to him. “Ok Kiddo, Go right ahead.” The large black and gray tom said, following his son into the nursery. It appeared that his 1st and second litter were still with Snowstar in the leader’s den, which meant Stormykit had enough time to ensure that he could do his prank without anyone having to arrive and disturb him. Watching his son with the leaf of mouse bile, he wanted to see if his son could pull this off.

It had only been a few days since he and his siblings had opened their eyes, and his nickname had already been dubbed “mischief-maker”. Little Stormykit tended to get into more trouble than his siblings by far. He had made a mess of their nest, putting out reeds with his needle sharp claws, managing to rip up the silky soft feathers lining his mother’s nest in the process. While, surely, the queen was not happy about it, she had not scolded him too roughly. Snowstar was very loving and also very forgiving. Her best intentions aside, the RiverClan leader certainly was enabling his mischievous streak. It only encouraged him to act up even more.
Speaking of enablers, his father was no better, really. Edgefrost actually seemed to encourage his behavior more-so than his mother did. While his mother didn’t necessarily punish him, it didn’t mean that she approved of his nonsense. However, his father appeared to want to participate in the misconduct he caused.
His Clan might be in the process of repairing the camp after the avalanche, but Stormykit had other priorities. As he slipped out of the nursery, the little tom-kit made his way towards the edge of the dirt tunnel. He had noticed that the medicine cats had been disposing of their used mouse bile there lately and it served him well for his latest scheme.
The little tom nearly jumped out of his pelt at his father’s voice. Icy blue eyes narrowed in defiance towards his own scare, he faced Edgefrost. “This,” he motioned towards the bile with a paw, which then pointed at the nursery, “Twilight’s nest.” Twilight was a rogue kit who had joined RiverClan recently, right around the time he and his littermates were born. She was a pain in his side with all her nagging and he felt that perhaps she needed to be taught not to get on his bad side.
