‘This whole ordeal has made me doubt things about myself. I want to know more about where I come from, and… The only way I can do that is to find Wisteriastar and Hornetstar. They’re my parents.’
It felt like blood was rushing through Cherrypaw’s ears at Wasppaw’s sudden confession, her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at the calico tom as if he grew another head “...What?” She simply said, shocked. The image of the former Riverclan warrior flooded through Cherrypaw’s head at the memories of seeing her grandmother performing her leadership duties at the entrance of the nursery and also coming to visit at the nursery after she had finished for the day. Wisteriastar was a very respected leader during her time in Riverclan, putting her clan first. If Cherrypaw was being honest, she had grown up to admire her grandmother greatly and wanted to be like her when growing up.
But there was a question that always nagged her, ever since Sorrelember had told her about Wisteriastar’s departure and her father Darkstar suddenly becoming leader of Riverclan overnight: Why did Wisteriastar leave the clan that she loved so much?
Cherrypaw didn’t suspect that Wisteriastar left with Hornetstar at all, she thought it was weird when it was announced that the former Shadowclan leader had also left the clans but didn’t put the pieces together. Shaking her head slightly to clear her thoughts, she looked at the male calico. Wasppaw and his siblings were the product of a cross-clan relationship between two leaders, something that must have been deeply frowned upon by Starclan and the other clans if they knew. The red calico took a deep breath, and flicked her tail to signal him to get up “Come, we can’t talk here.. I don’t want others to walk in on the conversation.” Cherrypaw told him gently, as the Shadowclan healer to-be was still her best friend.. She wouldn’t dare let anything happen to him if the wrong cat heard about his heritage without his consent.
“Rainysky, Wasppaw and I will be going within the territory.. Hareflight has ran low on Dock, heard some dumb warrior named Mellowfrost got scratched up by a thorn bush.” She called towards Rainysky who was nearby with Koipetal, signaling that she was leaving camp. Thankfully she heard the name Mellowfrost from the last gathering and his antics, so it would be a good cover up story that she and Wasppaw could use.
Once the two apprentices made their way out of camp, Cherrypaw found a small area within the stream that was private enough for the two cats to speak without having to worry about anyone spying on them. It was quiet between the two, she had many questions but didn’t want to overwhelm Wasppaw with them “When was the last time that you saw Hornetstar? Did he ever say where they were going when they decided on leaving?” She asked, it was a good start. The Riverclan molly didn’t know anything about Hornetstar, but that he was close allies with Wisteriastar during the Battle of Five Clans along with Sunowl’s uncle, Firestar. If Wasppaw could help provide information, she would help with finding the two former leaders and getting the answers that she and Wasppaw wanted. #fd3f3f

Medicine Cat Apprentice of Riverclan
Her bi-colored eyes looked at her grandmother with almost a confused expression, as she was trying to understand Wisterstar clearly.. The former leader did in fact leave her kits, her older ones at least. Forestmask and Koipetal were quick to be understanding and accepting of her departure.. But Sorrelember never forgot. Her mother didn’t even want to utter Wisteriastar’s name, as if she was ashamed of her mother. Perhaps it was because Cherrypaw wasn’t older and didn’t face the same situations like Wisteriastar did but the smaller calico just needed to listen to the older calico’s reasoning. There were two sides to every story, Cherrypaw had heard everyone’s stories and opinions of the former Riverclan leader from the moment that Cherrypaw was born.. It was Wisteriastar’s turn to have a voice in this story.
As she listened to Wisteriastar, she kept looking at Wasppaw at the corner of her eye. Cherrypaw’s main concern was the calico tom, his feelings and emotions were extremely important to her as the tom had to experience Hornetstar and Wistertiastar’s actions first-hand.The small calico molly gently bumped her shoulder against his, a small smile appearing on her face as in a comforting way. Wasppaw wasn’t alone in this, they were family. It wasn’t until she turned to look towards her grandmother, thinking of her words carefully. “Do you miss it…? Being in the clans?” Cherrypaw questioned. The molly knew that Wisteriastar had to make a lot of sacrifices, but she knew that the former leader at least looked happy.. Stars, Wisteriastar was practically glowing!
“I uh.. may be going through something similar” Cherrypaw began, noticing Wasppaw turning to look at her. The red calico had briefly mentioned Sunowl to her best friend, thinking that perhaps it was just a crush that would go away with time.. However, as her naming ceremony was approaching.. Cherrypaw couldn’t help but think about the future, how she mainly saw Sunowl in it. Clearing her throat for a moment, her bi-colored eyes looked into Wisterstar’s orange ones “I have feelings for a Skyclan Warrior, his name is Sunowl” she said, a smile appearing on her face at the thought of the ginger and white tom. Snapping out of her thoughts as she was in the company of her grandmother and uncle, Cherrypaw bit the inside of her cheek before speaking once more “I know that I wanna be with him, there’s something about him that just gets my heart fluttering.. Those butterflies in my stomach” She said, a small chuckle escaping her. Cherrypaw had always felt nervous about speaking about her true feelings about Sunowl, but she knew that Wisteriastar would understand out of all cats.
“Something inside me always screams at me.. Wanting to be with him, but I know it’s difficult with being in different clans” She explained to both of them, seeing the many emotions that were going through the taller calico in front of her. Wisteriastar knew exactly what she was talking about, she lived through it. Letting out a soft sigh, Cherrypaw shook her head “I don’t really know what to do Wisteriastar.. Part of me tells myself that I should just perhaps move on, maybe find a tom within the clan.. But that other part of me doesn’t want to let go” She whispered softly, Cherrypaw’s heart aching at the thought of never speaking or being around the ginger and white tom.
Her bi-colored eyes had some tears starting to form, but she quickly whipped them away before a sad smile appeared on Cherrypaw’s face “How did you handle everything that happened with Hornetstar when you both were still in the clans? Did you ever have moments like this?”Cherrypaw questioned, knowing that if anyone could give her the proper advice.. It would be the former Riverclan leader.
