Many attempts were made throughout the day following the arrival of the river kitten to peek inside the medicine cat's den where both the kitten and her father resided. Every attempt to either enter the den or even just peek inside was thwarted by Venomrose and usually ended in Spiderkit either being grabbed by her scruff and carried a few fox-lengths from the den, or a gentle shove of the paw that had her leaving the vicinity of where she wanted to be.
"But, papa, I promise not to disturb him! I just want to see! Is he better yet? I want to know more about him!" She had cried and fussed many times during her attempts. Being the dutiful medicine cat that he was, Venomrose refused to give into his daughter's sweet voice and desperate pleas - a fact that did frustrate the little molly on more than one occasion. She wanted to be daddy's little girl, to have him wrapped around her little paw. She was basically a mini Venomrose, so why wasn't he wavering in her presence?
After her final attempt, Spiderkit had resigned herself to merely sitting near the nursery and gazing unhappily in the direction of the river kitten's current resting place. Venomrose wouldn't be able to keep her out forever, and she was determined to barge in there one way or another and formally meet the newest RiverClan mystery. Her plan would have to wait, though, as her eyelids grew heavy and she began to doze off. The day had been busy and long, and it wasn't long before gravity pulled her entirely to the ground where she lay sprawled out and in a deep sleep.
The next thing she remembered was the gentle murmurings of her Clanmates preparing for their typical evening chores. Grooming, eating dinner, and settling in the younger nursery members for sleep. She parted her jaws in a tiny yawn and rolled onto her abdomen so that she could stretch out in a sploot-like stretch. Her whiskers twitched and she looked around sleepily before her memory returned to her and she sprang to her paws as if the ground had suddenly became lava. "I forgot!" She squealed sharply.
Spiderkit did a quick once over of her surroundings and then, as quickly and quietly as she could, she followed the edge of the camp until she once again arrived at her papa's den. She sniffed the air cautiously and only poked her head into the entrance when she felt that Venomrose's scent was not as strong as it had been earlier. Just as she suspected, he must have stepped out for at least a moment, which meant that Spiderkit was welcome to waltz right in like she owned the place - and waltz in she did.
She reminded herself to be respectful of the medicine cat's den in case other clan mates were there resting from either sickness or injury. When she finally found the river kitten of mystery, she giggled under her breath with excitement and then settled herself as close to his nest as she could. "Psst. Pssst," she whispered and reached out with a paw to gently boop his nose. "Are you awake? You've been asleep for.. like.. ever!" She hissed softly under her breath.
Despite having fallen asleep within the medicine cat's den, snuggled up close with the strange kit who had discovered his identity, Spiderkit was surprised to find that she was back in the nursery later the next morning when she awoke from a deep slumber. Her amber hues squinted and her nose scrunched in response to her realization. "I guess mama or papa brought me here..?" She mumbled aloud to herself and lowered her upper body down towards the ground so that she could stretch. Once more awake and limber, she trotted somewhat sleepily out of the nursery and into the open where she squinted yet again, though this time it was due to the harshness of the sunlight compared to the dimness of the den she had just been in.
She twitched her nose and settled down with her tail curled around her body then got to work with her morning grooming to make sure she looked at least somewhat presentable. Her tufted ears twitched upright and angled towards the sudden outburst of her name and she looked up to see Torrent racing towards her. "Good morning, Torrent! How are you feeling today?" She beamed brightly at the longhaired tom and quickly got to her paws so that she could lean forwards and give him a good morning greeting in the form of a nose boop.
She giggled with excitement at the news he offered her and her fur puffed out with excitement. "Alright! It's about time! You were in there for forever! I can't wait to show you everything! It'll be confusing at first I bet, but you have lots of time to get used to everything!"
Spiderkit snorted softly at Torrent's push to tease her which only furthered to heat up her little body a lot more than what she was used to. This level and type of embarrassment was completely new to the young molly and she didn't quite grasp it's meaning. His words sounded playful instead of mean which worked in his favor because it just made her enjoy his company all the more.
He brought mention to her unusual overbite - a condition that caused her upper canines to protrude and indeed give her a vampire-cat appearance and aesthetic. She grinned a dazzling smile at Torrent, flashing her fangs again and dropping her body into a crouch where she began a playful wiggle. "Beware, for I am Spiderbat! I am here to drink your blood!" She hissed as menacingly as she could - which wasn't very. She wiggled her haunches in preparation to pounce, but she remained very on edge about her movements since she knew that Torrent was still healing.
So, with a final wiggle, she sprang at the tom kitten and landed beside him in his nest. A dainty paw rested on his cranium and she let out the evilest laugh she could muster. "Mwahaha, I am queen Spiderbat, and you are my new prey!" Her attempt at being spooky was not very long lasted and ended when she broke into a bubbly giggle fit which. She flopped over not long after that, landing besides Torrent in his nest where she sprawled out on her back and shimmied as close as she could to him.
"You don't remember your name? That doesn't sound like any fun. Actually, that kind of sounds.. scary.." She frowned as she rolled her head to the side, allowing it to brush up against Torrent's front leg for support as she met his blue gaze. "I'll give you a name! Or help you come up with one! We could name you Riverkit, because you came from the river! Although I don't think there's been a River in the Clan since the original River that they tell us about sometimes.." She hummed softly and reached up a dainty paw to swipe aimlessly at his whiskers. "You're in RiverClan, so maybe something water related? Like.. Puddle? Or.. Rain? Uhm.." She frowned and jutted out her bottom lip in the beginnings of a new pout before an idea lit up her angelic features like a Christmas tree. "What about Currentkit? Because you got swept away from wherever you came from on the river's current!"
Torrent smiled slightly and averted his gaze as he licked at one of his paws. "Suuure you weren't." He mewed teasingly. The black she-cats pouting made him chuckle a little as she began to calm herself. "That's why your dad had to keep pushing you out of the den. I lost count after the 7th time." Torrent grinned. He quickly noticed she became flustered and embarassed at his words as she seemingly began to shuffle her small black paws.
Instead of teasing her further, he quietly observed as she sat in front of him. Despite the darkness of the evening, the moonlight had gently light the medicine cat den, making the black kits pelt shine majestically. Had it not been for her toothy canine fangs peeking out as she grinned, she would have been rather beautiful in his mind. But currently all he could see was a shiny vampire bat like cat ready to suck his blood. He shivered at the thought. Could that really happen?
His imagine couldn't help but imagine it.
"Spiderkit?" He raised a brow at the name surprised. "I thought it would be Batkit or something. Those teeth look like they may take a chunk out of me for my blood." He replied bluntly. Torrent didn't mean anything mean by his words, but sometimes he spoke rather openly when taken aback by something unusual. He didn't meet many cats with semi large canine teeth. He stretched and laid flat on his stomach for a moment, trying to avoid laying on his back. Despite the poultice, they still stung. He gave her a surprised look as she booped his nose playfully. His fluffy striped tail flicked slowly as Spiderkit began playing with it. "Who am i?"
The shadowclan kit glanced upwards in thought silently for a moment. He began trying to think about the question, but still he had no answer. Instead he shook his head and sighed slowly. "I don't know. I don't remember honestly. Even your leader and dad tried to ask me what my name was, and I still have no idea. So your guess is as good as mine. I don't even remember where I came from." Torrent's blue gaze looked out the den for a moment, his ears twitching as he heard the rivers current gently lapping along the edge of the camps and territorys borderline. "All I remember is waking up in the river and paddling to shore. Next thing I know, I'm waking up here with your dad shoving piles of herbs in my face and covering me in mashed up leaves and such."
Torrent went from being peacefully quiet and idle to being on his paws and on high alert. The sudden change startled the molly and she ended up representing a Halloween decoration in her fear. Her dark coat stood on end, her ears went back, and her spine arched to give her a larger appearance. She exhaled softly as she realized that she wasn't in any danger. "I wasn't annoying papa that much!" She countered with a huff. Her pouting came to an end when he offered an apology and her fur burned with embarrassment. "O-oh.. It's alright! I wasn't scared!"
She licked her ruffled chest fur and settled back into a comfortable seating position. Her upper canine fangs peeked out from behind her upper lip as she met the tom's gaze. When her lips pulled back in a grin the sharpness of those canines became more noticeable. "I'm Spiderkit. Venomrose is my papa, didn't you know?" She giggled and then stretched her forelimb out to once more boop the tom's nose. "So, who are you?" Her head tilted curiously to the side and she idly batted at the tip of the tom's tail.
She desperately wanted to go play, but she knew better than to go that far. So for now she was going to behave and keep her father's patient where he belonged.
It had been a busy day for the small grey and brown striped kit, ironically one that wasn't easily forgotten. Torrent had awoken earlier in the day, Drenched, cold, exausted, and most importantly in pain. Venomrose had been giving the shadowclan kit herbs to eat, ones that made his tounge retract into the back of his mouth and gagging as he chewed them quickly by command. If he hadn't been encouraged to keep them down, Torrent would have thrown them up long ago. Yet they seemed to be helping with some of his pain, along with the cool poulices set atop his wounds he acquired from the hawk. Yet, he did not remember it. He did not seem to remember anything. Which was unsettling for him. The Riverclan medicine cat and Leader of the clan Copperstar had tried to get information from the kit, but he sadly had no information to give.
His own name...unknown. Where he lived? Unknown. For all he knew he lived under a rock and lived with a family of foxes.
"I wish I remembered who I was..." he thought silently.
As the day had gone on, Torrent's tufted ears twitched slightly as he was curled tightly in his nest. He had heard commotion of a young kit at times before quickly drifting back to a deep sleep. However once evening hit, Torrent began having terrifying dreams flooding his mind of a large hawk with sharp talons peircing his striped coat...the world below him growing ever smaller as he soared through the air. His throat sank into the bottom of his stomach, squirming and squealing as he tried to get the giant bird to release him. "Let me go!!!" He mewed angrily. Finally the bird released him, fear engulfing him as he fell, crashing into the river. Right before breaking the rivers surface, Torrent awoke. His already fluffy pelt raised high making him look alot bigger then he was as he jumped up in his nest, bright blue eyes widened in fear. As he came to his senses, he realized he had accidentally startled a small black she-cat in front of him. As his eyes carefully observed her, Torrent remembered seeing this kit constantly making her way into the den earlier as he was being treated for his wounds and napping. "Hey...I remember you. You were that kit from earlier annoying Venomrose." He mewed curiously.
Looking around, he quickly realized he was in no danger. The dream was vaguely remembered as he came to reality, yet quickly vanished as it had come. "Sorry to frighten you..." he mewed awkwardly. His fur laid flat as he circled and sunk back down into the warm nest with a yawn, tears lightly blurring his vision from the sleepiness of the poppyseeds given to him earlier. He began licking at his fluffy tail briefly before turning his attention back to Spiderkit. She didn't look much older then him. In fact, her stubborness seemed to remind him of someone. But who? Cocking his head to the side slightly, she could see the excited, worried and curiosity showing in her brightly light amber gaze.
"Aren't you gonna get trouble being in here?" Unknown to Torrent, he would have said something similar to his sister Zinnia...if he remembered her. Torrent always did have a natural urge to follow rules when they were given. He gave Spiderkit a concerned look. The shadowclan kit didn't know her, but he didn't want the Riverclan kit to get in trouble either. "I would be careful. Venomrosewith the nasty tasting herbs could be back at any moment. And i don't want you to get in trouble." He added sincerely.
