Frostkit didn't want to be out and about today, she would rather be lazing about the nursery. Warm and safe, secure, cozy within her mother's nest. However today her mother decided that Murkykit, her brother, was going to turn her into a crazy bee-brain with his antics in the nursery. So thus, she sent them beyond the boundaries of the nursery under the watchful eye of their father Frigidstorm, and she wouldn't let them back in until she had a decent timeframe of beauty sleep to energize her again. So here Frostkit was, watching her own shadow in wide-eyed terror, as the sun made it stretch and squish in size against the receding snow. She didn't know why the snow was disappearing, but she knew that it couldn't possibly be for anything positive for the clans. As far as she recalled, her first memories were of the snow and the cold, and now the snow was leaving somewhere, and the air was... not as cold? She didn't know how to describe it. Where was the snow going and why? She had to know. Maybe someone else might know? She would ask her siblings, but they probably didn't care, and so she was left all alone with her burning question without an answer. As she stood there, still so scared, she took notice out of the corner of her eye that Sleetkit was out and about. He was Snowfeather and Edgefrost's son. If anyone might know what's happening with the snow, surely it must be the deputy's son? Trembling on timid paws, she scampered forward, following him across the squishy ground, her little paw prints making squelching noises as she moved along, which freaked her out and fluffed up her fur. But her curiosity urged her forward. "H-Hey! Sl-Sle-Sleetkit!" Frostkit called out, voice quaking but still firm enough that it was audible and discernable, "Sleetkit! D-Do you kn-know why the snow is... is... g-going away?"

Greenleaf is in full flush. Temperatures reach nearly unbearable hights. Long-furred cats should stray from the sun.

~Frostkit~
A burning sting pricked at the corners of Frostkit's eyes as Sleetkit hurled his insult at her with a sharp and unforgiving tongue. Tiny tears trickled down her fluffy cheeks as she stared incredulously at the tom for taking a swipe at her intelligence. Obviously she was only a kit and that meant she wouldn't know everything there was to know. But that did not make her any less intelligent than any other kit. Just inexperienced and learning. She puffed up her cheeks and sniffled, tail lashing as she shook on her paws, trying to look bigger and taller than she actually was. "M-My mama and papa t-te-teach me lots! I'm no-not a m-mousebrain just because they h-haven't told me what is ha-happening with the snow yet." Though she was taken aback by Sleetkit, she had to defend her parents' honor. They weren't raising no bee-brain. Frostkit was plenty bright, she wasn't like what Sleetkit was saying. She stared him straight in the eyes, "I-I bet yo-you don't kno-know everything either! Nope! Nope! Nope. I'm not a mo-mousebrain. But yo-you're a bi-big mean to-toad!" She snorted as she brought down her paw and slapped at the mixture of melted snow, mud and mush. She hadn't meant it to happen but the slush splashed up and sprayed Sleetkit in the face. Her eyes went wide as the moon as her fur bristled. "Oops! Oh no I-!" Her maw struggled to move to shape words as she stammered even more. "I didn't mean to do that!"

Elders might be smart, or at least have a wealth of knowledge thanks to their many years of life, but they sure were helpless. They were like newborn kits, almost! They had to have their food caught for them, some of them couldn't hear or see, and they took naps- NAPS! Sleetkit didn't even like taking naps anymore, and the elders were always quick to point out how young he still was. But whatever. If they wanted to take naps, he'd find something else to do.
Snowfeather had brought his brothers and himself out of the nursery because it was a nice day, and it seemed all the litters at that time had a bit of cabin fever, seeing another one exiting the nursery with their father. Jaykit and Galekit were absorbed in some other matter, likely a pretty stupid one, and Sleetkit didn't feel like being dragged into such childish things. Perhaps he would go pester a warrior. Or at least he would have, if he weren't the one now being pestered.
Tipping his head back, he did his best to look down his nose at Frostkit as she blathered at him, even if they were nearly the same height. "It's melting, duh. Haven't your parents ever taught you anything, Mousebrain?" Rolling his eyes, he went to sidestep the white she-kit and continue on his way.
