Ravenclaw
Shadowclan Warrior
The sky was incredibly cloudy, the black and white tom was looking down at the mouse that was resting near his paws but decided to look away slightly. Ravenclaw wasn’t hungry, but knew he had to eat. Looking in front of him, he saw that Mintstrike was looking down at his meal while Widowsting was just distracted with the sky. The three of them hadn’t been the same since the Ripper had stabbed and kicked Mercuryrose off the cliff and into the roaring waters of the currents. There had been multiple patrols in search for her, but she hadn’t turned up anywhere. It had seemed like hope was lost, as now Shadowclan had been trying to adjust to living a life without Mercuryrose. Besides her family, it appeared that Juncostar was taking it the hardest as well, as the deputy and himself were very good friends, along with Waspsight.. He knew that the calico tom must have been holding some guilt over the fact that she had sacrificed herself to protect the healer, the black and white tom had assured that it wasn’t Waspsight’s fault, Mercuryrose had done what was right, protecting the innocent. Knowing that his father was watching over him, to ensure that he was taking care of himself.. Ravenclaw had leaned down to take a small bite of his meal.
Shallowing the piece of meat, Ravenclaw’s golden gaze had remained on the floor. It didn’t feel right, not having the proper conclusion of his mother. Feeling Mintstrike’s gaze on him, the large tom looked up at the Bengal tom, he knew that Mintstrike was taking it worse than him, he was Mercuryrose’s mate. The smaller tom looked tired, like the life had been sucked out of him. Widowsting was beside Ravenclaw, who was very quiet and didn’t want to really talk to anyone that wasn’t her small family.. She was hurting for Mercuryrose as well, especially as their romance was blooming. Feeling someone brushing against him, Lilyfall’s cheek was rubbing against his shoulder. It was nice that the silver tabby was beside him, he took comfort in knowing that Liyfall would never leave him. Leaning down to press his nose against her forehead, he pressed a gentle kiss into her forehead. His ears perked up at the sound of a couple of gasps along with a couple of screams that caused his golden gaze to look up, a frown appearing on his face as Ravenclaw was confused for a moment until his gaze met a familiar dark green gaze.
His mouth dropped open.
Standing at the entrance was Mercuryrose, dried blood was covering her entire body while the large Maine Coon molly’s breathing was dangerously slow. The deputy had a huge gash that was on her stomach, but it looked like it was risking infection at any time now. Her dark green gaze was dull, her face had small cuts. However, what changed greatly was the pregnant stomach that Mercuryrose had. Ravenclaw’s gaze was focused on it, since Mercuryrose was extremely malnourished it didn’t appear that she was even pregnant.. Her stomach was a small bump, as it should have been much larger. Ravenclaw’s gaze turned to Mintstrike, the bengal staring at her in shock. However, he could see the brown tom was doing the calculations in his head.. Those kits were Mintstrike’s, they must have conceived the kits the night before Mercuryrose’s fight with the Ripper. Ravenclaw’s gaze was focused on Mercuryrose, tears were threatening to spill. Without thinking, the large black and white tom quickly got up and bolted towards the Shadowclan deputy “Mom!” Ravenclaw shouted, tears coming down his eyes. Mercuryrose was staring back at her son with tears running down her own face, meeting her son halfway until she had literally collapsed into his arms when Ravenclaw reached her. The Shadowclan deputy had begun crying, but she didn’t have enough strength as her son was holding her up.
Ravenclaw had protected her from falling into the ground, thinking of the unborn kits that Mercuryrose was carrying, were they even alive? Anxiety creeped through Ravenclaw, the kits didn’t have the proper care as Mercuryrose had basically been on her own, injured and alone. Thankful that he had inherited Snarlingbadger’s size, he was glad that he was able to properly hold her because he knew that a fall could be devastating to the kits. Hearing the others approaching, Ravenclaw could hear Mintstrike’s own sniffles and Widowsting looking at Mercuryrose with tears in her eyes. Carefully laying his mother on the ground, Mercuryrose’s breathing was rough, but she was looking at her family with a soft smile on her face. Moving to place a paw on the Shadowclan deputy’s cheek, Ravenclaw had a soft smile as he was trying to comfort his mother “You’re safe now, we won’t let anything happen.” Ravenclaw promised her, to which Mercuryrose looked at him for a moment before closing her eyes as she passed out..
She was the bravest feline that Ravenclaw ever knew, Mercuyrose was Ravenclaw’s hero.
Juncostar
shadowclan leader
(he/him)
It had been quite some time since Mercuryrose had vanished, and Juncostar was struggling to come to terms with the fact that she probably would never come back. Given the wounds that Waspsight had described, he found it hard to believe she could have survived, even if the fall hadn't gotten her first. He was laying outside his den, eyelids heavy from his late night spent talking with Hawkstar in his den. After sneaking him back out camp, the grey tom had fallen back asleep for a little while, but it was a restless sleep. He felt guilty, confused, even a little excited after their whole exchange. He was still grieving, as well, and it made for a rough night.
Tired eyes turned to Ravenclaw where he sat with a few others, and sadness grew in Juncostar's belly. It hurt him to see the young tom so upset. He wished there was some way he could help, but he knew nothing he could say would make this any easier for his nephew. If anything, he'd probably say something stupid and just make it worse for every-cat; he tended to do that a lot. And so he'd focused more on action, picking up the slack where he could to ease the burden on the others who were grieving the deputy.
At the sudden rising commotion, the tom rose to his paws, following Ravenclaw's gaze to the entrance of camp. His heart stopped at what he saw. He stood frozen for a moment, eyes wide as he saw who stood there. "Mercuryrose!" he gasped, scrambling to her. He was there just a moment after Ravenclaw, paws trembling as he struggled with the urge to reach out and touch her, as though to make sure she was real. She looked awful; he didn't know how she had even managed to make it back to camp in the state she was in. "Some-cat get Waspsight!" he ordered, turning his gaze to those that were gathered in the camp.
Looking back to his deputy, Juncostar then noticed that her belly was certainly swollen. Horror hit him as he realized what that must mean. She'd been attacked, had taken a great fall, and had managed to make her way all the way back home, all while carrying kits. He felt panic grip his stomach as he began to worry for them, afraid they'd been hurt in the process. As the she-cat lost consciousness, he felt his heart break. He lowered himself to his belly beside her, moving his tail to lay it over her hip. "She's home," he sighed in relief, "I... was starting to lose hope, but she made it back home."
