Mellowfrost
Shadowclan Deputy
Grumbling slightly as the cream tabby warrior had quickly made his way out of the warriors den and into the clearing, his green gaze was searching for a certain mountain cat that clearly broke some rules. Mellowfrost wasn’t in a great mood, instead wanting to get his duties as deputy done early so he could have some time with his mates and kits. Roachwing and Jasmineflame were most likely awaiting him near the swamp so all three of them could take a stroll and enjoy the snow, but unfortunately those two would have to wait now. Almondpaw and Bogpaw were with their mentors, so the deputy would have to wait til dinner to spend time with his two kits with Jasmineflame.
Why was Mellowfrost looking for Cavernsight?
Ravenclaw had led a morning hunting patrol, which had shouldn’t caused any problems as the large black and white tom was capable to handling a patrol by himself despite his age, but Ravenclaw had the potential of a leadership rule if the tom wished to follow in his mother’s pawsteps one day. All was going well within the haunting patrol until Cavernsight had caught a sparrow, and decided to start eating it on the spot. Ravenclaw had tried to gently correct him but the mountain cat wouldn’t listen and kept on eating. However, one of the ill tempted warriors, Clawslash, wasn’t having it and ended up in a tussle with Ravenclaw forcing apart the two with Hollystorm and Grimrose.
Hollystorm led Cavernsight back to camp with Grimrose while Ravenclaw had dealt with Clawslash. The older warrior didn’t like being lectured by the young tom and had a spat with him. Thankfully Ravenclaw had a good temper and was able to get Clawslash back to camp without another fight breaking out. Mellowfrost had ripped a new one of Clawslash when finding him, as he expected the senior warrior to do better than lunging at a feline who still didn’t understand clan rules, but he still needed to speak to Cavernsight on his actions. Letting out a long sigh, Mellowfrost hates performing his deputy duties.. Back then and into now, the large cream tom just wanted a normal life with his loves and children.
He wanted to smack Juncostar on the back of the head for basically crying and begging to take the job back.
His green eyes were narrowed slightly when finding Cavernsight and Flutterlily together at the side of clearing, both of them were talking in hushed tones. Mercuryrose had assigned Flutterlily to be the mountain cat’s guide to make sure the male’s adjustment in clan life was easy.. But maybe Cavernsight needed a new guide if he was too distracted by the brown and white beauty. Clearing his throat, his gaze was focused on Cavernsight “I hate doing this part of the job, but we need to talk now.” Mellowfrost said, beckoning his head towards a private spot near camp. Mellowfrost hated confrontation since his interaction with Tawnypainter, but somehow he always ended up in it.
“Shall we?”
Cavernsight
Shadowclan Warrior
Cavernsight had been quite enjoying his chat with Flutterlily. The pair had grown much closer since he had arrived in Shadowclan seeking refuge, and rumours were beginning to spread about the pair's relationship, and if it went beyond that of friendship. The large tom would pay no mind to those rumours. But as he leant down at the edge of the clearing, speaking to Flutterlily, his eyes fixated on her with such intensity that he was blind to the world around him, he jumped when he heard Mellowfrost's voice.
The mountain cat hurriedly whisked his tail back to his side from where it had crept around Flutterlily- normally, he wouldn't be shameful at all, but with the way Mellowfrost spoke to him, Cavernsight could tell he was in trouble. Perhaps it was the sparrow incident, that would make sense. He knew it would happen at some point, he was rather embarrassed by the whole ordeal. A part of his recent past that came to bring shame to his new clanmates who had offered him safety in his time of need.
Stealing one last glance at Flutterlily, he strode toward Mellowfrost, his intense, almost ghostly blue eyes bore into the deputy's. Not a direct challenge- just another of the mountain cat's quirks.
"...Yes. We should. I am already certain what you wish to discuss with me." Cavernsight allowed Mellowfrost to lead him away, his long legs ensuring he easily kept pace with the deputy. Once they were sufficiently out of sight and earshot, he turned to face Mellowfrost.
"...I'm sorry for the sparrow. I know... it is not the prey that is the concern, but my behaviour." The tom started, "I have no explanation for my actions aside from the fact it was a reflection of my past that came back to haunt me in that moment."
