Ravenstar
Shadowclan Leader
The journey home was silent between himself, Aspenwood and Waspsight. A single word hadn’t been said, all three felines were still processing the news. A small sigh escaped the black tom, the breeze slightly moving through the white fur of his underbelly. Golden eyes were scanning the area, looking through the Shadowclan territory. It was his territory now, he was in charge of keeping it safe. The large tom let out a small sigh, everything has changed. Glancing over at Aspenwood, he could tell that his cousin had many thoughts in his head but remained silent. Was the dark gray tabby disappointed? Would he cause an uproar once returning the camp? No, he wouldn’t.. Aspenwood is better than that.
He came from Juncostar after all. Upon approaching the entrance of the Shadowclan camp, Ravenstar had taken the lead and shouldered his way past the guards and moved towards the High Point. Aspenwood and Waspsight had lowered their pace, watching the Shadowclan leader going towards the edge of the high point “Let all those old enough to catch their own prey gather below the high point for a clan meeting.” Ravenstar’s booming voice said. A couple of felines, Aspenwood’s supporters, were hesitant on going towards the direction of the high point.. But they followed once Aspenwood nodded towards them. Once everyone had gathered,
Ravenstar looked down at the felines surrounding him below. It felt like an unreal experience, this was happening. Multiple emotions went through him, a lot of thoughts. A familiar scent went through his nostrils, it was Twilightstrike’s.. One of his guides. Closing his eyes for a moment, it was almost as if a relaxing presence pressed against him in order to comfort him.. He wasn’t sure which guide it was, but it was a female. “Aspenwood and I had went to the Mooncave to receive a sign from Starclan in order to see who would become leader.. I was chosen.” Ravenstar began, looking towards Widowsting.. His mother. Herself and his father, Mintstrike, were sitting at the nursery with his three moon old siblings. The black tom had hopened that his parents were pleased, they were following his other mother’s footsteps. “I know that it had been a few challenging moons, but I want to reassure you.. That I will protect Shadowclan with my lives, that I will protect you all.. It doesn’t matter who you had chosen, but I know that my mother would had protected you all with her lives.. I must carry on her legacy, her and Juncostar’s” Ravenstar said, looking towards Aspenwood who was silent for a moment before nodding.
“Shadowclan is about to order a new age, one that we will expect the best of each other.. But an age in which our home is a priority and protected.” Ravenstar said, before looking at his clanmates with a half smile, one that his mother was incredibly good at “I will have to choose a deputy, one that I feel that is capable of helping Shadowclan thrive within this new age that I know will take care of our home once I’m long gone.” Ravenstar said before looking down for a moment, it was a tough choice.. He wanted Grimrose to become his deputy, but he didn’t want to appear biased. “I’ll name my deputy at sun rise.” Ravenstar simply said, before looking at the crowd. It was going to be a challenge, who would be capable of looking after their home once Ravenstar wasn’t leader anymore? It was his first tough choice.
Suddenly, he heard someone start changing his name. Looking up, he saw it was Mintstrike. A small smile appeared on his face at his father, the man who raised him to become the leader he’s becoming today. A couple of others were starting to chant his name, before Ravenstar looked down for a moment before looking up. He met the familiar orange gaze of Aspenwood, both of them had an unreadable expression. While it was a moment of others were cheering, both of them were surrounded in their own world. Both of them were at an understanding with each other, a respect. Aspenwood looked at the Shadowclan leader for a moment before lowering his head slightly in respect. Ravenstar understood him at the moment. Both of them had lost their parents in the span of 24 hours, Juncostar had passed away first while Mercuryrose had passed not even 24 hours later.. Both of them lost the parents that risked their own lives for their home and their children.. Ravenstar and Aspenwood wouldn’t get their parents back. But, their memories would live on.. In stories of everyone that knew and loved Juncostar and Mercuryrose.
Ravenstar looked at his clanmates who were cheering his name “This meeting is over.” The black tom had said before making his way towards the leader’s den.. His new home.
In the near future:
Here lies Ravenstar, the most spiritual and youngest leader of his generation.. Perhaps of any generation.. He was the best at protecting Shadowclan, ensuring that his clan was never overlooked nor taken advantage of.. Ravenstar loved his home, and those that lived with him.. Shadowclan had called him.. ‘The leader with no fear.’
