~The Delicate Daisy Of Windclan~
Daisypaw stared up into the sky from her sunning spot on the ground, she was lying splayed out upon her back, watching the clouds float through a sea of darkening blue. The golden circlet of fire high above had long since sunk down towards the line of the horizon. She had been lying in this spot for nearly the entire day. A feline as fragile as she did not have much to do, though she was an apprentice, she had not been assigned a mentor. Her body simply wasn’t capable of handling the arduous strain of training and hunting. She had been confined to camp per Quiethawk’s recommendation once she came of age to be an apprentice.
Though she was unable to do most duties as an apprentice, she was still allowed to lend a paw to the elders, queens and kits. And even if she was grateful for what she could do, sometimes deep down, much to her shame of being so selfish – she yearned to do what the other apprentices could. She yearned with all her heart and soul that she could train, fight and hunt alongside them. Especially with her siblings, whom already had mentors and were already training their tails off every day. Daisypaw was not a jealous cat, not by any stretch of the imagination- but that’s not to say that she felt left out and left behind.
She hardly got to interact with her own siblings, because they were so much larger than her – and could easily bring her harm, no matter how careful they were at interacting with her. They had not been able to play with her much, if at all, when they were kits. She had been nest bound for a long time, and it wasn’t until she was ready to be named an apprentice, that she finally was able to leave the entrance of the Nursery. In all honesty, it was embarrassing for her, having to be carried most of the way to her own ceremony – and to be far more petite than the others.
A wistful sigh slipped through her parted maw.
What she wouldn’t give to venture outside camp, just once. Silently she swore that she wouldn’t go far, she just wanted to see for once… what was out there, beyond the barriers of what she could only describe as her cage.
WHEATPAW
Soft wisp of clouds gently glided through the late afternoon sky, the sun slowly trekking its way home for the evening. Gentle chirps from distant prey rung out into the stilled sky. Normally around this time the clan would be aroused with chatter and feasting on prey they’ve caught for the day, yet everything was quiet, somber. Recent events had the excitement that was rung through the warriors grow rather quiet. Worried if their peers would fall il like all those whose life was unfortunately taken. The small calico feline had worried for a moment, but excitement filled every inch of his being. He had been made an apprentice not too long ago and he was excited, to actually help his clan mates in their time in need to even being allowed outside the very walls he was stuck behind.
Whetapaw had pushed his way through the entrance of the clearing a few weak prey hung in his maw as he made his way through the clearing to put it with the rest the clan had mustered. Despite the petite prey they could find the feline was overbearing with joy with the fact that he himself had managed to get it with no help from his peers. A soft purr rumbling in his throat the Tom dropped his food with ease before turning around his amber hues shifting about before landing on a molly that resided of near the medicine cat den. He had heard rumors that this feline was too weak to partake in what makes a cat a warrior confided to these very walls he was grateful to break away from he honestly felt bad.
Marching over to the molly he sat down beside her with a loud thump before falling onto his side and rolling over to look up at the sky as well curious to what she was looking there. “Howdy there I’m Wheatpaw!” He chirped softly before looking over to her, “whatcha looking at? What’s your name?” He questioned softly a warming smile crossed his face. He hopped that he wasn’t bothering the resting molly or anything of that nature. That would be the last thing he wanted to do.

Daisypaw had more or less accepted she’d be alone for the majority of the day, so imagine her pleasant surprise in the form of another apprentice, that the lonely bubble around her would be popped. Quickly she turned her head to cast her surprised gaze at Wheatpaw, her sights spirited away from the clouds to lock onto Wheatpaw. Her ears perked up as she stared at him, and she blinked once, twice, and then thrice over – before she dopily returned a smile at him.
“I’m Daisypaw, I don’t get around much and oh, you know – nothing much really. Just staring up at the clouds, seeing shapes in them… oh! Like that one!” A cloud the shape of a bird flittered at the corner of her vision, and her gaze snapped back to the darkening sky. She flicked her tail tip upwards to point at the bird-shaped cloud. “That one’s shaped like a bird! Oh, and that one over there – a flower!” She stretched her paw up to point it out as it floated alongside the bird-shaped cloud.
“You know, I’ve always wondered… what it was like… to fly, I mean. If I could fly… I could fly far away from here and do…” Her shimmering gaze faded to a solemn dimness, “I could do anything… go anywhere, see everything. I wouldn’t be stuck here.”

The small calico apprentice had a feeling that the molly wanted some for of interaction, admittedly he had always saw her from afar in between his duties given to him by his mentor. He felt sad for the molly hearing from his den mates that she was given her apprentice name out of pity perhaps, a way to make her less different from her siblings and clan mates. The molly had always appeared ill, or even weak when he had saw her. Sometimes he had wished that there was a way for them to enjoy the life it was to be an apprentice and later warrior. But a part of him had a feeling that she wasn’t going too experience that. A part of him wanted to befriend them and show them what it would be like if they were given that opportunity.
Smiling warming his amber gaze shifted towards the molly that laid next to him a soft purr coming from him, “It’s a pleasure to meet you darling, what shapes have you seen so far?” He asked softly before shifting his gaze fluttered to where she was pointing out a soft gasp came from him as he watched the soft fluffy cloud shift across the sky. It really did look like a bird. Propping himself up slightly his gaze shifted through the groups of clouds before pointing at one, “Look! It’s a little frog!” He chirped softly his smile growing more across his face the soft rays of the sun resting against his back a light breeze dancing across the barren fields that windclan held so dearly.
Breath catching in the back of his throat as the molly finished up with what she had to say causing the tom to frown sadness washing over his small frame. Her words truly made him sad, there was no way for him to relate on that aspect, how could it? He had the freedom she would never get the experience. Trying his best not to make it obvious the tome ears fluttered slightly, “Is there a way for you to go out even if it’s a few inches from the entrance? Even if you rested for a moment?” He asked softly ears flattened against his head.

“Darling?” Daisypaw couldn’t help but snicker at that, no one had ever called her that before. She flicked her fluffy tail in amusement, her maw stretching into a smile. The sparkle to her eyes returned as she let her gaze trail back to the sky, she stared up into the cloud that Wheatpaw pointed out and she nodded in agreement, “It really does look like a frog, I’d love to see one hopping around and not just in the kill pile, as rare as we ever get them.”
The molly rolled over onto her paws and popped up into a stand and licked at her paws to draw them over her ears and sloped them down her cranium to get rid of any dirt or grass that might have hitched a ride in her fluffy coat.
She settled down into a sit and regarded the tom and his words, she wondered in the back of her mind if she could be permitted to go out, even if only a few inches or maybe paw-steps from camp. She tilted her head and let the idea seep into her and played around with the possibility that it might just be plausible. They would only have to get permission from her mother and the Medicine Cat, and an escort from another warrior.
“Ah…m-maybe?” The gloomy clouded aura around her seemed to dissipate some, “I mean if it’s only a little bit away from the camp? They might let me?”

The small cream tom couldn't help but chuckle a little as he nodded a little shifting his wait to the side a bit to face her. His amber hues shifting towards her as he smiled warmly. "Indeed! If that's okay to you!" He chirped softly before he shifted his gaze back to the sky a soft sigh pressed past his lips as he laid there ears flickering as he heard her comment. It made him feel rather sad his ears falling against his skull as he avoided to look towards the other. "There haven't been many frogs around for a bit since the black goo got everywhere and in a lot of the water" He mumbled before he rolled over onto his stomach a weak smile pulling on his lips.
"Did you ever want to try that...?" He asked softly before quickly adding, "trying to get out of camp even if it's close to camp?" He asked shuffling his paws a bit as he mustered the courage to look in the mollies gaze.
