Amberhawk
Thunderclan Warrior Thunderclan hadn’t been the same for a long while now, there was a new air that flowed throughout their camp, it felt uneasy. Amberhawk wasn’t the only one who had taken notice, and then the night of the gathering happened upon them. The Thunderclan warrior had not foresaw the outcome of the gathering, something was off about his dad; he had felt it for some time but the gathering had proven his concerns. Something was wrong with Hawkstar, his father might not be the best when it comes to parenthood but he’d never turn his back on Lilypool, Oceanstorm, Cloudjumper, and Ospreyshadow especially not after all the trouble Thunderclan went through to bring Ospreyshadows children home to him.
Amberhawk gazed at his damaged image reflecting in the water that puddled in the camp after a rainy day, recalling on the day of that battle for the kittens sent a shiver down his spine and his scars to tingle. Amberhawk had taken a beating, a larger Shadowclan warrior beating him within an inch of his life he felt. A scar had now hooked into the outer corner of his eye causing minor damage to his sight. The ringing in his ears hadn’t left his company since that day and he feared it never would. New scars and an ear piercing ringing wasn’t the only thing he brought back from the battle in Shadowclan; Waspsight, his great friend and Shadowclans medicine cat insisted on Amberhawk staying in Shadowclans paws until he was fully healed. This allowed him plenty of time to get to know Juncostar, Shadowclans leader, just the mere thought of the tom cat sent Amberhawks heart into a pitter patter, he hadn’t felt like this before and he wasn’t able to forget those feelings…even after he discovered that his own father had bedded the leader.
Amberhawk wanted to talk to Juncostar, give the leader a chance to tell Amberhawk himself rather than believing the words of his madness-ridden father. However, with everything that happened at the gathering Amberhawk knew it wasn’t wise to make the journey to Shadowclan, not now, Lightkit, Owlkit, and his younger siblings needed him here should Hawkstar have another episode and banish the younger generation.
Catching the scent of his father Amberhawks gaze lifted from the puddle, “Hawkstar!” His voice called out to the leader. His paws splashing through the puddle he once gazed in as he trotted to his fathers side. “We need to talk. You owe me of all warriors an explanation.”
“How could you banish them? They made mistakes, yes but they have always been loyal to Thunderclan.” His sisters weren’t perfect, neither was he but he meant everything he said. His sisters were still loyal to Thunderclan as they always would be. Lilypool and Oceanstorm were the strongest warriors he had to honor to know and was beyond joyful to call them his sisters. His nephews were young and immature but they too were loyal in their own ways. It’s not their fault love ignored borders.
Copperheart skulked into the clearing, his tail-tip and ears twitching irritably. The ghostly specter of Hawktar had followed him all the way back to the camp.
“You won’t be able to keep this up for long.” The faded tomcat hissed, as Copperheart stepped through him like he was no more than fog. He whirled about, chest heaving with an air of panic in his gaze. Copperheart smirked.
“Buzz off, will you? Haunting your own skin is just embarrassing. Go peep on your lover or something.”
Hawkstar opened his mouth to respond, but fell silent when a spotted Warrior approached them. Although Copperheart knew only he was visible to those around them, he still felt uneasy with Hawkstar’s true essence standing just feet away. What if this one was like that one apprentice who could see him?
“I did what had to be done,” He snapped at the bengal Warrior. “What you call ‘mistakes’ was murder!” He added, his face twisting into a nasty snarl.
“Now…get back to your duties…..you.” He realized that he had no idea what this tom's name was. He was still learning the names of those in ThunderClan, though it was not essential to memorize all of them. His main goal had been accomplished, but he owed Pantherstorm for his assistance. And he could not deny the allure of tormenting his father yet further.
