Figpaw
🌱 medicine cat apprentice of tc 🌱
Figkit.. his name was Figkit. He'd never been given a new name before. "Fiiiigkit." The elder kitten tried out his new name on his tongue.
It was the next day after his naming ceremony- an event that had occurred the same night he'd joined ThunderClan. The elders had whispered about how ThunderClan didn't need extra mouths to feed during LeafBare, but Gravelstar had taken pity on the young tom. Despite what his uncle thought, Figpaw didn't think Gravelstar that that bad of a guy.
He'd found a secluded spot near the clan's dirt place to sit on his own, preferring to be alone than underfoot of every warrior in clan's main camp. A familiar cherry scent filled his nostrils, letting him know his uncle was now here.
"What are you doing?" His uncle asked, suddenly coming into view before the elder kit. "Shouldn't you be out helping the clan?"
Figkit flinched slightly at the sight of his uncle, a much larger and muscular tom who tended to use a harsher tone. "I was told not to touch anything, and to not get in anyone's way." He told his uncle with a useless shrug of his shoulders, as if to say 'there wasn't anything I could do'.
His uncle sighed, slashing his tail at the feeling being shot down by his nephew. "What is with clans these days? Don't they see they have a capable young apprentice right here? It's almost as if they're suspicious of us." The black-coated tom ranted with a stamp of his paw.
'Us?' Figkit thought to himself, but knew better than to question his uncle. "I don't think they're suspicious... they just have other things going on right now thats all."
His uncle made another impatient noise, "You'll just have to show them that you're better than the others- you have a destiny! It's been written in the stars!"
To anyone else looking on, it would seem that Figkit was only talking to himself. "Maybe the stars should tell them that then..." Figkit mewed in response. This seemed to spark something, as his uncle seemed to stand taller at the suggestion.

As usual, the little kit's response to her was just plain odd. The little thing wouldn't even look her in the eyes when he spoke to her. This kit's got no manners, either. She thought to herself with a roll of her eyes, clearly oblivious to her own attitude. "Yeah, the wind, because we have a completely open camp like WindClan and the air just carries words like the spirits are talking or something." The apprentice snorted.
This kid was just no good. She didn't understand what Peachblossom saw in him.
But before she had time to delve further into her thoughts, Figkit was interrupting her and asking her to get him food? Hazelpaw's face scrunched up into an expression of disbelief. Who did he think he was to demand things from her? She gritted her teeth in preparation to say something stinging at him, but instead, for some reason, she stopped herself and gave out an exasperated sigh.
Getting up, the fluffy apprentice led the tall kit over to where the fresh-kill-pile was located, close near the entrance of camp. It was laid in a place where it was easily accessible, both physically and visually. How figkit couldn't find it on his own baffled her.
"If you were capable of using your nose, you would have been able to find out where the food was yourself," she huffed. Her paw reached out, hooking a mouse from the pile of prey and swiping it over to where Figkit stood beside her. "Here, eat." It wasn't the biggest piece of food in the bunch, but with how scrawny the little thing looked, she figured he didn't eat the best as a rogue. If he ate too much, too fast, he would just make himself sick. She learned this from Peachblossom. He would have to start off slow when gaining his strength here in Clan life.

As soon as the angry and shrill voice of Hazelpaw caught their ears, the dark tom before him disappeared in the blink of an eye- as if he hadn't even been there at all. Bravely, Figkit whipped around to face the sharp tongued she-cat.
"I wasn't doing anything!" He snapped reflexively, face contorting in annoyance before he realized exactly who he was talking to. This was the she-cat who had been amongst the group of cats to find him in the forest! Ever since she'd met the tom it was like he left some sort of bad taste in her mouth.
He had a hard time looking her in the eyes. Ever since he'd laid eyes on her in the forest he'd considered her extremely pretty- it was just too bad her attitude didn't match. "Y-you must be hearing things in the wind," he dismissed with a shake of his head.
Luckily, his stomach began to growl before the topic could continue much further. "You're Hazelpaw right? Peachblossom told me if I found you, you might show me where to find some food?"

Today had just been the worst!
The fluffy gray apprentice was known for her bad attitude but now no one dared to come anywhere close to her. She was almost like a firecracker about to explode, one wouldn't be surprised if steam radiated from her ears.
Hazelpaw had been woken up this morning by a thorn in her nest. Coincidence? Maybe. Some loser's idea of a stupid prank? More likely. She wouldn't be surprised if one of the other apprentices had become jealous of her excellence and decided to do something idiotic. After that, Snarlingbadger had scolded her beyond the brink of too far (something about being fed-up with her oversleeping regularly) and had said something like her mother would be ashamed of her for how she had been acting lately. Her claws curled just thinking about it. What did he know!
As if the bad start to her morning wasn't enough, during the hunting patrol today, she had nose-dived into a pile of snow that was far too deep and scared away the thrush she almost had secured in her grasp. Between that and her already bad attitude, Hazelpaw was moments away from unleashing the entirety of her wrath onto whatever poor soul she encountered.
She just wanted to make dirt and hide away for the rest of the day.
Unfortunately, if the day's pattern had any intention of continuing, things just didn't go her way.
Blocking the way was that weird-looking kit they had brought back to camp recently. She had returned just in time to overhear him muttering something to himself, like he was supposedly talking to someone but yet... There was no one here but him.
"Jeez, why can't you just be normal for once?" Hazelpaw snapped harshly, the threads of her patience quickly coming loose. "And why are you talking to yourself in the dirtplace tunnel of all places? Go away!"
