Lazy twilight snaked through the trees as Oceanstorm sat in the shadows, her slim black tail giving an occasional flick of boredom. Peachblossom, the Medicine Cat, had advised that she not be too active as she recovered from her head trauma. It was all well and good advice, earnestly intended to be sure. But it left her with a profound emptiness. Had she even liked those duties before? She felt as if she did- but perhaps that was just the restlessness talking. She’d do anything if it got her moving or thinking about literally anything other than her current predicament.
A flash of brilliant silver fur caught her eye.
Of course!
Beautiful, dappled white fur and lithe limbs…..and a nasty scar that twisted her lips. It had to be her. Oceanstorm let her good eye rest on the she-cat’s face. Did she know how that scar got there? Had she been there? Did she know what happened to her left eye? Hawkbite said it was a rabbit, but he looked away when he said that..
Oceanstorm leapt up and bounded over, ignoring a chastisement from either the Medicine Cat or that nervous cat that was her apprentice.
“Hey…! Lilypool, right?” She grinned lopsidedly. “I’m awake now! Dunno if dad’s told you yet but, uh, my memories are gone. For now. Peachblossom said it ought to be temporary! But, uh, I have no clue if she’s good at her job. Is she? I mean, you’re my sister so you’d tell me, right?” She babbled openly.
