Sunflower
Thunderclan Warrior
Light blue eyes opened and the golden and white molly’s eyes scrunched up slightly as the sunlight hit her face. Sunflower’s head looked around and saw the sleeping warriors surrounding her, the molly’s expression lighting up. It had been a couple of days since becoming a warrior, such a surreal feeling indeed. Sunflower had been so nervous about her warrior assignment, that she mostly wouldn’t pass. But with the help of her friends and mentor working closely with her, she was able to pass and get her warrior name! Quickly rising from her nest, the golden and white molly quickly slipped out of the warriors den and into the clearing. The warm sunlight hitting her fur, her blue eyes closing for a moment. It was a hard leaf-bare, but she was confident that things would get better when the snow melted. The young warrior began padding towards the clearing, biting her lower lip as she was trying to figure out what to do. A hunting patrol was leaving, she was debating if to tag along and help out, but she decided against it. Sunflower could check on the nursery queens and see if they had needed anything, as it seemed like everyone was working closely to make sure that the nursery den was all patched up. It appeared that she was lost in thought, because next thing Sunflower knew was that she had bumped into someone. Her light blue eyes were widened as she felt herself slipping with the ice but thankfully the feline managed to grab her gently by the scruff before the smaller molly completely fell face first into the icy area of the clearing. Letting out a soft squeak in surprise, Sunflower managed to gather her footing slowly before feeling the other feline releasing her. “I-I’m so sorry!” Sunflower exclaimed, her eyes widening when seeing it was Amberhawk. The golden and white molly’s cheeks were heating up. How could she embarrass herself badly and she wasn’t even a warrior for a week! Her mouth parted in shock as she was trying to figure out what to say when looking up at the larger tom. The golden bengal was well known for making the journey to save the clans from the black throat plague when he was a mere apprentice, the two had a couple of moons apart from them but never properly interacted with each other unless it was for patrolling. “H-Hi Amberhawk” Sunflower said softly, as she was cringing with how she was being. The molly was quite a shy cat, not really speaking to someone until being spoken to. It was due to being the only kit in her litter and her parents being overprotective because of it. Taking a couple of breaths to calm herself down, a sheepish smile appeared on her face “Uh.. How are you? Did you do anything interesting in the border patrol this morning?” Sunflower questioned, wanting to generally know how it was. “I’m so sorry, about bumping into you.. I was just thinking of what to do, it feels weird not having a mentor not telling you what to do anymore.” Sunflower confessed, as she was surely adjusting to warriorhood. Maybe Amberhawk knew a couple of tips.

Amberhawk smiled down softly at the feline, his nose twitching as he offered her a small chuckling watching her tail sway at his compliment; wanting to see her smile again the tom cat leaned down his muzzle close to her ear his words a mere whisper “Sunflower, you are a gorgeous warrior.” His gaze peered back at her to catch her expression as he guided her out of the Thunderclan camp.
Amberhawk would be lying if he didn't feel a warmth of pride swelling within him, he honestly didn't think anyone even cared that he was gone. Even when he returned home aside from getting his warrior name, finally, his family didn’t even seem to notice that he helped save the clans. “There’s nothing to admire really, I couldn't exactly ignore Starclans order.” Trying his best to make sure he didn’t come off as a bastard by bragging about his part in the journey. He got an amazing experience that most cats don't get to have.
“I don't regret going though, I met some amazing warriors on my journey. Who knew that the warriors from the other clans would be so…nice” Growing up most kits are always taught that the others clan are horrible cats that would start a fight on sight but this time gave him a new insight on the other clans
“Orion was a loner that took refuge in Windclan who got to accompany us on the journey. I look up to him so much, I really hope he sticks around in Windclan, you’d really like him. Maybe one day I can introduce you two.” Amberhawk blushed slightly when he realized the praise he was giving the other feline who wasn't even in his presence. Clearing his throat he turned his attention back to the she cat beside him now, enjoying their stroll, lost in the happiness he felt in this moment.
The mention of his aunt and all her kits caught his attention, knowing he was doomed to mentor one of his cousins, “Sunflower, I’ve seen you out in the field before. I know whichever one of the little heathens gets to be your apprentice is going to be lucky to spend so much time with you.”
Taking in a deep breath Amberhawk pranced in front of Sunflower, his gaze staring down at her, he felt his heart pounding in his ears, praying the molly could not hear how nervous he was.
“Actually I’d um I’d like to spend more time with you…if you’d allow me the pleasure.”

Her light blue eyes looked up at Amberhawk, mouth open as she couldn’t quite form her words when looking up at the larger tom. Stars, he was quite a gentleman. Looking into his honey golden eyes, the smaller molly shook her head to snap out of her thoughts as he began rambling. Sunflower’s ears perked up and nodded, listening eagerly and taking every word in. However her cheeks began heating up and a blush appeared on her face when Amberhawk had called her a beauty, no one had called her that in front of her before. “You think that I’m pretty?” Sunflower breathed, her tail waving back and forth in happiness but her heart was fluttering and butterflies forming in her stomach. Such an unexpected moment, she never felt this kind of giddiness before.
“Ah yes, you can never go wrong with food!” The golden and white molly said with a soft smile. Wow, Amberhawk was so wise.. Sunflower could certainly learn a lot from him. The molly was always so shy and quiet, more of an observer than anything. It was a useful skill, but all the other apprentices including her mentor had encouraged Sunflower to become more outgoing as she couldn’t be a wallflower forever. Watching the larger tom for a moment, the golden and white molly looked down shyly when offering to go on a little border patrol with her. Amberhawk was so kind, Sunflower was extremely grateful for that. Looking up with a gentle smile on her face and nodding, the smaller molly beckoned her head towards the entrance of the camp before looking at her companion “Shall we get going?” Sunflower questioned before letting him lead the way as the two felines began padding towards a little trail.
“You know, I admire you-” Sunflower suddenly said, before her eyes widened with how it sounded. Another blush appeared on her face as she quietly spoke “With how you were so brave enough to go on the search for the herb.” She quickly finished saying, hoping that she didn’t fully embarrass herself. Avoiding his glance for a moment, Sunflower cleared her throat before looking at him “Where do you suggest we start? Perhaps the forest to see how the Shadowclan border is?” Sunflower questioned, as they began going towards that direction. Her light pawsteps caused soft crunching noises in the snow. Starclan, why was she such a shy and quiet molly? Thinking, the molly was trying to think of another conversation starter as she didn’t like silence for so long
“Peachblossom and Snarlingbadger’s kits are growing so quickly.. All of them.” Sunflower observed, remembering the kits that she had visited before. The molly didn’t know how the parents juggled all those kits, but she thought it was pretty cool that all the kits were never left out and were equally loved. Even their child in Shadowclan was involved! “We better get ready to become mentors huh?” She teased as they padded in the Oak Forest. It was so breathtaking in the winter time.
Warm rays from the sunlight wew always welcomed, more so during this time of year. The young golden warrior was fed up with the cold weather, he just wanted to enjoy his time basking in the sun. The only bad thing that the warmth brought was those damned birds, he had gotten enough time with birds to last him a lifetime during the journey. Amberhawsk large canine exposed momentarily as a wide mouthed yawn escaped his muzzle, the excitement had calmed down since he returned home. Dont misunderstand, Amberhawk loved Thunderclan, it was his home after all but admittedly he missed being around so many …. Interesting personalities, especially Orion. The golden tom had grown very close to Windclans guest, and Amberhawk had no clue if he was even still in Windclan, the nomad could have easily already passed through, leaving Windclan and Amberhawk behind. His mundane life was just that, mundane.
Alright Amberhawk, enough laying around. If Orion was bored he’d go find his own fun. Leaving his nice and warm sunbathing spot, his paws trotted rhythmically across the solid ground. He hadn’t the slightest idea of what he was going to do, he just knew he needed to do something, he didn't want to turn into a lazy warrior. Nothing was going to stand in Amberhawks way, he was going to find something to do today, well he didn't think anything would stand in his way, until something was. By something, to be more clear it was someone, and they weren't exactly standing, more like falling. Oh shit she's falling. Before he knew it his mouth was full of the fur of the she cat, “I got you.” Though he wasn’t sure if speaking was worth it, as his words were muffled by the mouthful of fur. Once he was sure the molly found her footing, he slowly relaxed his jaws allowing her to stand on her own. His deep honey eyes stared down at the molly as she spoke to him, Sunflower, she was one of the newer warriors. Words around the den were that she had a lot of potential, if she became more outspoken, at least that what he heard from the elders. “Evening Miss Sunflower. With the weather warming up we were able to finally see the trees and bushes sprouting their flowers. Not too many but you can definitely see them forming. So I could say that it is mighty interesting.” Amberhawk default mode was indeed ramble mode, he hadn’t the slightest idea as to why that was the topic he deemed as “interesting” but the words had already flown from his lips.
“I’m just glad I was there to catch you. Can’t have such a beauty getting hurt could we?” Amberhawk cringed at his own words, why in the hell would he say something so stupid. His teeth grinded as he tried to find the words to cover up his stupidity, thankfully he could switch topics to her other comment. “It certainly was strange at first, it's quite easy to get overwhelmed with all the possibilities. When in doubt, the clan would always use more food.” Tossing a glance towards the fresh kill pile, it wasn’t exactly running low but it also wasn't as full as it could be. His attention moved back to the molly, “It's best to find the task you enjoy most and work on it from there. Some prefer staying in the camp and making repairs to the den, and helping the elders and queens. The others will take notice of this and assign you to more of those tasks. Hanging around camp isn't really meant for me, I much more enjoy exploring the territory. You would think that as long as we’ve been here we would know all there is to know about our territory but there is always something more to see.”
“If you’re lost I wouldn’t mind helping you find something to do. We could always start with doing our own mini “border patrol” or even get a little bit of hunting out of the way.”
