Honeypaw
Thunderclan Apprentice
The ginger tuxedo was carefully making his way into the camp, it was very late within the night and everyone had retired to their dens after a long day. Everyone except him. Honeypaw just couldn't sleep! These days, the large tom has become extremely restless as of recently with everything happening. If it wasn’t the serial killer on the loose, it was the everyday life of an apprentice. Growing up wasn’t an easy thing, he certainly knew that. Honeypaw always seeked comfort in his brother Badgerpaw and Bunnypaw, his younger sister. Since kithood, he always found himself closer with the two more than anyone.
Of course there was Lilypool as well.
Honeypaw’s relationship with Lilypool was slightly complicated, he couldn’t describe it. His mentor and him were very close friends and trained together, but she kept him at an arm's length like everyone else. Badgerpaw had reassured him, telling him that every mentor was like that. Snapping out of his thoughts, it wasn’t until he spotted Bunnypaw leaving the apprentices den as well. A boyish grin appeared on his face once seeing his sister “Come on Slowpoke.” Honeypaw teased, his light blue eyes shined with excitement. Bunnypaw and Honeypaw had a lot of heart to heart talks, something he couldn’t really have with anyone else. Would Lilypool and Bunnypaw’s mentor be upset in the morning? Sure, but both of them could deal with the consequences in the morning.
Both of them went towards the middle of the clearing, suddenly the massive tom had flopped down on his back and Honeypaw had let out a long sigh. Feeling his smaller sister laying next to him, he turned his head to look over at her “You think that when I earn my warrior name, they’ll let me go straight to the elder’s den? Certainly feel my bones cracking with the amount of training I had recently.” Honeypaw joked, but certainly could tell something was on Bunnypaw’s mind. “What’s on your mind Rabbit?” He questioned, using his nickname that he gave her when they were kits. Growing up was certain, but family and love was something they would permanently be dealing with for the rest of their lives.

The she-cat's ears flicked at her elder brother's easy identification of her sacreligious feelings, and she glanced away, leaning forward to rest her chin onto her paws. Bunnypaw echoed his sigh, she reached out, and placed her paw on his as she finally cast her gaze back to him again. His words blossomed thoughts in her mind...
Was that what she wanted from her own life? To become a mate, to have kits, and continue the bloodline? As Bunnypaw took a moment to consider it, the same tom flashed into her mind once more. Letting out a sniff, she lashed her tail, willing herself to chase him from her mind. Stupid loner tom, making her feel so weird and sappy... But the more she thought, the more she realised just how unachievable that kind of life would be for her.
Her condition would make having kits of her own dangerous, and possibly even fatal, and the realisation of that hit her like a brick. A chasm opened up within her heart, and she felt her ears instinctively flattening against her skull, tail sweeping sadly across the camp floor.
"Well..." She started, giving him a sheepish glance. "If...I tell you, you can't tell anyone, okay? Not even mom or dad." Bunnypaw looked up at him with a sense of urgency, leaning toward him, eyes burning with intensity.
"But...I guess I should probably talk to someone about it... I need to get it out of my system..." To be honest, she just wanted to distract herself from the agonising pain in her heart, caused by her own revelation about herself. "...A few moons ago, I ran into this tom...he was strange." She mewed, "He didn't hurt me, but I saw him again just a half-moon ago, and he..."
Bunnypaw felt that heat once more rising to her face. "Ever since, I haven't been able to stop thinking about him. It's stupid...because he isn't even a clan cat, and I couldn't even have a family of my own ever..." Her ears and whiskers drooped, as tears began to prick at the corners of her eyes. "But he was very handsome...and I..." The look she gave her elder brother was one of pure desperation. "I don't know what to do..."

“I can see that you’re easily distracted these days, you’ve got something on your mind.” Honeypaw said, his eyebrow arched for a moment. It wasn’t a question, more of a statement. Of course, the ginger tuxedo wasn’t going to pressure his little sister into saying anything that she didn’t wish to. Bunnypaw’s business was her own, nothing could change that. Letting out a soft sigh, the large tom settled into his spot and looked at the moon. A million thoughts had gone through his head, mainly his issues with his own personal life. One thing was for certain, Honeypaw put others and their thoughts first before his own.
“It feels weird.” Honeypaw started, noticing his sister looking at his direction but the tom kept looking up at the moon. A small chuckle escaped him “How everyone grows up, their main objection is to leave some kind of legacy behind.. To leave a permanent pawstep in the world.” The ginger tuxedo observed for a moment, it was quite rare when he engaged in deep conversations.. That was usually reserved for only Lilypool. A small shrug escaped him, making a face for a moment “That everyone is suppose to find a mate one day, grow old and have some kits.” Honeypaw mumbled, lost in thought for a moment. It wasn’t until he realized that Bunnypaw was still with him that he let out a loud sigh “Universe works in weird ways, don’t forget that everything happens for a reason.”
He finished his sentence while noticing that Bunnypaw was staring at the entrance of the camp, Honeypaw furrowed his eyebrows for a moment. What was the calico so focused on? “You have something on your mind,” Honeypaw stated, biting the inside of his cheek. The ginger tuxedo wasn’t one to pry for information, but he noticed that Bunnypaw had became easily distracted as of late “I’m not going to give the ‘You can always approach me anytime’ speech because it’s not my business nor anyone else’s, but others will start to catch on soon.” Honeypaw pointed out, a frown on his face

Tossing and turning in her nest, Bunnypaw stubbornly tried to keep her eyes shut and sleep, but no amount of effort would bring dreams to her. Heaving a heavy sigh, she reluctantly pulled herself to her paws, and padded toward the entrance of the apprentices den. Maybe she could sneak out, and walk through the forest... it always helped her to clear her head.
As she left the den, her fur fluffed up against the slight chill in the air, she flicked her ears upon hearing pawsteps around the camp. Recently, sleep troubles had plagued the sick apprentice. Every time she closed her eyes, her dreams were filled with a white-and-grey tom who she had first met moons ago. Heat crawled beneath her pelt just thinking about him, and the way his eyes had seemed to stare so deeply into hers.
It didn't help that Bunnypaw had to stay in camp constantly, avoiding pushing herself too hard. Often, the young she-cat wished she could be normal, but she knew that she would never be.
She was fated to constantly be pitied by her clanmates, and coddled for her weaknesses instead of celebrated for her strengths, in her eyes. As much as Hawkstar had praised her for her assistance in tracking down the dog that had lost its collar, she knew that there were cats who pitied her for it being her only use.
But that perception was starting to wane, ever since she met that mysterious lone tom. Bunnypaw's attention snapped to her littermate when she heard his voice, and she puffed out her chest half-heartedly.
"I'm not a slowpoke!" She mewed, hurrying her pawsteps so she could catch up with her brother. Laying herself down beside him, she couldn't help but giggle at his comment. "...Maybe! I think you'll fit in in the elders' den!" She prodded him with her paw, but her joking was quickly followed by a small sigh.
Her brother knew her too well... but she wasn't the most subtle, either. That familiar warm feeling began creeping beneath her pelt, and she twitched her tail nervously.
"It's nothing, Honey, don't worry..." She mewed, casting her glance back toward the exit of camp, as if she were subconsciously willing the tom taking over her thoughts to pad in through the thorn tunnel any second.
