Edgefrost
Riverclan Warrior
The large black and gray tom was strolling through the stream, his dark green eyes narrowed slighly while his gaze remained on the fishing stones. It appeared the ice was a bit more firm than the previous year, which he knew would cause some kind of trouble for Riverclan later on if they couldn’t break the ice. Moving towards the edge of the stream, Edge placed a large paw on the ice and began gently pressing on it. A couple of moments later, the tom heard cracking noises and eventually caused the ice to break. Drawing back his paw slighly, Edge shook the water away from it while ignoring the wind that was passing through which caused a slight shiver. Grumbling a couple of curse words, the Riverclan warrior slowly backed up and began walking into the direction of the forest.
It had been hectic in Riverclan as of lately with Leaf-Bare, mainly with the amount of land prey being scarce and having to resort to fishing in the streams. Edge had decided to leave Sparrowpaw in Stormypaw’s care once more as he thought the two had worked very well together in their first training session. Despite the two apprentices not getting along, Edge knew that both of them working together had caused both of their training to be effective as they were improving greatly, they just didn’t know it. Letting out a soft hum, it wasn’t until the familiar scent of Thunderclan entered his nose that caused the large Maine Coon to narrow his eyes before releasing a small huff and quickly turning towards the direction to head straight there. What was with Thunderclan felines always intruding into Riverclan territory? Didn’t they have anything better to do these days?
Edge wasn’t in the mood to deal with others today, he wanted to get his mini task accomplished before fetching Sparrowpaw and Stormypaw at the training grounds to observe the apprentices. It wasn’t until the sight of a Bengal had caused him to stop, her blue eyes were focused on the water that was within the stream. The molly looked at peace, looked a bit tired too. It didn’t matter to Edge, she was still trespassing. “Hey!” Edge called out, his dark green eyes narrowed when stalking towards her. Wanting to get the molly away from Riverclan territory, it was usually his job to be brooding around Riverclan territory. Once he saw the molly up close, Edge’s eyes remained narrowed and beckoned his head towards the direction of Thunderclan territory
“Let’s go Sweetheart, you’re trespassing.” Edge said, ushering her towards the direction of the woods. Usually he was more hostile, but Edge figured he would give the Bengal beauty a pass since she looked like she was generally confused and probably crossed the border by mistake. As the two of them were padding through the forest, Edge released a small snort “While you’re a beauty with some sort of brain, be mindful next time.” Edge advised, as he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. The Riverclan warrior wasn’t a babysitter, his kits had more common sense. Looking towards the Thunderclan molly, he arched an eyebrow “Don’t seem like the type to look for shells, you were looking for one or a pebble?” Edge questioned, knowing that spot of the stream seemed popular with felines finding shiny and beautiful shells or pebbles. Letting out a mere shrug, the black and gray Maine Coon looked forward “Not the best place to look for shells anyways, at least not the ones that I like.. My favorite ones tend to be at a pond about a couple of minutes away from here.” Edge observed, as the molly probably didn’t care about his thoughts and was most likely wanting to get away from him.
Chanterellefrost |The Unbroken of Thunderclan|
Refraining from smiling too much as she could sense and see Edgefrost’s gaze linger on her for longer than necessary. It was a refreshing feeling, something she had not felt in a long time. Biting her lower lip lightly, feeling her cheeks heat up as he once again calls her beautiful as he compliments her name. “Thank you, Edge” Chant hums out, her gaze flickering over into the depths of the forest within Thunderclan, wondering if anyone had noticed her long absence—hopefully not. Ears perking up at the tall black and gray Maine Coon instantly catches her attention as he raises his paw up, revealing his scarred pads. The small cherry brown bengal could not help but gently cup his large paw within her own, while using her other paw to lightly trace the small raised scars. “Seems you like to find the broken ones” she lightly jokes, flashing him a grin.
Chant found it fascinating, the thought of searching and finding her own shell, wishing that Thunderclan had bodies of water that held such intriguing items. Brows furrowing as Edgefrost suddenly stands, for a brief moment she thought their conversation had drawn to a close. Yet, it would seem that he was not ready for it to end so fast. Chanterellefrost was only hesitant for a moment, contemplating if she should cross back into Riverclan. The old her would be throwing a fit at the thought of breaking the rules, but the newer part? Said go for it. Brushing carefully against him as she rejoins him back on Riverclan soil, “I am in no hurry to leave. Now show me these shells!” Chant excitedly meows with a small skip in her step as she follows right beside the taller tomcat.
The chemistry between the two felines is so strong, that it surprised her just how comfortable and trusting she felt towards Edgefrost. Having only known him for 30 minutes and yet was willingly following him to his favorite spot within Riverclan. She could not deny the attraction, knowing that is more than likely about as far as their feelings would go…but could not deny herself of this. Chant had promised herself to be more open and to follow her heart not her mind. The ends of her fur tingling as he continues to lightly brush against her, testing the waters and giving her plenty of time to change her mind. Silently appreciating his gesture as she leans her head carefully upon his shoulder as his tail brings her flush against his. Purring softly as he intertwines their tails as he leads her further away from the border. Tonight was looking promising—hopefully nothing or no one ruins their moment.
Peering over Edgefrost, her bright blue eyes zeroing in on the pond as they pause before the entrance. She could just make out the faint glow of the dying light from the sun as it retreats for the night. The faint calming sounds of the water moving with the current put Chanterelle at ease. Nodding as he releases their tails, allowing her to venture further into the small hidden grove. Lips parting in silent awe as she tries to take everything in, the sight before her was so enchanting and mystical. Bashfully smiling up at Edge as he nudges her carefully to gain her attention, “Sorry” she mutters before following him to the pond. The water looked so clear and refreshing, her attention drawn to the faint ripples traveling through the water. The atmosphere surrounding them was thick with a tangible intimacy as he settles behind her, his chest pressed lightly against her back as his large paws cup hers to guide them into the water.
Fighting back a shiver as the cool water lap at her skin, her ears twitching as his breath fans against her paper-thin ears as he softly talks. At first Chant was more fascinated with listening to Edge, hanging onto every word he said as he fondly recounts his time with his mother. A soft pang hits her chest as she silently wished that she had the same relationship with her mother, as Chant did not even know if her parents where still alive as they left the clans—not caring on who they were leaving behind. Snapping out of her thoughts, instead focusing on his paws over hers and the feeling of the water caressing her as they dutifully search for a shell. “Your mother sounds lovely. Bet she has a whole shell collection by now” Chant hums softly out, she could sense not to delve deeper into the conversation of his mother, having noticed he had mentioned her in past tense. The bengal Molly did not want to assume she had passed or if she was alive. Enjoying the brief moment of silence as she allows Edgefrost to remanence in peace.
She could not help the twitch of her lips as she frowns at the loss of contact as he pulls away, arching a brow as she searches more carefully through the sand. It took her a moment to realize that he had only been making sure there were no broken shells, not wanting her to cut up her pads in the process. Excitement coursing through her veins as she feels the smooth form of a shell as they delicately scoop the figurine into their paws. “Had a good teacher” she compliments with a purr. Shifting her form to face Edge, her paws still clasped together, hiding the shell from both of their sights. Closing her eyes for a moment as his forehead presses against hers, their breaths now intertwining with each breath. Tilting her chin downwards slightly as she opens her paws, revealing a small baby blue scallop shell. Gasping in awe before glancing up at Edge, a bright smile forming on her lips. It was then Chanterellefrost noticed just how close his lips were to hers, all she would need to do is move a few inches closer to shorten the distance. Nibbling on her lower lip as her turquoise blue eyes flicker from his lips to his dark green eyes, silently wondering if he wanted the same thing.
After a moment of debating, Chant slowly moves her muzzle closer, giving him time to pull away before pressing her lips carefully against his. Eyes closing at the contact of their lips, her paws still holding her shell, enjoying being blissfully wrapped in the moment with Edgefrost.
Edgefrost
Riverclan Warrior
Watching the cherry Bengal stepped into her side of the border, a small smirk appeared on his face when she mentioned his manners of complimenting while criticizing, the image of a blue Maine Coon molly had entered his mind. Wherever Iris was, Edge hoped that crazy house cat was doing fine in whatever cave she resided in now. Letting out a soft hum when the Thunderclan molly brushed against him lightly, her scent entering his nostrils, Chanterellefrost had a fascinating scent to her. “Edge, while your name is very unique for a beautiful female like yourself.” Edge said, his dark green eyes were looking into her turquoise eyes while a grin appeared on his face. The black and gray Maine Coon had looked at the small molly for a moment, his tufted ears perked in interest as Chanterellefrost had mentioned searching for pebbles and seemed somewhat interested in shells, which was different from the typical Thunderclan female.
Lifting up his left paw until his paw pad was visible , small scars were surrounding it while Edge narrowed his eyes playfully “With Shells, it’s more tricky searching for them because sometimes the broken ones are more easy to find.” Edge mumbled, his eyes shining in amusement. It was refreshing speaking to a new feline who didn’t reside in his clan, as Edge was often annoyed with everyone who breathed near him who wasn’t his loved ones. Suddenly standing up, the large Maine Coon beckoned his head towards the direction of the pond. “Let’s go, I’ll have you back before nightfall.” Edge said, watching as the cherry Bengal stepped over towards the Riverclan border, brushing lightly against him as the two began to make their way through the territory. The black and gray Maine Coon could care less if he was going to get lectured if a clan mate saw him cuddling up to a warrior from a rival clan, not when the gorgeous female was flirting with him as well.
Edge was certainly interested in the molly, the way that she carried herself along with the natural glow that Chanterellefrost had. The chemistry between them was high, Edge hadn’t felt comfortable with a female for a while, and he had experienced a number of them. The Maine Coon was brushing himself against the Bengal, testing the waters between them. Despite his rude nature, Edge was a gentleman at best due to his mother and sisters. His feathery tail had moved slowly towards her hip, before pulling her in closer until they were pressed against each other. Edge looked over to see if the cherry Bengal was uncomfortable with his actions, but instead she rested her head on his shoulder and released a gentle purr. It wasn’t until his tail moved until it intertwined with her own, carefully guiding her through the forest while enjoying their time together.
Attraction was a dangerous thing.
Moving until they were at the entrance of the pond, a small grin appeared on his face before beckoning his head towards the direction of the pond “Promise you’ll have a good time.” He said, his dark green eyes were focused on her. Releasing her tail with his own, he watched the Thunderclan molly take a couple of steps forward until her turquoise eyes were focused on the pond and surrounding area. A smile appeared on Edge’s face when looking down at her, how Chanterellefrost was completely in awe of her surroundings. Taking a couple of steps forward until the large Maine Coon was next to her, a gentle smile appeared on his face before nudging her shoulder “Come on.” Edge muttered before both of them moved towards the small pond. This area held a lot of memories for him, as it was a favorite spot of his when Edge was just merely an apprentice. The little pond was a place for escaping when things got overwhelming, or wanted a change of scenery.
Guiding Chanterellefrost towards the pond, Edge watched as the molly sat at the edge of the body of water and began to admire the shells, pebbles and water creatures that inhabited the pond. The large black and gray Maine Coon moved until he was sitting behind her, her back was pressed against his chest as his paws moved down until resting on her smaller ponds “My mother always had loved shells, would always end up here at night when curfew would take effect cause I wanted to find the best one.” Edge said quietly, submerging both their paws into the clear water as he began guiding Chanterellefrost’s paws in the water. Memories of his mother entered his mind, a small smile escaped him at the thought of Swanpath. The white molly always had a place in his heart, hoping that his beloved mother was proud of what he accomplished so far while also wanting to smack him in the back of the head for some of his actions.
“It’s tricky finding the perfect shell, but it takes time and patience.” Edge said, removing his paws from her own for a moment to inspect the area within the water to ensure there weren't any broken shells around the bengal’s paws before deeming it’s safe, before his paws went back to the beautiful molly’s. Biting the inside of his cheek before finally feeling a smooth shell at the back of his paw and quickly guided Chanterellefrost’s paw towards it and felt her grabbing it, which caused Edge to nod in approval “That’s how it’s done, let’s see your prize.” Edge said, his face turning towards her own while resting his forehead on her own.
Chanterellefrost |The Unbroken of Thunderclan|
Chanterellefrost sighs softly to herself as she slips away from the suffocating clearing, the last few moons had been certainly a new change for the cherry amber bengal. It felt almost surreal that her and Hawkstar were no more, that they had mutually decided to end their chapter. Too many changes had formed between the two use-to-be lovers, getting together at such a young age had something to do with the sudden shift between them, as they were not done growing into themselves. She knew it was for the best for her and her family as she could sense that her children knew that neither were happy in their relationship anymore. She still cared deeply for Hawkstar, but at the same time needed to distance herself from him. She wanted to be known as Chanterellefrost, not Hawkstar’s ex mate. She wants to be her own being without being associated to her past lover.
Smiling to herself as her mind drifts back to earlier that morning when Robinpaw and Rubypaw argue over an aqua blue glass pebble that Chanterelle has collected over the years. The young apprentices had seen her collection as she removed her remaining things from the leader’s den a few days prior. It gave her the idea and excuse she needed to leave camp. She will create a little collection for her young kits! A tradition she should have done with her first litter. Humming a quiet toon under her breath as she pads through the wintery woods, leafbare would soon be behind them but it was certainly putting up a fight! The evening sun peeking through the maple trees, causing a blush hue to form around her, reflecting in the snow upon the ground and ice within the trees. It was truly a magical moment that brought a tranquil aura to Chanterelle.
This is what she needed. No listening to Hawkstar continuously complain about the Shadowclan leader, Juncostar. Or listening to her kits argue or complain about their apprenticeship duties. Right now—in this moment it was about her. Knowing a perfect spot along the river to find glass pebbles, causes the bengal to pick up her pace as she did not want to waste anymore daylight. Ignoring the powdered snow coating her cherry red pelt from lightly bumping into low branches as she breaks free into a clearing along the river. Smiling in relief as she could tell that the ice along the bank of the river was thin enough for her to break through if needed. For now she wanted to admire the sleek almost glass appearance to the stillness of the River.
Leaning over carefully as she peers within, her reflection staring back at her with the same kind of wonder. Her stunning cyan and turquoise blue eyes almost glow within the dim lighting as she takes note of her slightly tired appearance—double patrols and late night strolls were catching up on her, but that did nothing to hide the glow of her new independence. The bengal molly had been so deep within thought while absentmindedly looking for glass pebbles for her kits, that she did not even take note of the change of scent around her. Having veered off her usual path along the river caused Chanterelle to enter Riverclan without her knowledge. It was not until she heard a deep firm baritone voice call out to her does she look up. Her blue eyes widening in surprise at the sudden interruption.
Though her surprise only intensified when taking note of who was approaching her. Chant could not help but take in the large dark and gray tabby Maine Coon warrior, his muscles flexing with each powerful stride, not to mention his piercing forest green eyes that seemed to peer into her soul. Allowing herself a moment to admire such a handsome feline, knowing that Edgefrost could sense her intrigued gaze. What was she doing? Gawking at a stranger? Yet, she could not bring herself to look away. Biting her inner cheek as he pauses a few lengths away, it was then she realized that she was no longer in Thunderclan. Ears flicking back in embarrassment, clearing her throat as she tries to buy herself time to think of a plausible explanation for trespassing. She was certainly starting off the whole ‘new me’ by breaking the warrior code. Chant sheepishly follows after Edgefrost, wondering why he was not angry at being on his side of the border.
Trying to ignore the way he said ‘sweetheart’ it was odd for Chanterelle to hear little pet names coming from another tom, even though it had been awhile since she had been called sweetheart---she liked it. “I am sorry…” she begins, knowing she needed to explain her mishap. “I was distracted and did not notice I strayed a little too far from Thunderclan” she sincerely apologizes. Blinking in surprise as he calls her beautiful yet reprimands her thoughtless actions, now while many would be offended, and maybe in the past she would have, but she could not help the soft chuckle escape her. “Is that how you talk to every stranger? Complimenting and criticizing within the same sentence? Very impressive” The cherry brown bengal smiles with amusement, making sure she did not give off the tone of antagonizing him. “I am usually more mindful of my whereabouts, if you must know…I was on a mission” Chant adds, if he wasn’t going to be aggressive towards her, she might as well make conversation with the handsome stranger! “How could you tell that I am not the type to collect shells? What gave it away? Except for the fact I know nothing about shells” she teases with a coy smirk, her pelt lightly brushing against his as she follows along. Her interest peaks as he goes on to explain where the best place to find shells are at.
Stepping on the borderline as she turns to face Edgefrost, there was just something about him the drew her in, maybe it was his mysterious aura or maybe it was from how kind he had been to escort her back without being snarky and rude. “I wish I could see the pond, I bet it is beautiful. Wonder if there is any glass pebbles” Chant hums out as her cyan and turquoise gaze locks with Edge’s once more. “My name is Chanterellefrost, and what should I call my handsome escort?” She decides to ask, he had called her beautiful—albeit offhandedly, but she thought she would return the compliment. She did not want to admit that she did not want this short chance meeting to end just yet.
