Monarchwing
Skyclan Warrior
The black and ginger molly’s bi-colored eyes remained narrowed as she entered the island for the gathering. Watching her father disband from the small Skyclan group and going towards the leaders’ rock, which caused other felines from Skyclan start wandering to socialize with others from different clans. Opening her mouth for a second, she was going to follow her younger sister Emberbird.. But the ginger molly had already ran off to speak with others from Shadowclan. A small huff escaped Monarchwing as she just sat there, ignoring any glances that were thrown her way.. She didn’t want to go to the gathering tonight, why did her father make her?!
Edge was speaking with his older brother Orion, congratulating him on the birth of his latest litter.. When he noticed that Blackthorn was staring at someone, causing the black tom to be distracted. “Earth to Blackthorn! You’re being rude.” Edge snapped at him, rolling his eyes. It wasn’t until Edge’s dark green gaze had followed Blackthorn’s and it landed on.. Edge’s niece, Monarchwing “Oh Hell, are you staring at my niece?!” Edge questioned with an arch eyebrow
Blackthorn’s mind was elsewhere. He’d been watching the lake, its surface calm like glass. A single human boat cut a scar across the still waters shattering the likeness of the moon. No clouds cluttered the heavens. Nothing but pure starlight lit the grounds as cats milled about, their voices a unanimous hum like a colony of bees.
Then he’d seen her.
Blackthorn had never been much for gatherings before coming out as a tom. He’d hated crowds more then, hundreds of eyes drinking in his false mask. It was easier now, though in some ways more harrowing. Being rejected for who you weren’t was a lot less risky. So he knew few of the faces he saw tonight, having only been chosen for a few gatherings before. He had no name to put to the pretty calico across the way, though his gut told him she was surrounded by SkyClan cats, and so probably was one herself.
He jumped when Edgefrost spoke.
“Y-your niece?” His eyes darted between them, as though searching for some family resemblance. Then he seemed to droop, as if already defeated. “You’ve got so much kin in the other Clans, you can’t expect a guy to remember all of them…”
