W A S P S I G H T
A calico feline sat by his lonesome, his head turned upwards towards the night sky. But he wasn't staring at the stars. His eyes were closed, his ears were pricked forward, as if he were listening intently for something. And he was, truly. The whispers and words of those that only reached his ears. The words of the spirits and ancestors that whispered to him, told him their worries, gave him advice and spoke to him in ways they spoke to no other. He listened to every one of them. And every night, he sat here. Alone. His evenings, he would spend taking in the concerns of the dead. Waspsight took it all in as his one and only burden. For he was the only one that would truly hear their voices. He would whisper back to them, alleviate their worries and soothe their souls.
Waspsight opened his eyes. Quietly, he got to his paws. Normally, by now he would call it a night and return to his nest for some sleep, but tonight, he had a different matter to attend to.
The healer and spiritual medium made his way to the mouth of the leader's den. He paused for but a heartbeat, his mind returning to memories of Smokestar, of Juncostar, and of Mercuryrose... He had lived through more than one figurehead in his life and he mourned the loss of each one of them. But now, it was his duty to nurture the spirituality of his latest leader, Ravenstar.
He invited himself into the den and stopped near the mouth of the tom's nest. "Ravenstar," He quietly spurred the young tom awake, "I'm sorry to awaken you, but it's important. Would you join me, please?"
Ravenstar
Shadowclan Leader
It was certainly new territory for Ravenstar, to tune into his spiritual side of life. The black tom had listened to the calico tom’s question for a moment which caused the young leader to hesitate for a moment.. Ravenstar was attempting to stop the voices of his spirit guides mainly from whispering in his ear, it was overbearing at times “I’m worried Waspsight.. Will their voices overwhelm me? Will they make me lose my way” He questioned the medicine cat, his golden gaze looked over at the smaller tom. Ravenstar had the upmost respect for Waspsight, he knew it had taken years for Wapsight to understand his abilities.. Ravenstar just didn’t know if he had the emotional and mental capability to withstand such an ability.
Looking up, Ravenstar’s golden gaze remained at the stars.. The gentle breeze going through his fur. Closing his eyes for a moment, he heard the soft murmurs of voices, shaking his head slightly. “Ravenstar.” A whisper said softly, to which his gaze turned to the sight of Leafstorm, the Shadowclan elder who gave him his first life.. “You have a duty to perform.. While Leadership isn’t a prize to be won.. It’s more of a burden to wear.. These lives that live in your clan, from the most newborn kit to the oldest elder.. Every single life is precious in that clan, it is yours to protect and cherish.” Leafstorn had said, which Ravenstar understood. Aspenwood and Ravenstar had treated the fight for leadership as if it was a competition, neither one of them understood the actual responsibility.
“Starclan has many ways of sending messages.” Ravenstar agreed with Waspsight. The black leader tensed slightly at Waspsight’s warning, looking at the red star that flickered for a moment before disappearing. “What’s happening?” Ravenstar muttered, his eyebrows furrowed. Looking at the night sky, the leader watched to see if any other stars flickered and suddenly went out.. But alas, none had. “Let them in.” Ravenstar said softly, knowing Waspsight was right. It was going to take a moment to understand his abilities, but Waspsight would certainly guide him in the right direction.
“There is a storm coming, uncertainty in Starclan.” A voice said softly, to which it caused both males to turn around. Ravenstar’s mouth opened slightly at the sight of Mercuryrose behind them. The former Shadowclan leader looked more youthful, her scars had vanished and the way that her eyes shined.. Mercuryrose looked just as beautiful as the million stars in the sky, it had pleased Ravenstar that his mother had found peace. “Now more than ever, you'll need to stand with each other.. Support each other and lean on each other.. Just as I had with someone that is special in our hearts.” Mercuryrose said with a soft smile on her face.
“I hadn’t accepted my death for a while, having so many questions about why it happened.” Mercuryrose said softly, shaking her head slightly. Mercuryrose had a lot to live for, to show her potential as a leader just as she had been destined to do so. “However, Shadowclan has entered a new age, one that will certainly leave Shadowclan in a time of peace and health.” Mercuryrose said, before looking at Wapsight and moving towards the calico that had managed to worm his way into her small heart “You are the most gentle of heart, Waspsight.. Never let him lose his way, and I want you to do something for me.. I want you to enjoy your life Waspsight, enjoy your time as a parent and mate.. You certainly deserve every aspect of it.” Mercuryrose said, before leaning forward to give a kiss on Waspsight’s forehead
“I am so incredibly proud of you Waspsight, you may not be mine biologically.. You’re a son to me, and I hope that you find nothing but happiness in the future.”
“You both need to find the unease happening at Starclan, and help them.. They are at a standstill right now, and I fear that inner conflict is in their way.”
Ravenstar
Shadowclan Leader
His feathery tail was flicking back and forth, his large body was rested in his moss nest. The faint smell of Mintstrike lingered, even as a leader.. His father was always looking after him, which Ravenstar was extremely grateful of. One eye was closed while another eye was half open, looking at the wall of his den. The young leader had a busy day of work today, still figuring out his new leadership role while also mentoring his younger brother Leopardpaw.. His younger siblings, he sometimes wondered if he was doing right by them. Silkweb and her siblings within that litter was also very protective of them, they were babies when their mother had passed.. Did they even remember the former leader of Shadowclan?
Ravenstar couldn’t really sleep, he had so many thoughts on his main. However, the main thing that was bothering him was Larkpaw’s presence. The light brown tabby was peeking over, crouched beside the leader’s nest and observing Ravenstar. Larkpaw was the youngest spirit guide, but also was a child at heart. The leader didn’t really have the heart to shoo away the spirit apprentice, he knew that Larkpaw was mostly curious. It wasn’t until Ravenstar heard footsteps that caused him to close his eyes and his tail fell softly against his bed.
Larkpaw looked over and saw the form of Waspsight enter the den, his eyebrows furrowed for a moment. The smaller tom heard whispers of the medicine cat of Shadowclan and his gifts from the other spirits of Starclan, mainly about his achievements so far. Larkpaw bit the inside of his cheek for a moment, as he was trying figure out the medicine cat. Once hearing Waspsight’s voice, Ravenstar opened an eye to glance at him before his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What did the calico tom have in store for him? Letting out a sigh through his nostrils, the large tom got up and followed Waspsight
Larkpaw’s eyes widened as he began following after Waspsight and Ravenstar, what was happening? What did Waspsight have in store for Ravenstar? The black leader remained silent for a moment and looked towards Waspsight “Is there something on your mind?” He questioned. Ravenstar had known Waspsight when the leader was a mere kit, the calico tom watched him grow up. His mother had absolute trust in Waspsight, counting him as one of her most trusted friends.. Mercuryrose didn’t trust anyone really so it meant Waspsight’s friendship and loyalty was a lot to her.
