Great stars she was exhausted and sore, her stomach was in shambles as she listened to the soft whimpers of kittens. They were much too small, the smallest kits she had ever kitted. Luckily none of them were a still birth but the fact she was nestled in the medicine cat den only meant that Littlewoods was not confident enough to let her stay in the nursery with her newborns. After what felt like forever, she had finally given birth to four kittens, all toms. Vibrant green eyes looked down at the small dears as she wrapped her tail around them. Worried the cold would swipe them away from her, ears pinned to the back of her head. Despite the pain in her gut, she lowered down to sniff at their pelts, slowly and carefully licking their dirty fur in the wrong direction. Shivering slightly herself, she frowned as she watched one of her kittens struggle to latch. Their little mouths were almost too small, giving way to more anxiety, pressing her muzzle against the small rose gold toms rump to push him closer to her teat, his little mouth struggling but she could see small beads of milk on his lips. “There you go my little darling.” She said softly, whiskers twitching anxiously. Breathing in to calm her racing heart before she looked towards the entrance of the den to see Cometchaser walking in with fresh-kill hanging from his jaws. “Hello, love.” She smiled, purring hurt her stomach.

Letting out a fake gasp, his massive paw went towards his chest “My Rose, I’ll never accept that. I’m much more youthful everyday.” Orion said, giving her a cheeky wink. It just felt so right, waiting so long to fall in love and it was well worth it because he found his beautiful Rose on the most faithful day at all, all thanks to a stupid fox. Letting out a soft purr as she rested her head on his shoulder, Orion turned to look at her before leaning down and giving her a gentle kiss on the lips. Moving to place a kiss on her forehead, Orion’s gaze turned to look at his four sons with Goldenrose. They were perfect, their daughters were perfect, Goldnerose was perfect.
“I love you.” Cometchaser whispered to his mate, moving to nuzzle softly into her.
“I will carry the whole weight of the world for you, Rose” Orion began, a soft smile appeared on his face when looking at her. “I will always cheer you on with your accomplishments, always create laughter whenever you need it” Orion said, his tail lightly stroking her side. Looking towards their premature sons, he knew that Goldnerose and himself would face a couple of challenges to ensure their kits would have a normal life “I will share your sorrows, ensure that you and our family are always safe while I’m around” Orion promised, placing a massive paw on her much smaller ones. The amount of love that he has towards Goldnerose was infinite, nothing could change that.
“Because since the day we met, besides our kite’ births.. It’s the best day of my life”

Goldenrose was clicking her tongue slightly, letting her eyes roam over the kittens before she chuckled softly. “Wow. You do realize that you are nearing old age?” She teased, some light returning to her bright green eyes. Grinning to herself as she looked towards the hare, although she was not really in the mood to eat, she was glad he pressing the subject either. Glancing back to see Cometchaser giving their kits affection, the topic of names hanging between them.
Smiling to herself as she shifted to place her head against his shoulder, leaning into himself for a moment. Although her smile immediately was swiped away and replaced with a glower. “We are not naming one of our kits after an onion. I refuse.” She said with a clipped tone, eyes narrowing slightly. She refused to ever name a kitten after an onion. Humming, she turned her muzzle away from him, looking down at the rose-gold tabby, their largest kitten of the premature litter. “Blossomkit.” She repeated thoughtfully. Hopefully these kittens wouldn’t later regret having such feminine names but she was committing. “Barlowkit. Tulipkit. Daffodilkit. Blossomkit.” Nodding her head before she rested back against her mate. “I love it.”

Arching an eyebrow in amusement when looking down at his mate, Orion moved down to gently groom Barlowkit whose fur was sticking up slighly and listened to the small kit’s sounds. “It’s simply because those males don’t have taste, and plus the girls aren’t allowed to take a mate til I’m ripe wifh old age.” Orion said, pressing a gentle kiss to Barlow’s head before returning to lay down nearby Goldenrose. A playful grin appeared on his face “Although someone decided not to stay away from me, and she definitely has good taste besides food.” Cometchaser said, a cheeky grin appeared on his face. Despite everything they went through, Cometchaser was still madly in love with Goldenrose just as much as when their first date together happened.
A playful grin appeared on his face with his mate’s comment “Our girls had names similar to mine, our boys will have names similar to yours.. Although I’ll take Onionkit as an option.” Cometchaser teased, letting out a chuckle. Hell would freeze over before Goldenrose would allow him to name a kit after an Onion. His dark green gaze looked over at Daffodilkit, a bright grin appeared on his face “A fine name for a future hunter.” He said, the little one looked like he would be terrific at hunting. Looking at the final tom, perhaps the largest of the litter, Cometchaser rested his feathery tail on Goldenrose’s side more “How do you feel about Blossomkit, my Rose?” He questioned, looking up at her with a gentle smile.

Chin tilting slightly, the Molly hummed softly in amusement as he teased her. “I think I am changing my mind.” She meowed in a soft voice, her eyes lowered towards their kits as she used her tail to gently nudge them towards her belly before she couldn’t help but laugh at her mates tease. “Our girls are beginning to pick up on your humor and I am worried males will not be amused.” She teased right back, clearing her throat. Leaning down as she picked up another strip of hare meat, chewing on the meat with a thoughtful gaze. Their wee kittens definitely needed to be named.
Goldenrose was pleased that her mate agreed with the name Barlowkit, her eyes soft as she gazed down at the dark furred kitten. Although with her mate’s prompting, she turned her attention towards their rose-gold and white tabby tom, humming softly. “Tulipkit… Isn’t that a bit girly?” She asked with a tease, having to keep herself from giggling at his expression. “Although, I do love it. Tulipkit.” Nodding her head for a moment before she looked down at another rose-gold tabby, licking the top of his small head. “How about Daffodilkit for this little one?” She asked, looking up at her mate curiously.

Releasing a small chuckle, Orion pressed his nose against her small paws before leaving gentle kisses on them “The rare occasion in which I’m right, that there’s something in the water.” The massive black tom teased, his dark green eyes glinting in amusement. His eyebrow arched when noticing his children releasing small squeals. It was a good sign that the kits were squeaking and at least attempting to feed from Goldenrose, their kits and Goldenrose would recover from this. Orion’s beautiful rose was the strongest feline that he knew besides his mother when she was alive. A frown appeared on his face upon the news. What were his kits going to face as they got older?
He had to stay positive for Goldnerose.
“The girls already seem so much, They’ll probably need some kind of therapy later on.” Orion teased, but it was with reason.. That he wanted his girls to grow up with what true love looks like, how their partners should treat them. Same goes for his sons. Looking towards the black and rose-gold molted tom, Barlowkit… It suited him “That’s perfect.” Orion said softly, before his gaze turned towards the smallest of the litter, a rose-gold and white tabby “What about Tulipkit for this one?” He questioned. If their first litter were named after him, why couldn’t their second litter be named after her?

She appreciated the help her mate was giving her, heart fluttering as she gently lapped her tongue over Cometchaser’s head. “Thank you.” Goldenrose hummed softly, eyeing her kittens for a moment longer before she sighed, looking towards her mate when he brought up the fact that if she did not eat, then neither did their kits. As much as it stung to hear, he was right. Scrunching up her nose as she leaned down to sniff the strips of meat, her stomach wasn’t in the mood for food but for her kittens, she brought the meat into her mouth and chewed. “I hate when you make sense.” She teased softly around her mouthful. Shifting slightly, her kittens complained as their mother got more comfortable. “This little black tom and the rosy tabby have been wheezing.” She informed her mate.
Clicking her tongue slightly, green eyes flashing towards the entrance of camp as if she were expecting Littlewoods to return. Looking back at her mate when he pressed a gentle kiss to her paws. He was so sweet. Giggling softly, she looked down at the little pale rose-gold tabby, her ears twitching. “They’ll get used to it.” Goldenrose smiled before she looked down at their four kittens, gaze thoughtful before she used her nose to gesture towards their dark black and rose gold mottled tom. “I’ve been thinking about Barlowkit for him.”

Looking down at the four toms that were resting at his mate’s side, his dark green gaze softened at the sight of them. Just like their daughters and Goldenrose, these kits were part of his entire world. Noticing that the rose-gold molly was trying to move them closer to her in order to latch properly, Orion sat up and began helping the other ones gently towards her direction. It worried Orion, their mouths were too small to fully feed on her, and he knew that Goldenrose wasn’t developing much milk.. But she most likely was going to be stubborn and attempt to nurse them anyways, they were her babies.
“You’re going to need to eat, otherwise you’re not going to produce enough milk.. It won’t be good news for yourself or the kits.” Orion said, turning to look towards her with a gentle look. It wasn’t the time for lecturing, his mate needed to be healthy for herself and the kits. Shaking his head, he pushed the rabbit aside “I won’t eat until you’re ready to, I can wait.” Orion said, clearly stubborn in his actions. Looking towards the black and rose-gold tom, his expression had fallen slightly. It wasn’t rocket science that their lungs weren’t well-developed. It was going to be a challenge for each kit growing up.
“I’ll notify Littlewoods when he comes back.”
It was the only thing he could do, but Stars.. He felt so helpless.
A small smile appeared on his face when looking towards her, loving to press a gentle kiss on her front paws. The oldest, the pale rose-gold tabby squeaked which caused Orion to chuckle “He’s already embarrassed by his parents’ actions.” He teased before looking at all four of them before his mate “I suppose, we should start naming them right?”

It was written all over his face as he looked down at her, he was anxious about this early birth as well. Ears flat against the top of her head as he laid down in front of her nest, letting out a soft sigh. Closing her eyes when his feathery tail laid over her flank, attempting to keep her warm. “Truth or lie?” She teased softly, looking down at their little kittens as they struggled to move towards her stomach with their squeaking. Ignoring the pain in her stomach, she was gently nosing her kittens to her stomach, tail tip twitching anxiously as they struggled to latch. Heart clenching with worry before she forced herself to gaze at her mate as he began to tear into the hare.
“My stomach is so incredibly sore, I tried to get up earlier to make dirt and Littlewoods had to help me walk.” Her cheeks went warm with embarrassment, looking back down when she felt little mouths on her, trying their hardest to get as much milk as they could. Food and warmth would help them grow, unfortunately with a premature birth, she wasn’t heavy with milk like she should’ve been at their birth. “Our kits, however, are doing fairly well.. they squeak a lot but I’m so worried about them being able to eat. Their mouths are so small.” She fretted, licking the head of a small black and rose gold male. "This little rosy tom has been wheezing so I am going to have Littlewoods take a look at him."
“I am too stressed to eat, Cometchaser.” She said softly, knowing he was tearing the meat up for her. “You just go ahead and eat for me.” She nodded, looking towards her mate.

Anxiety, that’s what Orion had felt. Standing at the entrance of the medicine cat den, he was overthinking everything. Was Goldenrose okay? Their kits? Cometchaser had never felt this emotion properly since the loss of his mother, and he was scared that something would happen to his mate and their kits. Blinking, the massive Maine Coon had to push his thoughts away before taking a deep breath and entering the den. The brown hare that was in his jaws was secured tightly around his grip, refusing to let go. Upon the sight of his mate and their premature kits, his heart broke. Orion knew that Goldenrose was going through a lot of pain, and still she was smiling through it for his sake. Shallowing hard, he made his way towards her with a small smile on his face.
He didn’t deserve her.
“My rose.” Orion said softly, standing in front of her before lowering himself until the rabbit was placed in front of her. He knew his mate’s main concern was the kits, but he was going to be the one to look after her. His feathery tail moved until it rested on Goldenrose, covering her from the cold but giving the kits enough air to breathe. “How are you? The kits?” He questioned, refraining to move and kiss her on the forehead. Orion just wanted to take away her pain and put it on himself instead, moving to start ripping apart the rabbit and giving her the small chunks of meat so she didn’t have to strain herself.
