🕊️ Opalpaw 🕊️
It hadn't been long since the passing of Copperheart and figuring out just who exactly had murdered the poor fellow. The molly had just only been made an apprentice when this had occurred and accompanying her mentor to look at the body for any signs that would be of any importance to finding who had done it. It wasn't long until a little someone came in questioning her what she had saw and any information that could help them in their search. At first the molly was confused as to why they were wanting that information but the more that she talked with them the more she admired them.
Something about the feline drew her in, perhaps it was his personality that really intrigued her and made her want to get to know him more. Perhaps it was the thrill of the adventure she wasn't entirely sure. Though it was certainly something that helped her take her mind of things. As time grew on the medicine cat apprentice had a constant nagging feeling that she perhaps was meant to be somewhere outside of the clan. Maybe it was the constant nightmares she was getting the moment her head hit her nest or the vision she had saw the very first time she had been to the mooncave. Whatever it was she wasn't completely certain, and she'd do just about anything to get her mind off it even if it was temporary.
Seeing the brown spotted feline come into view she instantly perked up a warm smile crossing her face as she instantly got up from where she sat "Well good evening Ospreypaw! How are you love?" She chirped softly her ears flickering slightly before she sheepishly looked off to the side, "Did you want to go out again and do some investigating? I'm sure there's gotta be something out there that we're missing" She softly said.
Padding closer to him she gently nudged him gently as a way to indicate that she was very much interested in going out and looking even if it were for a short time. "I think we got at least a few hours before the sun goes down plus, I feel like we won't have any interruptions this time since I'm assuming your tasks are done for the day?" She asked softly cocking a brow in his direction.

The molly listened to the tom doubt her abilities to 'not' care on which she came from the feline let out a faint purr as she dipped her head a little. "I make who I am, I don't need someone elses legacy, their story decipher what I wish to do with my own. Because I don't know where I came from I can freely choose what I want my story to be down the road. And If I were to ever have kittens I'd want them to be proud of who they are and not the stories and all of that silliness before them." She softly said.
Letting out a soft sigh she gave a small shrug, "I never said it'd be enough or easy for anyone. Life changes things happen, but why let the judgement of others weigh you down? What good does it do you? Will getting everything to be done so easily help you in any way to be a better warrior in the future?" She quizzed her brow arched as she studied the toms face. It made her a little sad to see the feline be so torn or have so much self doubt. "Remember love you aren't your father or anyone you're related too. Last I checked there is only on Ospreypaw I know." She softly said before whisking around and continuing the walk before her.
Opalsky had meant every little thing she had uttered towards the tom, she was honestly really grateful for the fact that the tom had came up to her so many moons ago asking questions about the murders that had happened. Any moment she had spent with him were probably one of the most calmest moments she had in a long while and she was certainly grateful for it. She just hoped the other saw it the way she saw it.
Ospreypaw watched Opalaw with a mixture of incredulity and weariness.
“How you can’t care about where you came from amazes me.” He breathed, his tone awed but neutral in its judgment. “What makes you who you are?” His two-toned eyes peered ardently into hers, as though the answers he searched for resided there.
Then he laughed, a caustic short sound.
“Apologies, but if it were that easy I doubt my father would’ve been driven to murder. Trying one’s best…..sometimes it still isn't enough.” He shook his head from side to side. “I appreciate your sentiment, but you’ll find inevitably….it just isn’t true."

The small molly tailed after the apprentice her ears flickering each time the tom had spoken taking anything and everything he said with care. Her blue green hues flickering ahead and to the other as they finally made their way outside of the camp. She had helped the best she could when it came to minor details about the case as she had been there when the body was examine and the search for clues afterwards. Between that and the fact that she after all wasn't meant to be the clans medicine cat was left pretty confused and just the constant nightmares about some storms and cats from beyond it left her constantly in a daze and sometimes very delusional.
Opalsky paused for a moment before she stepped in front of the tom and nudged him gently. "I'm afraid it is like that for half clanners... I'm personally not from this clan admittedly I have not a lick of clue who my parents are or where I originally from but thats okay!" She softly said before she wrapped her tail around her paws. " I can only but phantom how you may be feeling about everything and i'm so sorry you even have to deal with it.." She softly said her gaze shifting to the side a little.
The molly certainly would be sad if the other chose to leave but she'd understand and respect the choice he could make. "Well love the choice is all yours, follow what your heart once and if you need to think it through for the next several moons then so be it. Do what you think is best for yourself! Just as long as you can find peace within yourself and are happy that is all that matters! Try and not be so harsh with yourself alright? You're doing your best and thats all that matters!" She softly said before offering the feline a warm and genuine smile.
"I respect whatever you do decide! and if you do decide to leave just try and remember that no matter where you go you got a home with me and i got your back no matter what!" She concluded. Everything that had came out of her mouth was nothing but the truth and she'd say it over and over if she had too.
Ospreypaw smiled down at Opalpaw.
“A walk. Sure.” His smile was tight, though genuine. Twin gaze betraying the cavernous sense of world-weariness he was now in possession of, situated at the precipice of adulthood but already saddled with years of its weight.
They made their way out of the camp, across russet stones that had still retained a degree of the day's warmth. The sun had long gone, leaving a deep purple impression in its wake overhead. A few enterprising stars had already emerged. Ospreypaw shivered convulsively again, in place of knowing what to say. His thoughts and feelings were a tangle whse end and beginning were indistinguishable from the mass of pain and confusion he’d experienced in the last 48 hours.
“Sorry.” He muttered, realizing now that he had completely ignored her earlier questions. “I just….it’s a lot, you know?”
“I spent all my time looking for answers- never thought about what I’d do once I had them.” In truth, he’d never actually expected to find them at all. There’d been few cases as cold as that of Cpperheart’s murder. It was precisely this appearance of flawless forethought that had led him to conclude it was an act of premeditated passion. Not an accident, not self-defense. His defense. Unborn, residing in the womb of a cat whose only crime had been to love his father. It was all too much to process at one time. Ospreypaw felt sluggish and foggy-headed in the aftermath.
“I mean, shall I stay here? I’ve blood in this Clan. But blood I left behind in ThunderClan as well. Hell, does blood even matter? Look at what my own tried to do here.” He cast about in anger. “It feels like I’m being pulled in two directions….perhaps it’s always like this for half-Clanners.”

Hearing the tom's dismissal for one of their usual investigations caused the molly to sadden a little. She had no means to really make a huge deal of it though understanding the need to take it easy sometime. Letting out a soft hum as she thought of what they could do she let her ears flutter, "Are you feeling alright though...? You seem a little sniffly and it seems as if you got something on your mind!" She softly said before getting a bit more comfortable draping her tail over her paws.
"I would absolutely love your company! If that's okay with you... I'm just not entirely ready to sleep for the night." She added before letting out a soft purr a warm smile just growing wider. She had heard about the tom's linage from passing conversation. It had never really bothered her seeing as she herself wasn't originally from the clan either having been left by the borders in the pass.
"Perhaps we could just go on a walk through the territory? Would that be a little better?" She asked softly trying to find something to do for a bit. She just had this urge to do something other than staying in camp.
Ospreypaw sat at the edge of camp, the cold breeze carding his fur like icy fingers. It wasn’t exactly comfortable, his pelt was not as thick as cats whose lineage could be traced back to the founders of the Clans. His own bloodline was just a few hops of a skipping stone before it veered off into the outlands. It was nights like this that he wished for the advantages of what they called “pure” blood. Luckily it seldom dropped much lower.
He sneezed, nose running and found Opalpaw before him. Swiftly wiping his muzzle on the back of his wrist, he smiled wearily at her. He was happy to see his investigation partner, of course, but his mind felt crowded by everything that had happened in his life recently. His father, his mother, his place in the Clans. Opalpaw’s face quelled his churning thoughts.
“Hey there.” His voice rasped from disuse.
“Dunno if I’m one for any more mysteries tonight. But if you simply desire my company, we need no pretense.” He purred.
