Eagletalon had only been a warrior for a short while, so it remained fresh in his mind how proud he had felt when his father, Hawkstar, announced his name to the clan. Despite the circumstances of his father's possession, he had remained Hawkstar's most loyal supporter. All the very young warrior wanted to do was make his father proud. But with the gap between himself and his clanmates only being pushed further apart, Eagletalon was lonely. As a new warrior he was still coming into his own, he felt out of place among the senior warriors, he felt disconnected from his mother and his siblings, and yet... he felt too awkward among the apprentices. Felt like he was too old to still be acting like one.
Standing on his hindlegs, Eagletalon dug his claws into the bark of one of the towering oaks, clawing at the surface and shaking his head as flakes of bark fell toward him.
Ever since the battle, he'd been even more isolated, simply providing for his clan and keeping himself as far away from trouble as possible.
Polarpaw |The Eccentric of Thunderclan|
Polar’s beautiful crystal blue and indigo purple eyes follow Eagletalon’s every move. The observant molly could sense the anxiety and silent turmoil radiating from the brown rosette tom. “Hmm” she hums out, not minding his passive aggressive tone and behavior. She could tell that he had a lot on his mind, and did not know how to express himself around others. Her silvery cinnamon colored ears perk up as he huffs at her, demanding if she was here to laugh or poke fun of his inner distress. Tilting her cranium in curiosity, usually she was the one being made fun of because of her peculiar personality and for her chunky curvy figure.
“Why would I laugh? You haven’t said anything funny” Polar furrows her brows as she gives him a clueless look, not realizing he did not mean it literally. “Oh” she gasps softly as she rushes slightly after Eagletalon. She could tell he secretly wanted company, she was perfect for the job! Her long flowing tail wisps side to side as she hums with a hop in her step as she follows behind Eagle.
A dreamy grin pulls at her lips as he concedes to her company, not like she was giving him much of a choice. “Oh! I am out here for no reason! The scenery is quite nice and calming…don’t you think?” Polar asks as her different toned eyes flicker around the forest. The ground crunching beneath her weight with each step due to the brittle cold air sweeping past their forms. “The smell in the air indicates a cold winter! Exciting! Snow is such a beautiful thing to witness! Too bad it is cold” Polarpaw sighs as she finally pads long side the young warrior. “Nice to have company for once.”
EAGLETALON
Eagletalon, absorbed in himself, barely notices the presence of the chunky apprentice until she speaks. The rosetted tom flicks his ears, unhooking his claws from the tree bark and dropping down onto all fours again. Bringing his claws to his face, the tom picks some of the bark chunks from underneath the sharp hooked talons that earned him his warrior name. His tail twitches, and he fights the internal conflict her question causes. She was... right, in a way. He had been deep in thought. He felt other cats looked at him differently for his lineage. He felt like he was supposed to live up to expectations, and yet he felt that he wouldn't ever be a cat his father would proudly show off without reason to do so. Eagletalon snorted, glancing over his shoulder and pinning his ears to his head.
"...One way to say it." He mutters, tail-tip flicking back and forth with his irritation directed inwards. "You come to laugh at me or something?" Eagletalon stands up, turning to head further into the forest. Perhaps this was part of why he was isolated- he either pushed cats away or barely talked to them in the first place. He tried too hard, but he was always so... overwhelmed with the self-imposed feeling of responsibility. Ever since his parents split up, it had been even harder for him to feel... needed among the clan.
Sometimes, he wondered if he fled to another clan, if he'd even be missed.
"...Probably not, but..." He looked away, but gestured with his tail for her to follow. "...Guess you are out here for a reason."
Polarpaw |The Eccentric of Thunderclan|
Polarpaw lets out a wispy sigh as the silvery cinnamon colored molly lightly touches the rough bark of the oak trees as she passes. Her lovely crystal blue and indigo purple doe-eyes take in the lovely hues of oranges, reds, and golden yellows of the leaves either flitting through to the ground or still dancing upon the branches. She certainly loved Leaf-Fall, just the scents and colors of the season seemed to put her even more in a better mood. Today she had decided to go off and explore on her own, not wanting to bother her sisters, her father, or even Miss Vanilla on her problems or her silly insecurities.
A little frown forms on her lips, her steps pausing as she glances down at her full figure. Briefly remembering the comments about her small chunky figure or the nickname ‘Loony Chipmunk’. It was easy enough for Polar to brush off but there were times their voices lingered longer than normal in her mind. The eccentric molly prided herself in being different, no one had fun being normal after all. Humming a random tune under her breath as she continues on, stopping to admire the scenery or a few critters every once in a while.
Paper-thin ears perk up as she hears claws racking against bark not too far from her. Polarpaw tilts her head in curiosity as she makes her way towards the noise, no hesitation in her steps as she could sense it was a fellow clanmate. Her perceptive gaze lands instantly on Eagletalon, studying his isolated and mysterious self. A warm dreamy smile forms on her lips once he notices her. “I’ve interrupted a deep thought haven’t I? I can see it growing smaller in your eyes” Polar’s soft and inviting voice breaks the silence. Not even caring that she was talking to Hawkstar’s son. He was just another feline after all.
