Starlingfall
Thunderclan Warrior
Starlingfall had been watching Snarlingbadger for a while, the massive tuxedo tom was taking shelter beneath a tree from the gentle snowfall that arrived. Her feathery tail was flicking back and forth for a moment, debating her actions. Ever since hearing about his separation from his former mate, he had been incredibly lonely. His kits were there for him, especially Opalshine. But Starlingfall could sense that he was acting okay for the sake of his children, that he was actually suffering inside. Biting the inside of her cheek, the small molly stood up from her spot at the entrance of warriors’ den before making her way towards him with determination on her face.
No one should ever feel alone
The small blue and white molly laid down beside him, keeping her distance from him but enough that their sides would brush together. Watching the massive male for a moment, a soft smile appeared on her face before bowing her head slightly in greetings “Hi.. My name is Starlingfall, I wanted to check in and see how you were doing.” The molly said, watching his almost unreadable facial expression. She was debating her actions, would he accept such an invitation?
“I was wondering if you would escort me into the woods so we can find some Frosted Lilies? I’ve been wanting to search for them lately, but I’ve been wanting a proper escort.” Starlingfall said, rolling on her back and gazing up at him. The molly was gentle and soft spoken compared to her sister, but she wasn’t a shy soul. It would be a perfect opportunity to get to know the tom better as well, he was so mysterious to her that Starlingfall couldn’t help but become curious of Snarlingbadger and his ways.

Although it was cute how she could stop and admire the scenery, attempting to make light of the situation as she stuck her tongue out to catch a flake. He couldn’t find it within himself to even crack a smile. The snow was cold and icy and although beautiful, it would leave just a quick as it came. Jaw tightening slightly as he kept walking by her, she could enjoy the snow if she wanted, he was going to keep a look out like she had wanted. Pale yellow eyes roaming through the forest, although it wasn’t dark out, there was an eerie silence to the forest that came with snow fall. Nostrils flaring when she apologized for her behavior, shrugging his shoulder and lowering his head to step under a low hanging branch on a bush.
White flowers with blue tips, he supposed that would sound like a frosted lily. Humming softly as he looked around through the slow falling snow, his toes crunching the frozen leaves below him. Grunting in response, he didn’t see any magical glowing flowers at the current moment but he also guessed that he wasn’t looking very hard. His mind else where. Ears flattening against his head when she bumped her hip against his, looking down at her before he gave a brief smile. He had thought she had seen something wrong but she was only trying to be playful.
Tea with honey. That sounded lovely when his throat was burning so rawly, clearing it again, the Tom gave a mother nod before he watched her sniff the air. Starlingfall’s eyes lit up with recognition, his tail tip twitching slightly as he lifted his own nose to search for the scent she described. Nodding his head and beginning to pad off into the specific direction. Pausing only when she pressed her paw into a patch of blank snow, leaving her mark behind. Blinking in surprise as she looked up at him with a giggle, eyes roaming her face before looking back down at the lonely print. Shaking out his pelt, the Tom ignored it, continuing to walk the path with his short fur sticking up.
A laugh escaped Starlingfall as she looked behind her to see that it appeared Snarlingbadger was observing her, suddenly she was slightly embarrassed and closed her mouth to stop tasting the snow. Starclan, why couldn’t she behave for five minutes? A blush escaped her before coughing softly and padding along with the larger tom. ”I’m sorry, I really enjoy the snowy weather.”Starlingfall mewed and felt her eyes growing hot. However, she groaned slightly when realizing that she didn’t even give him the description of the frosted lilies, they could had passed by without either one of them noticing!
”The frosted lilies are beautifully white, like snow! The tips of the petals are a beautiful light blue.” Starlingfall began before a soft smile escaped her at the thought of those lovey flowers. The blue and white molly loved those florals so much, she gave them to her sister whenever she had the chance to. ”They come out in the snow, giving such a magical glow.” She described them, chuckling when he flicked her ear with his muzzle which caused her to bump her hip against his own playfully.
”Tea with a drizzle of honey, for you.”Starlingfall meowed, looking at him with a bright smile. She felt generally comfortable with the massive tom, including feeling very safe in his presence. A true knight for her. It wasn’t until she looked up and began sniffing the air, biting the inside of her cheek. There was a faint of the lilies around ”Do you smell that very sweet scent, it smells like cinnamon and wreaths.. a very Wintery smell.” She described, looking around for a moment before heading into the woods. There was a blank space of show that cause her to giggle as she pressed her paw into it, leaving a print. Looking back at him, she grinned ”Your turn.”

Snarlingbadger grunted, the small amount of speaking had made his throat raw but he was used to it. Tail tip twitching as he looked around the camp, most were staying within their dens other than the patrols, both border and hunting. But he was the one idiot that was about to walk out there with this clanmate in search of frosted lilies. Pupils narrowing slightly as he glanced towards the guards at the entrance, leaning in to lick the top of Badgerbite’s head, his son humming and glancing at his father. ”Don’t stay out too late, pops. The smell of snow is still coming.” He warned while Snarlingbadger nodded, waving his tail as he walked after Starlingfall.
Ears perked up as Starlingfall questioned him on the flowers, deciding to shake his head in a ‘no’. While he had heard of these flowers, this Tom had never laid eyes on the flowers. Nostrils flaring as he breathed in the cold air, letting his pale yellow eyes flash towards the ground, his black and white short fur fluffed to its max capacity to be warm. ”Good tom.” He nodded, vaguely remembering her father, perhaps she wanted to find these flowers for her nest and remind herself of her late father.
A cup of herbs? Brow arching as he looked towards the female and chuckled softly. So now he was being bribed. ”Tea good.” Snarlingbadger huffed, nose lifting as he sniffed for the flowers, eyes narrowing for a moment. What did these flowers even smell like? Head tilting as he opened his mouth to ask a question but she was lightly nudging his shoulder, both eyebrows up as he looked down at Starlingfall. Nodding his head and dipping his head to flick her ear with his muzzle. He didn’t mind helping her, but he breathed in slowly and looked around questioningly before looking down at Starlingfall. What did these flowers even look like?
Starlingfall nodded in understanding, she was going to respect his boundaries with whatever the tuxedo male wanted to do. Sitting up, she smoothed the fur on her blue and white chest before nodding in agreement ”Yes, I don’t want to be stuck out in the snow.. We’ll be home before the snow gets worse.”The small molly gently said to him. Remembering that he didn’t speak as much and mainly grunted, she found that rough tone of his dreamy. Getting up from her spot and making her way out of the den, she gave a small nod of greetings to the guards at the entrance. Looking back, her dark blue eyes shined as the massive tom was following after her. Starlingfall wanted to make it a memorable time for him, to help him heal from such a difficult time in his life. It wasn’t until the both of them were walking through the forest that it was peaceful and quiet for both of them. Slowing her pace so he could catch up, her eyes were lit up when looking around.
”Have you ever seen frosted lilies before?” Starlingfall questioned, looking at the ground. The snow was barely touching the ground yet so it would be easy to spot the white lilies that had blue on the tips. It had such a glow that it was almost magical. A hopeful look was on her face when smiling softly while looking at the ground for a moment ”My father would always give them to my sister and I until he passed away, a reason to make us smile.” Starlingfall explained, as the flowers would hold a special place to her heart. It would appear that Starlingfall wanted the flowers to decorate her nest, but there was an actual motive that Snarlingbadger didn’t know yet. Watching him carefully, she was making sure that the tom didn’t suddenly turn around and walk back to camp.
”Keep an eye out! If you manage to find this first, I’ll make sure that you’re treated with a cup of herbs later!” Starlingfall said, she made a good cup of herbs. Using the perfect amount of leaves with water from a fresh stream. Starlingfall was extremely caring and loving, wanting to ensure that everyone was taken care of, she was always so gentle and patient towards everyone.Moving towards him and giving him a light nudge on his shoulder, ”Thank you for coming with me, it does mean a lot” The molly said, grateful that she indeed had a knight looking out for her. Although Starlingfall didn’t enjoy fighting, she did know how to defend herself.. But she enjoyed being protected by someone else too. Looking up, she smiled softly at the sight of the snow and opened her mouth to taste some. A pure moment.

Out of whack. That’s how he currently felt as he leaned his shoulder against the side of the den, pale yellow eyes watching the snow fall to the ground. Kits were running around and jumping in excitement at the fresh snow while mothers were rushing them into the warm dens to clean their fur. Nostrils flared as he breathed out a slow sigh, his expression unreadable but his eyes were far off. Kits made him think of his children, and that made him think of Peachblossom. She hadn’t even been gone a week and he was a wreck, rubbing his tongue against the roof of his mouth to calm himself. He had already cried and begged enough for her to stay. StarClan had another plan for her and it was not with him. Maybe that was the hardest part he was trying to digest. It wasn’t with him. Eyes closed as he let out a soft sigh, the hot air mixed with cold and misted in front of him. She was all he knew and yet he couldn’t find it within him to leave their family behind like she did.
Throat tight, he found himself desiring to curl up in his nest and sleep the day away when he felt the slightest brush against his side. Without moving his head, his eyes shifted to look at the coloring of Starlingfall’s pelt, pupils narrowing slightly. Pity. That’s what this was. Never before had they really talked but now that he was moping around, clanmates kept an eye on him. Annoying is what it was, clicking his tongue as he finally turned his head towards her, the cold made his throat burn but he grunted in greeting. Lips parting as a gruff voice graveled. ”Snarlingbadger.” He huffed, giving a small nod of his head and twitching his ears. He was fine. He would be fine. Giving a brief smile before he looked away to keep watching the snow.
Frosted lilies? He frowned and looked towards where the female had been, eyes adjusting further down as she laid on her back, her eyes curious and hopeful. Rats. All he wanted to do was sleep but instead of crushing the hope in her gaze, he nodded slowly and looked back up at the sky, perhaps it wouldn’t snow too hard. ”Until white out.” He meowed, refusing to hunt for these flowers in white out conditions, nodding as he stood, shaking out his black and white pelt, the scars on his chest, neck and muzzle visible as he stepped out of the den and into the falling snow. Looking back at Starlingfall. May as well get this over and done with.
