Soft hums were emitting from the tomcats throat, after finishing his patrol duties, he was ready to relax with Shootingtail and talk about their days. Long black tail swaying behind him as the tall tomcat waltzed through the oak forest, his paws pushing away whatever snow that hadn’t melted out of his way. He was in a good mood, today had gone by without a hitch. His leg wasn’t twinging in residue pain, no one had argued during the patrol, nor did he have to look at any bothersome ShadowClanners. Only thing that could’ve made today even better was meeting Shootingtail by the training Hollow. Brown ears perked up as he could hear grunting and scuffling, which indicated that he was getting closer and closer to the desired area.
Using his head to brush away a snowy branch, the twigs digging into his black pelt but he didn’t mind as he looked down into the hollow. Eyes immediately picked Shootingtail out amongst the others, smiling to himself as he watched his best friend pin Silverwolf. He watched curiously, quietly slipping down the bank as he silently rooted for Shootingtail. However, his heart suddenly froze and his chest constricted as Silverwolf lifted a paw to lightly stroke a spray of snow away from Shootingtail’s face. That had seemed... oddly intimate. Anger and confusion immediately began to bubble within his throat, but it wasn’t until Silverwolf flipped their position, pinning Shootingtail down without leaving any space between their bodies, his grin seemingly seductive.
Spidermask wasn’t sure when it happened, but something broke within him, his eyes seeing red. Within moments the tall black and brown pointed tomcat was hovering over Silverwolf. Growling he reached down and dug his teeth into the scruff of the other male, his anger gave adrenaline as he practically picked up the larger male and slammed him down into the dirt off to Shootingtails left side. “Gah! S-Spidermask! What gives?” Silverwolf coughed, the air getting knocked out of him as Spidermask growled, standing to block Shootingtail from Silverwolf gaze, stalking forward just a hair to press his forepaw against Silverwolf’s neck, not choking him, but he was getting close. “Keep your paws to yourself, he’s spoken for.” Spidermask snarled, snapping his jaws angrily in front of the other males face.
Many knew that Shootingtail was a gay male, but not many knew that Spidermask was very, very fond of his best friend. Pelt fluffed and his tail lashing, he pushed himself off of Silverwolf, the grey ticked tabby coughing from the pressure applied to neck from Spidermask moving away. “Now get out of here before I change my mind.” Spidermask growled, feeling territorial over his best friend, yellow and orange flaked eyes watching Silverwolf get up and shake out his pelt. “Alright.. you need to tell your guard dog to take it down a notch, yeah?” Silverwolf frowned as he looked towards Shootingtail, which only made Spidermask charge forward to scare the other tom. Which worked since the grey tabby turned on his heel and ran a few paces forward, his blue eyes wide from the aggression before he cautiously slunk back up the bank of the hollow.
Snorting in violence, Spidermask growled lightly after Silverwolf. Breathing heavily, he turned his chin back towards Shootingtail, his gaze calming slightly. “He didn’t hurt you did he?” He questioned, figuring the other male hadn’t done anything to hurt Shootingtail
Instead he shook his head and let out a huff. “Shootingtail.. you need to be careful when toms get that close. You can’t be so scatter brained all the time.” Spidermask grumbled sourly, sitting down on his haunches.
Shootingtail
Thunderclan Warrior
His bi-colored eyes widened at Spidermask’s words, mouth parted in shock at what the brown and black tom’s words. Where was this all coming from?! “Are you being serious?!” The orange and brown tom questioned, looking at the larger tom as if grew another head. Shaking his head, Shootingtail looked at him with such a disappointed look in his eyes and tried to speak calmly “Spidey, we were sparring as friends! I would have pushed him away if he tried anything!” Shootingtail whispered, his voice breaking slightly instead. Why was he speaking as if they were together? Spidermask never made a move to become mates, and Shootingtail had been waiting for him to do it! It wasn’t until his facial expression changed from hurt, to anger at Spidermask’s words. Could his best friend see how much his words were hurting him? “I can’t believe you.” Shootingtail said, his tail lashing as tears of anger and frustration were streaming down his face when looking at the other tom. Going towards the larger tom, Shootingtail used his shoulder to push Spidermask but not hard enough to knock him off balance. Letting out a small huff, the younger tom shook his head in disappointment and backed away slightly
“So that’s what you think of me? That I’ll go lay with every single cat within the territory?!” Shootingtail couldn’t help but shout, he knew that a couple of cats were nearby training their apprentices but he didn’t care.. This wasn’t their usual dynamic, it was always Spider and Shooting.. Partners in Crime forever. “No, you get to do that!” Shootingtail said, hearing his best friend was basically putting the blame on him for Spidermask beating up Silverwolf. The orange and black tom knew that his best friend was quite the possessive type, wanting to keep Shooingtail to himself whenever it came to friends while they were growing up. The behavior was normal to Shootingtail, as he knew it was Spidermask’s way of loving and protecting him. If anything, Shootingtail enabled the behavior by cuddling up to him and never stopping the older tom whenever Spidermask was ready to chase off anyone. “You’re the one who kissed me in the medicine cat den, making me feel like I was the only tom in the world.. Making me feel like I was special and it was honestly the best night ever.” Shootingtail said, his tail dropping in defeat as he couldn’t help but go back to that night.
“The moment that I became a warrior, you did nothing, Spidermask.” He said, shaking his head and feeling tears streaming down his eyes.. Shootingtail remembered how he felt, the amount of hurt that perhaps Spidermask didn’t want anything to do with him after their first kiss “I always thought ‘Maybe he was just experimenting and Spidey knew that he was straight.’ That one day that you’ll approach me with some female, telling me that you finally found a mate.. And I would be forced to sit there and watch as my best friend was in love with someone else.” Shootingtail finished, feeling like he couldn’t breathe with how fast his heart was pounding. It was silent for a moment, he noticed the blank expression on Spidermask’s face and it caused him to scoff and shook his head. “You finally don’t have anything to say?” He questioned, sitting in front of the other male with an arched eyebrow.
