Desertstar sat up slowly and touched the wadded up cobwebs along her neck, wincing a bit. It’d been a few days since Sandadder’s group had attacked her camp, and she finally felt well enough to move around. Pushing the furs away from her body, and careful not to alert the medicine cat, she stepped out of her nest. It was dark, but she could hear gentle puffs of breath and the occasional snore drifting from the occupied nests. Most of the injured were still asleep, and judging by the thin line of gold on the horizon, dawn was only a few hours away. As quietly as she could, she stepped outside of the abandoned cabin and went straight to her hillside, not wanting to disturb anyone— or speak to anyone for that matter. Not until she could think of how to safely get her children back.

Greenleaf is in full flush. Temperatures reach nearly unbearable hights. Long-furred cats should stray from the sun.

Lighthollow
Windclan Warrior
Despite the way his brother's voice made him jolt with surprise, Lighthollow spun to face him with a cockiness that the young warrior had displayed since he was a kit. His brother... of course it would be him. He was Windclan's deputy, after all, he should have expected this. Especially after Desertstar's kits had been taken.
His tail lashed as he stared into Hailgaze's eyes, baring his teeth in a snarl. He had to keep up his traitorous appearance, for his own sake, if nothing else.
"I will go when I have got what I want." He spat, "You won't tell me when I leave."
As Desertstar spoke, his eyes flashed to her, and he forced his hackles to lie flat. Nodding his head, he turned his back to the two cats.
"...Good. You won't regret your choice." The smirk he flashed over his shoulder was laced with mocking, the white-pelted tom disappearing quickly into the long grasses of the moor. Once he was certain he was out of their sight, he started running, his heart thrumming in his chest.
He just hoped he could believe his own words.
Desertstar didn’t move when Lighthollow stepped closer to snarl in her face. She merely stood there, listening as he went on, and only distantly aware of Hailgaze as he joined her at her side, his tone nothing short of threatening. By now, the sun was rising behind her, and the snow covered moorland began to glitter in the morning light. Although fleeting, there was a look of remorse in Lighthollow’s gaze, and for a brief moment she wondered if he was second-guessing his role in Sandadder’s plan. Perhaps he was actually on their side, and only pretending to be on Sandadder’s side in order to thwart his plans from within. Either way, she didn’t dwell on the possibility for very long. It didn’t change what was to come. Sandadder had her right where he wanted her, and she had no choice but to comply. Eventually, she nodded. “Tell Sandadder that I will be there,” she told him, her tone laces with a bitter rage when she added, “and that I will be alone.”

Stress levels were off the charts, with his clan being separated in two and Desertstar already losing a life because of his naivety. Hailgaze was too nervous to get any sleep, scorching amber eyes roaming towards the leader’s den with narrowed eyes. Desertstar was too damn stubborn to listen to Littlewood’s, chin turning as he gazed upon a particular hill. She always disappeared to think. Lips parted to let out a soft but defeated sigh, large paws beginning to take him towards the exit of camp, his voice stern but quiet as he spoke to the warriors on night watch. “No one is allowed in or out, I want to be informed the next time that Desertstar leaves camp. Understood?” He looked towards the two warriors, satisfied with their answers, the deputy gave a single nod of his head before he padded out into the dark. Crickets softly chirped their songs while small yellow and white lights lit up the dark. Fireflies.
Desertstar’s form was highlighted by both the dim glow of the moon and the occasional light from a firefly. Quietly walking up the hill, his ears perked when he suddenly heard a voice that was all too familiar, Lighthollow. His young brother having chosen Sandadder’s argument, made his heart lurch to his stomach but he kept his wits. Pausing in his walk so he wouldn’t disturb the conversation, instead his chin was turning slowly to the right and the left to make sure that the traitor was alone. Gray nostrils flaring as he breathed in the scents around him, pupils narrowing before he slowly and quietly continued his walk up the hill. Scent of his leader’s missing kits reached his nostrils along with the stank of blood, making his brows furrowed as he got close enough to hear the conversation.
Ears laying flat against his skull, Lighthollow was threatening the lives of her children. No, Sandadder was threatening the lives of her children. Jaw tightening with the message before he continued to walk up the hill, his eyes flashing as Lighthollow pushed his face into Desertstar’s his feathery tail lashing as his deep voice finally broke the silence. “Your warning has been received.” Hailgaze said, the tall and muscular warrior walking towards them both as he growled, forcing his brother to step back as he stood infant of Desertstar, eyes narrowing as his gaze searched Lighthollow’s. “Return back to Sandadder.” He suggested, voice firm.
Lighthollow
Windclan Warrior Whilst Littlewoods slept soundly, beside the wounded cats he was working to keep alive, a blizzard-white warrior crept between the grass of the rolling hills. His ears remained pinned against his head, and his pawsteps light. After all, he had no idea what he would face, coming out here to deliver his message. The tom's whiskers twitched as he breathed in the familiar scents of his home. A pang of homesickness clutched at his heart, masking the sickening feeling in his stomach that came from the blood currently staining his tongue. For he had been told to carry clumps of fur from Desertstar's kits, as bribery material.
Despite the fact he had sworn his allegiance to Sandadder, and had betrayed the trust of his brother, Hailgaze, Lighthollow had a strong sense of justice. He was convinced that this would be the best way to defeat Sandadder and his group. Once he had realised that apprentices- and Desertstar's kits, had been kidnapped, he was determined to take Sandadder down from the inside. He was barely a warrior, and here he was thinking he could so clearly hold the lives of apprentices in his own paws.
As he neared the Windclan camp, a familiar scent hit his nose. Desertstar herself. Good, he didn't have to sneak in and get her himself. Circling around until he was downwind, the tom crept toward the leader. As he finally reached her, he stepped calmly from between the grasses that covered the moors.
"Desertstar." He mewed coolly, his mew betraying nothing. "I have a message for you. If you want to get your kits back safely, you will listen to me." Lighthollow flicked his ears in feigned dismissiveness. "Your kits are safe, and if you comply, they will stay that way."
