Blackpaw
Windclan Apprentice
A huff escaped the small black and gray tabby molly as her light green gaze was narrowed, focused on the sight of the moors in front of her while Wolfstar was humming a small tune. It was Blackpaw’s first day of apprenticeship, her and Eveningpaw’s ceremony had gone smoothly.. Up until Wolfstar had chosen her to become his apprentice. What did the gray and white leader want with her? The molly had preferred to keep a low profile during her training, now she would have the leader of Windclan ensuring that she would become a capable warrior. One thing was for certain, she hated attention when it was placed on her.. Why did Wolfstar wanna mentor her? Blackpaw wasn’t anything special.
It was night time.
“Why are we out here so late? Shouldn’t we be going home?” Blackpaw grumbled, looking up at the large tom. However, her mouth parted slightly to look at the many stars in the sky as the two of them were walking through the moors. The newly made apprentice had stopped for a moment to admire the nightsky, how fascinating it was. Nothing could really compare to this moment, something she wouldn’t even forget in the far future. Noticing that her mentor was still padding towards the direction of a couple of flat rocks, Blackpaw snapped out of her thoughts before quickly running after him “Hey! Don’t forget about me! I won’t be able to get home on my own.” Blackpaw had sassed him, squinting her eyes at him.
“This is why you aren't my favorite cat, that position is filled already.” Blackpaw said, giving a small hmph and tilted her head up to look away from him. What a feisty female! If Wolfstar wanted to train her, fine.. Although young Blackpaw wasn’t going to make it easy for him! It wasn’t until noticing the Windclan leader sitting down that caused Blackfire to arch an eyebrow for a moment before approaching the much larger tom, looking at him with curiosity before sitting next to him.
“Why are we looking at the stars?” Blackpaw questioned.
Blackpaw
Windclan Apprentice
The black and gray molly was looking at the starry night before turning towards her mentor, her light green eyes widened slightly at the Windclan leader’s words. Wolfstar would eventually leave her one day, watching her from Starclan. Looking down at the ground for a moment, she noticed that one of Wolfstar’s paw prints was imprinted on the somewhat wet ground from the rain that happened the previous night. Getting up for a moment, she placed her much smaller paw over the paw print, a small smile formed on her face before looking up at the gray and white tom with a determined look in her eyes, a new fire had burned within Blackpaw that wouldn’t burn out despite the many challenges that were thrown her way in the far future of life.
“I’m going to be the best warrior that you’ll ever see,” Blackpaw said, her light green eyes shining. The small apprentice wanted to make her mentor proud, that he wouldn’t regret his choice of taking her on for training. “I’m going to treat everyone fairly as you do.. Even if they do act complicated” Blackpaw grumbled the last part with her eyes narrowed. It wasn’t her fault that some members in Windclan were such bird brains at times! A cheeky smile appeared on her face, before her expression turned serious “I want you to teach me to be fair, knowing to never judge a cat by their appearance but personality.” Blackpaw said, her gaze was softened for once. Who knew this old geezer would soften her heart.
A smirk escaped the small six moon old apprentice as Blackpaw suddenly lowered herself and crept away from Wolfstar as he was distracted by looking up towards the stars. The first step? Catching him off guard! The black and gray female wanted to also prove that she would be a capable warrior, that Wolfstar would become proud of her.. Even when he wasn’t physically here anymore. Wiggling her little bum once she was behind the large leader, Blackpaw bit her lower lip while a huge smile appeared on her face before suddenly pouncing on the gray and white leader and landing on his back “Roar! I got you!” Blackpaw giggled and went towards his ear and gently nipped it and tugged on it

Wolfstar was known for being one of the more spiritual leaders in the Clans. It wasn’t much of a surprise, considering WindClan prided themselves in feeling closer to StarClan than the others due to seeing the open sky during the night with nothing to cover their sights. When he closed his eyes in the stark of night, he sometimes felt as if StarClan were looking down upon him, feeling their starry pelts brush against his and hearing their whispers of encouragement in his ears, giving him strength to continue on. Cremefur and the Clan always provided him space during these moments, knowing it was best not to interrupt his prayers and meditation.
And now he was passing on his knowledge of the spirits to his latest apprentice, Blackpaw. His chin tilted down to look at the young feline as she gazed upwards in awe, seeing the reflection of the shining stars in her eyes. The leader hummed and nodded slowly, his tail tip flicking every now and then. “Yes, we will join them one day. All Clan cats do.” It wasn’t a day he particularly liked to think about. Leaving his Clan and family was a fear of his, especially leaving them feeling unfinished with his life. He prayed he would die of old age and feeling complete.
When Blackpaw spoke of her mother, he looked down at the she–cat once more with tender eyes. “Ah, yes. She is missed. I definitely understand your need and desire to know your mother personally instead of through stories. But you will one day get that chance. Although, hopefully it won’t be for a long time yet.” His gaze turned back upwards when he felt Blackpaw’s eyes on him and he smiled softly. “Yes, Blackpaw. I will leave you one day too. Not because I truly want to, but because that is the way of life. Cats die, new kits are born to carry on legacies and create their own stories. You will leave your own story one day, Blackpaw, and I encourage you to make sure that your story is a good one.” He looked back to her, his eyes more serious now instead of dreamy. “You have fire in you. You have a spark and a fight that has phenomenal potential, especially as a warrior. You can become a great warrior of WindClan, Blackpaw. So make sure that fire in you doesn’t get so big with anger or attitude that it burns the rest of your story. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
Blackpaw
Windclan Apprentice
A blush formed on Blackpaw’s face, her light green eyes narrowed slightly as the young apprentice was speechless for once as someone finally caught on to her crush!. “None of your business!” The black and gray molly said, as she was refusing to give up any of her secrets to Wolfstar! Shaking her head slightly to forget about a certain gray and white tom that gave her stomach some butterflies, she finally looked up at the sky. The small apprentice was almost speechless at the sight in front of her, it was absolutely breathtaking. “Wow.” She whispered before padding forward to look at the starry sky. Never noticing the sight during her days within the nursery, Blackpaw never knew how beautiful the starry sky could truly be.
“It’s beautiful.” Blackpaw said, following Wolfstar on the large flat rock. Almost stumbling, but the small molly quickly gathered herself. A gentle breeze had passed both felines, which caused Blackpaw to look towards the direction of a couple of flower petals that passed by her and Wolfstar. It wasn’t until she looked up towards the Windclan leader with a confused look at his question, before he finally answered it “I knew that.” Blackpaw grumbled, narrowing her eyes. Looking up, she was certainly surprised at the many members that joined the ranks of Starclan, from their oldest elder to the youngest kit “So we’ll join them one day?” Blackpaw questioned, twitching her whiskers for a moment.
Looking towards her mentor, the smaller molly went towards Wolfstar and sat in front of him as she looked up “My mother.” Blackpaw said softly, looking back at them while biting her cheek. Her and Eveningpaw’s mother had died a couple of days after their birth due to illness, something that she wished in life was to actually meet and learn more about her mother “It would had been nice to know her, expect of learning about her in stories.” The little molly replied, a sad smile appeared on her face. Thinking for a moment, Blackpaw watched the Windclan leader for a moment before frowning
“That means that you’ll leave me too one day?”
Wolfstar WindClan Leader
In the quiet of the night, the blanket of stars spread across the vast, dark sky as far as Wolfstar could see. It was the most beautiful sight to him, alive with raw energy, the glittering specks a song for the eyes. At times it felt as if he could feel them somehow, whispering in a way the ears could not hear. To think… every star was a passed warrior or member of a Clan. And how many of them were forgotten by the cats alive today? Most. That wasn’t such a depressing thought to Wolfstar, but more so of a relief. The Clans have lived on for more years than one could truly fathom, which meant so much life. New energy to fill the dens and the clearing of his WindClan camp. And a portion of that energy was falling behind as she gazed up at the stars in her own wonderment before she noticed he was more than a few paces ahead of her. The massive gray and white tom chuckled to himself as he heard her pawsteps scrambling after him. “Then don’t fall behind!” He called to her, turning his head to watch the black and gray tabby running towards him. “And we are out here late because it’s our first official outing together as mentor and apprentice. And I have some words of wisdom for your young mind. Now come!”
He pushed forward and flicked his thick tail behind him as he padded towards the flattened rocks on the edge of the moorland. These were not the moors he had grown up in. No, they were entirely new and, honestly, larger and filled with even more life. The moors he first knew held more memories than these. But he was an optimist who looked forward to the new ones he would make. Especially with his beloved pregnant mate and his kits. Blackpaw’s sassy remark made his lips pressed together to attempt at not laughing at the silly feistiness she was giving. “Oh? The position is filled? It couldn’t be a handsome tom who looks a little like me, could it?” He teased before he hopped up on one of the rocks and sat down, overlooking the moorland with striking blue eyes. His tail wrapped around his body until it landed on top of his front paws.
Waiting for Blackpaw to sit beside him, he smiled at her question and continued looking at the beautiful expanse. “We are looking at the stars because I want you to fathom something for me, Blackpaw. Every single star that you see in this sky is a warrior ancestor. The only thing of someone’s existence left behind and it is for our eyes to see. Why do you think that is?” He glanced down at her confused expression before continuing, head turning back upwards. “Each warrior, leader, deputy, medicine cat, queen, elder, and kit up there have their own story. They leave behind legends and discovery within our Clans to help build us and make us better, and stronger. They left their mark in our histories and hearts. Tell me one of your favorite stories of a cat who has passed on, Blackpaw. It can be anyone you know or not.” His gaze shifted back down to her.
