The calico tom exhaled his stresses through his nose, his way of keeping himself together and letting go of things he had no control over. But if he was being fully honest with himself, there was still a small part of him that blamed himself for this. If he had been more persistent when he first noticed something taking hold of Juncostar, maybe he could have stopped things from going this far. Maybe he could have prevented it. No one is invincible, my fledgling. Starling's words of advice resonated with him again. The mountain spirit who guided him had yet to lead him astray, and her quiet, invisible support was something he relied on to keep him grounded from worlds that no one else knew like he did.
They had left their home in ShadowClan and now secluded themselves away in the mountains outside of the territory. He hadn't been here since he was an apprentice and he recalled fondly the memories he had from his journey to find the oil-absorbent herbs. It didn't really feel like it had been so long ago, but now he was an adult and the sole healer for his Clan. He had so much more responsibility now than he did then. Life had changed a lot for him, from being a shy apprentice, afraid of what he saw and what he could do, to being a pillar for his Clan. He never saw it coming. But now, as he surveyed his surroundings, the pang of the absence of his sister hit him hard. He couldn't believe that Rowanshade had stayed behind despite the circumstances. RiverClan had been driven out... While it wasn't his home, they were a big part of who he was. It wasn't something they could let slide.
Waspsight got to his paws, determination in his stride. Enough was enough. They needed to do something now, before it really was too late. "Mercuryrose," He called to his deputy as he located her among the group of cats, singling out her presence among them and urging her forward to his side. As she joined him, he quietly guided her away from prying ears and eyes so that the two of them could speak more privately concerning matters of ShadowClan's future. "We need to do something," he echoed his thoughts, urgency betraying the unease in his voice.
Mercuryrose
Shadowclan Deputy
The large rose-gold and black molly was listening to Murkywolf’s suggestions, watching with an unreadable expression. Feeling something soft and small brushing up against her forearm, The Shadowclan deputy’s gaze softened at the sight of her daughter, Silkkit. The youngest of her litter was a little spit-fire already, declaring it was her way or the highway. Mercuryrose knew that Silkkit’s temper would be something to work with her future mentor. Thankfully the rest of her litter was very mellowed out with Mintstrike as their father while Silkkit inherited her mothers’ attitude and temper. Looking back at Murkywolf, she knew that Widowsting would be giving Silkkit a scolding later for sneaking out during naptime. Mercuryrose had called a mini meeting between a small council while a small group of Shadowclan had left the main camp after the events of the Gathering. The deputy wasn’t going to tolerate Juncostar’s behavior, Waspsight’s voice caused Mercuryrose’s ears to perk up slightly before the sight of the calico tom came into view. Narrowing her eyes before nodding,
Mercuryrose leaned down and nudged her kit towards the direction of the nursery. SIlkkit had turned back to give a look before Mercuryrose narrowed her eyes. The little kit was grumbling before making her way towards the direction of the nursery. Following the small calico healer, the two were in a secluded spot of the mini camp.
The Shadowclan deputy had listened to his words carefully before taking in a deep breath through her nose before a soft sigh escaped her nostrils. It certainly was very hard times, but Mercuryrose had to get through it for the sake of the ones looking at her for leadership along for the sake of her little ones. “Murkywolf had gotten intel that some of Thunderclan had also left, I’m hoping to send a patrol to their camp to see what their plans are.” Mercuryrose said, looking towards the large warrior before closing her eyes “I’m going to lead a patrol to Firestar and Skyclan to see their plans, while Ravenwatcher will go to Windclan.”
Opening her eyes for a moment, she let out a soft sigh “Silkkit and Cowkit are starting their hunter crouches today while Marshkit and Trufflekit have been eager to start climbling” The Deputy said, as she knew Waspsight didn’t need to know the business of her family life.. But in these times, her stability with her family has been her rock.
