Thornkit
“Everyone, I want you to follow your father and don’t wander off! Stay with your buddy!” Thornkit could hear Aurora calling out as the brown and white tom was padding next to Scorchkit, the younger brother giggling and bumped into his partner in crime as his eldest brother was his buddy. In front of them, Firestar was leading the family towards a nice little clearing nearby the camp for a little overnight adventure. Meanwhile Aurora was behind while making sure that no one got lost and keeping an eye on all six kits that were following after their father. The kits were five moons, their apprenticeship was coming up soon which meant this litter would be leaving Firestar and Auroraskies’ den soon to begin training. However, both parents were also preparing for the arrival of their second litter as Aurora would be heading towards Cherryblossom’s den soon to begin nesting while Firestar would prepare the den for the new arrivals.
“Guys come on! You’re too slow!” Thornkit called, looking behind to see Aurora waddling behind them with her stomach which was rounded with unborn kits. Mother had a reason to be slow, she had to take her time with traveling. However, Cosmokit and Beekit were by Aurora’s side as the two sisters were looking around the little trail they were on. Thornkit was very excited for this camping trip, him and Scorchkit woke up Firestar at the crack of dawn to make sure that the ginger Maine Coon got everything ready. The weather appeared nice, despite there still snow on the ground, but Firestar knew the territory quite well to know where it would be safe for his family to stay overnight. Hearing a small huff from Aurora, Thornkit turned back to see his mother letting out a deep breath as it appeared one of his little siblings perhaps kicked her a bit too hard. The black and golden molly noticed that everyone was looking at her and smiled softly “Everything is fine, kits are just being extra active today.” Aurora told her mate and kits, she knew that Fire was hesitant to let her join.. But she promised him that everything would be okay so long as she paced herself.
After a couple of more minutes on the trail, Firestar suddenly announced they arrived. Aurora smiled when seeing all six kits making a dash towards the small clearing that was ahead of them. Thankfully all six children were well-behaved, listening to Fire and Aurora. However, she knew that Scorchkit and Thornkit liked to cause some kind of mischief around so she wouldn’t be surprised if they tried bringing out some weird bug on their way back home. It appeared that her mate was here earlier, as there was a huge nest set up in an abandoned fox den while fresh-kill was nearby. Huh, that’s where he was last night. The pregnant molly moved towards her mate, giving him a kiss on his cheek “Thank you.” Aurora whispered softly to him, wanting the ginger tom to know that she was grateful for this little family trip. Fire knew that Aurora wanted to spend as much time with their babies as possible.
“Mom! Dad! Look!” Thornkit called, which caused Aurora to look towards her son. The molly soon began to waddle towards the group of kits that were looking down to see them staring at a Deer print on the snow. Crouching down until she was leveled with her children, Aurora observed it “Oh wow, you guys are getting good at tracking.” She purred, grinning at her children. They were quite the curious bunch, wanting to make sure that they explored everything within the camp when they first stepped outside. Tilting her head, she looked at Beekit “What do you think My little Bee? Big deer or baby deer?” She questioned, her violet-amber eyes lit up in amusement. Let’s see if her children could figure it out, her and Fire would easily know since they enjoyed plenty of strolls through the territory and exploring new things.

Thornkit
“Oh! Sweetie I don’t think that’s a good id-“ The black and golden molly said quickly, watching her eldest son lowering his nose to sniff at the deer track before suddenly letting out a squeak of surprise and quickly backing up. Looking towards her mate, her violet-amber eyes narrowed playfully at him and bumping her head against his shoulder as he found amusement in their son’s actions. Of course that was their family dynamic: Something amusing happened every day with their family. “Scorchkit, are you okay?” She said going towards the ginger and white tom and lowering herself to lick between his ears. Aurora knew that Scorchkit and Thornkit liked to act independently and didn’t need to be smothered by their mother’s love.. But Aurora couldn’t help it, they would always be her babies no matter what.
It wasn’t until her gaze went towards Thornkit as the brown and white tabby tom was making his way towards the deer track. Her youngest son was quite curious about it, and Aurora opened her mouth about to stop him until it was too late and Thornkit lowered himself to smell it. However, his reaction was different compared to Scorchkit’s. Thornkit looked at the ginger and white tom and tilted his head “Scorchkit! Why did you jump back? It doesn’t smell that bad” The tom said before giggling and suddenly ran after his eldest brother to head towards the fresh-kill pile. Aurora’s mouth was parted in shock at first, looking towards Thornkit and Firestar. Getting up, the heavily pregnant molly waddled towards her daughter Beekit.. But not before purposely bumping into her mate, and scrunching her nose playfully at the massive Ginger tom “He’s gotten that from your side” Aurora said innocently, as she knows that Fire liked to blame their kits unique personalities from her side.
Lowering herself until she was laying next to Beekit, the black and golden molly let out a loud purr at her daughter’s words “You got it!” Aurora said, excitement in her tone as the molly rubbed her cheek against her youngest daughter’s cheek “My Sweet Bee, I’m so proud of you” Aurora praised her, looking at her kit with pure adoration. Her Beekit was hers and Fire’s shyest baby, but was their sweetest one. She could tell that all the siblings, even Fire and Aurora’s eldest children were quite protective over her. Starclan help the tom who took interest in her one day, he shouldn’t be worried of not only Firestar. Noticing that a piece of fur was sticking up on Beekit’s head, Aurora began grooming the top of her daughter’s head and smiled softly at the small black and golden tortie “Thank you for helping me travel safely here Bee” She said, her voice gentle. Although having six kits, her and Fire always made sure that their children were all loved equally and always got the proper attention.
“Momma! Dad! What’s this?” Thornkit questioned the pile of pebbles that were nearby the pile of food, nearby was a huge circle that had smaller circles inside. Grabbing the piece of mouse and nudging Scorchkit, the smaller Maine Coon tom bounded towards it. Aurora chuckled and slowly got up, and waddled towards their direction. Watching as all her kits and Firestar arrived, Aurora went towards the small pebbles “This game is called Pebble Toss, I had played this game since living in the city.. My siblings and I used to play this mostly growing up” The molly explained, turning to look at Firestar with a cheeky grin on her face and going towards him. “Daddy and I played this game on one of our earliest dates, he’s very good.. Would have beaten me too” Aurora said, leaning to press a kiss on his cheek. Ah yes, their infamous pebble toss date. Fire was a quick learner, so he caught on very well by observing Aurora. The ginger tom had almost defeated her if she hadn’t pulled out one of her oldest tricks at the last moment. Although both of them were competitive, both of them had a lot of fun when playing the game.. However both of them were very childish at times, calling the other a cheater sometimes or using a distraction.
“Let’s see if you can beat the undefeated Queen at her own game” Aurora said, wiggling her eyebrows at her kits. Seeing the excitement in her children’s eyes brought warmth into her heart. Aurora knew that her biggest competition was Firestar, as her mate was going to do everything in his power to win. Of course Scorchkit and Thornkit were favorites out of the boys, Primrosekit and Tumblekit had sat on the sidelines as expected.. But Aurora had a feeling that perhaps Beekit would be the underdog.. Between her kits, it was fair game. There were three circles, the smallest one inside was ten points, the middle was six points and the smallest was four points. Going towards the pebbles, Aurora pawed the pile carefully before finding a small black pebble. Despite being heavily pregnant, Aurora was determined to show her kits how the game was done.
Her gaze was fixed on the circle for a moment, she thought about her moves for a moment before suddenly throwing her pebble towards the direction of the circles. Aurora purposely didn’t use all her strength as her pebble landed on the four point mark. Thornkit’s eyes widened “Wow!” He said before turning to Scorchkit “it’s your turn!”
Firestar |The Courageous Lion of Skyclan|
Grinning to himself as he hears his mate call out to their kits, reminding them to stick with their partner and follow closely behind their father. It was nice to think that him and his family will be able to enjoy one another without worrying so much on the clan itself. Firestar had convinced Bayleaf to keep an eye on things at camp, to allow himself time away. His kits would be turning apprentices within a moon, he wanted to cherish them as kits before they became too embarrassed to be around him or their mother. Taking a glance over his broad shoulder, amusement in his bi-colored eyes as he sees the annoyed looks of Thornkit and Scorchkit. His pace not what they were expecting, huffing a soft laugh at them. He could not risk quickening the pace for their impatience, not when their stubborn mother refused to stay at home. Flicking his ears back as he tries to listen in on Auroraskies, wanting to make sure that his heavily pregnant mate was doing okay.
The tall fiery ginger tabby was thankful for his two thoughtful daughters; Cosmokit and Beekit, noticing that each flanked their mother to set the pace. Primrosekit and Tumblekit leisurely strolled side by side within the middle of their makeshift pack. Focusing once more on his task at hand, staying on high alert, lips parted to scent the area, he wanted no surprises. Confidently weaving through the birch forest, knowing every inch of the forest, having spent years learning the territory. “Stop complaining Thornkit and Scorchkit! We are almost there!” He calls behind him, shaking his large mane in exasperation. He had hoped taking his kits out for some quality family time would do them all some good, but had a slight feeling that his two trouble makers would try to stir up trouble.
Pausing abruptly at hearing a sharp huff come from Auroraskies. Turning around quickly as he looks over at her in concern, as if she could sense his gaze, their eyes lock. Brows furrowing as he silently questions her, wanting to know if they should turn back or slow the pace even more. Though he should have known better as she gives him a reassuring smile. Studying her for a good moment before humming in acceptance and turning away to continue leading his family to the perfect spot for a little camp retreat. He would never admit it but he was excited to show them what he had managed to put together yesterday evening. After his leadership duties, he had managed to slip away from camp for a few hours to get everything together. He wanted his family to be able to enjoy their time instead of wasting it with setting everything up. Moving off to the side once he enters a decent size clearing. “We are here” he announces with a small smile.
His gaze sweeping over his late night work, pleasantly happy to notice that everything remained intact. Firestar’s attention snaps back to Auroraskies as he senses her approach him, tilting his chin downwards to look upon his mate. Purring as he feels her sweet kiss upon his cheek as she mutters her appreciation for his planned getaway. “Pleasure is all mine” he whispers back before both of them are drawn to Thornkit. Arching a brow in curiosity before joining his mate in approaching the swarm of kits huddled by deer tracks. “Oh nice eye there sport” Firestar praises before he looks down at their smallest; Beekit. Smiling warmly as he watches the golden black tortoiseshell kit study the adult male deer marks. “What do you think?” He hums out with an arched brow, wondering if she could tell the difference.
Fire had been too focused on what Beekit’s answer would be, that the father barely registered that Scorchkit had arrived to check out the hoof markings. It wasn’t until he heard the kit question where the deer’s paws were, did he look over at his son. “Deer do not have paws like us. Theirs is called hooves” he explains. Noticing the little buggar lowering to take in the scent, “Wait! Would do that if I we-“ he cuts himself off as Scorchkit rears back in disgust. Chuckling under his breath, using his large forepaw to lightly cuff him on the back of the head. “Real smooth, you did not need to get so close.” He teases his son.
Their trip was certainly off to an interesting start.
Beekit
Beekit did not know what to expect on this little trip her father had planned, but the small golden black tortoiseshell kit could tell just how excited her dad was. If her daddy was happy, then she would be happy! Biting her lower lip as she nervously glanced around, her tea green eyes taking in every detail as she goes by. Shifting her petite form closer to her heavily pregnant mother, letting her soft kitten fur brush against her mother’s black golden foreleg. “Are you sure you should be out here momma?” Her sweet delicate voice breaks the silence between them. “I just don’t want you getting hurt” she mutters, not wanting to draw attention to herself. Beekit knew that her mother knew what she was doing, but she could not help but worry as she watches Auroraskies struggle every once in a while. Throwing a worrisome glance over at Cosmokit, who flanked the other side of their mother.
Sighing quietly as her attention shifts forward, staring at the back of Thornkit and Scorchkit, listening to them complain about how slow everyone was going. Smiling in amusement at her two older brothers’ impatience, she could never understand why her two brothers loved to live in the spotlight and fast lane. Just the thought of having everyone’s eyes on her was a terrifying thought. Subconsciously her gaze flicker down to her small paws, watching her paws lightly sink into the thin layer of snow. It fascinated her, watching her paw prints appear with each step, she was making her mark! Small but a great start for Beekit! She could not help but let her anxious mind wander to the thought that in less than a few weeks she would be an apprentice. Who would be her mentor? Would she make them proud or embarrass herself altogether? She hated how her nerves often got the best of her. The only friends she has was Laurelkit and her sister; Cosmokit. Not that she was complaining! Just that it bothered her when she saw her siblings or friend being so outgoing and friendly with others. While there was times she couldn’t even utter a word without stuttering.
Snapping out of her thoughts at the huff escaping her mother. Blinking in surprise before rubbing reassuringly against Aurora with a small purr escaping her. “It’s okay momma! We are almost there!” Beekit smiles warmly up at her before continuing on. Tufted ears perking up in excitement once their father announces that they had made it. Fluffy tail flicking side to side as she follows everyone else. Quietly watching on as her siblings run around to explore the small clearing, glancing over at her parents to see them share a sweet moment between them. Beekit thought it was pure in just how much her parents loved one another, course she could just hear Scorchkit and Thornkit gagging at public display of affection. Tilting her small head as she hears Thornkit call for mom and dad, even though she was not mentioned, Beekit decided to see what all the fuss was about.
Peeking around her mother, tea green eyes peering over at the indents deer left behind. Eyes widening in surprise as she takes in the size of the markings, their hooves had to be huge! Beekit hadn’t even noticed that she moved from behind her mother to investigate the imprints closer, not until she heard her mother speak to her. Tilting her cranium upwards as her green eyes lock with the warmth of amber-violet. Ears twitching at hearing her little nickname, biting her lower lip as her attention is drawn once more to the deer hoof marks. “Uh um…I would have to say big deer! The hoof marks look too large for a baby one, plus the scent—“ the tortoiseshell kit is cut off by Scorchkit sniffing the print. Cringing as she watches her older brother rear back from the stench. “Is strong” she softly finishes, smiling meekly at Scorchkit, as if apologizing for not finishing her sentence sooner. “Was I right momma?” Beekit suddenly asks, hoping she was.

Scorchkit was so excited to finally get away from camp, although they still weren’t too far off from the comfort of their dens, it was exciting. Soon enough they would be leaving the nursery to join ranks with the other apprentices of the clan. In a way he felt like his parents were still going to their youth, wishing for them to stay small and young. Unfortunately, Scorchkit was already taller than some apprentices that were twice his age, and he held no shame in it. He just had the genetics for it, didn’t make him any more skilled than they were. White ears twitched back at the sound of his mother warning the kittens to stay with their buddies, chin turning for his pale lavender gaze to find Thornkit catching up and bumping into his side. Grinning as he bumped Thornkit back. “Don’t wander off. Or else ma will have my tail.” He snickered playfully before he looked back towards their waddling mother, eyes shifting towards Cosmokit and Beekit as their sisters hung back at a slow pace. “Too slow.” He whined and flashed his white tipped tail in irritation.
Firestar was keeping the pace slow because of them, but it was frustrating the young tom. Looking back ahead of him so that he wouldn’t smack into Firestar’s haunches. Their ginger striped pelts were similar in the layout of their stripes, but Scorchkit’s pelt was much darker than his fathers, his tabby stripes appearing to be red. Auroraskies let out a small huff but it was loud enough to catch everyones attention, Turning their gazes towards the heavily pregnant Molly. Not that Scorchkit really understood what that meant, other than her large belly and mood swings as of late. “Should mom really be out here?” Scorchkit quickly asked his father, glancing nervously over his shoulder towards his mother. Suddenly grateful that Cosmokit and Beekit were back there and not himself.
Ears perking up curiously as their father announced their arrival, six kits suddenly rushing forwards and knocking down ferns that was already barely clinging to life in the snow. Laughing, Scorchkit kicked up snow particles as he raced by Firestar, being the first to knock down the ferns and gaze upon the makeshift little camp. It was cozy for just their family, nose twitching as he looked towards the fresh-kill pile as his stomach growled. Although as Thornkit quickly exclaimed something out of excitement, Scorchkit quickly forgot the notion of food as his paws immediately carried him towards the dark brown ticked tabby.
Pale lavender eyes flickered down into the snow as Auroraskies and Beekit were eyeing some sort of print in the snow, one of his brows arching in curiosity. “That’s from a deer?” He asked immediately, for whatever reason that was not what he expected a foot print from a deer to look like. “Where’s their paws?” Scorchkit questioned, lowering his head to sniff at the print. Boy was that a mistake. Eyes watered as he reared back and coughed, shaking his head and his growing mane. “Oh my stars... that stinks.” He coughed again, almost gagging as he turned away from the print. “Baby or no baby, it stinks worse than Primrosekit.” He whined, sulking away from the print in the snow and refocusing on food.
