Mercuryrose
Shadowclan Deputy
Letting out a soft sigh through her nostrils, Mercuryrose was padding through the pine forest with Waspsight behind her. For the most part, both of them remained silent with Mercuryrose making a small observation or two of the forest. As of lately, things had been incredibly tense. When it wasn’t a serial killer threatening the clans, it was the ongoing tension between herself and Juncostar along with Shadowclan’s ongoing feud with Thunderclan about a litter of kits. Knowing that Waspsight either wanted to speak about the Ripper, her relationship with Juncostar or about this pointless war.. Mercuryrose had enough of it, wanting to just have a moment of peace while Waspsight was looking for herbs.
“You’ve been awfully quiet,” Mercuryrose observed, knowing a lot was going through the calico tom’s mind. It wasn’t until both felines had made it out of the forest and towards rhe outskirts of the territory, a cliff nearby. A winter breeze had went through her, which caused Mercuryrose to close her eyes for a moment as she actually relaxed within the moment. It was incredibly rare to see the Shadowclan Deputy in such a peaceful state as of late, but everything changed almost quickly as she heard a low rumble which caused her to open her dark green eyes.
At the entrance of the pine forest, it was Renly standing in front of them, a couple of feet away. The wind was going through his black mane, his shark tooth necklace was moving slightly with the wind. Dark ember eyes were staring at Mercuryrose with such hatred, his focus wasn’t on the calico healer. It was silent for a moment before the Shadowclan Deputy stood in front of the calico tom “I was expecting to see you at some point.” Mercuryrose said, her tone was smooth. The black and rose-gold molly had knew this encounter would had happened eventually, whenever she was in the clans or not. Renly peered over at the small calico tom standing behind Mercuryrose with a smirk on his face “Protecting the innocent, that’s a new sight from you.” The Ripper said, before he began padding closer to them. Mercuryrose was tense, ready to spring into action
“Innocence is quite a mischievous thing you see.. You’re born with it, having it for such a short while before the world takes it from you, It’s always been a sight for me. Snuffing the innocence and lives away from others, watching their light burn out.” Renly said, looking right at Waspsight. The sooner that the medience cat was taken out, there weren’t be any witnesses. The mountain cat had assured to his mate, Desertrain, that everything would happen smoothly. Besides, with the golden Bengal’s newfound freedom.. He wanted the small molly to explore herself with what she liked and whatnot when it came to killing.
Within quick movements, Renly took a swipe which caused Mercuryrose to stumble sideways. It wasn’t until Renly leaped forward with his long black claws reaching towards Waspsight’s neck but suddenly shrieked when Mercuryrose’s teeth quickly sunk into his forearm and with her body, knocked Waspsight out of the way from the Ripper.
Renly the Ripper
The tom had let out a snarl, his other paw smacking into Mercuryrose’s face which caused the Maine Coon to release her grip on his other foreleg and stumble back. The black and rose-golden molly’s ears were ringing, Waspsight’s voice was a faint call towards her. The Shadowclan deputy had felt the world was spinning , but she looked up at him with determination in her dark green eyes. Mercuryrose knew that she needed to either end this fight by somehow killing Renly, or somehow throw him over the cliff. Her chances were extremely slim, the reason why she didn’t get killed by him the last time was because Twilightfoot had managed to calm the beast by cutting an unknown deal. Letting out a breath, Mercuryrose had spit out a bit of blood from Renly’s blow earlier. When it came to the Ripper, he used his strength and speed. It also was known, he played extremely dirty with his battles.
“I studied your Empires.. You.” Renly began, moving towards her. A wicked grin appeared on his face when noticing Mercuryrose growing tense. The mountain cat would deal with the Shadowclan deputy before moving on to the Healer, which wouldn’t be hard at all as it appeared the calico tom was defenseless as a newborn kit. “So much knowledge about your traditions.. Your ethics, it’s almost like a curse.” Renly rumbled, addressing both Waspsight and Mercuryrose. The large Maine Coon molly stood there for a moment before shaking her head “My only curse besides my father, is you.” Mercuryrose quietly said, her mind going back to all the pain and misery that Renly had caused her family. The Mountain Cat leaped towards her, Mercuryrose nearly colliding into him if she didn’t sidestep in time. All she needed was for Renly to tire himself out with his missed strikes and quick movements before she could finally take the advantage.
Renly swiped at her head to which Mercuryrose ducked and quickly moved until she raked her claws into his chest which caused Renly to release a loud hiss as the Deputy’s claws stuck into him and swiped down roughly, causing a little bit of blood to draw. The mountain looked down at his wound before chuckling “All that, for a drop of blood?” Renly questioned. His paws clenching into a fist before moving to punch her in the jaw which caused Mercuryrose to collapse into the ground. The mountain cat soon moved on top of her and began swinging which caused his paws to connect to her face. Mercuryrose was attempting to shield her face and quickly kicked his back leg in with her own and caused the Mountain Cat to lose balance for a moment. With Renly caught off guard, her curved claws came out before lashing out and connecting to his right cheek. While her black curve claws hit the skin, it pierced through the skin and she yanked quickly to cause a huge gash to open.
Cursing, Renly got off which caused Mercuryrose to scramble onto her paws. Looking over, she saw a stone with a sharp end. The Deputy quickly ran towards it to grab it, but Renly grabbed her back leg and pulled her back. Both felines were scrambling to get the sharp stone, but when Mercuryrose grabbed it, Renly grabbed the back of her head and slammed it into the ground. Letting out a cry of pain, Renly chuckled before rolling her over. “The great minds always go through the greatest Sacrifices.” Renly observed, watching Mercuryrose breathing quickly. It wasn’t until she closed her eyes for a moment, she had managed to get the sharp stone in her paw and moved to stab him. Renly’s eyes widened before grabbing her paw, snatching the rock out of her paw before ramming it into her stomach.
Mercuryrose’s cry was loud.
Renly smirked as he soon got off her, moving until his teeth grabbed her scruff and began dragging her towards the direction of the cliff. Blood was coming out of the Shadowclan Deputy as it began leaving a trail. Mercuryrose was coughing out blood, her dark green eyes were half-opened as she looked at Waspsight. He needed to run. Her rose-gold paw reached out to him, but there was nothing the healer could do. Flinging her to the edge, Renly tilted his head for a moment “I hope they remember you.. As your sacrifice will be for the greater good.” He said, his dark ember eyes shined. Renly avenged his former mate’s death, just as he promised her… While his revenge was sweet.. He knew that his Rain wanted revenge for the injustice she had faced, along with feeling the need to get rid of the Empires. They must be disbanded.. Then, his Rain and himself could live peacefully at a beautiful field, causing chaos in their wake.
With that, Renly turned around and kicked Mercuryrose off the cliff.
It wasn’t until he caught Waspsight’s gaze and let out a low growl, making his way towards the healer.
No witnesses.

With the cold season upon them, Waspsight knew that he would need to replenish his herb stock. He could no longer rely on Hareflight to help him out in tending to their stock of plants and the upkeep was his responsibility alone now. He had to prepare for the harshness of Leaf-Bare and salvage whatever plantlife he could before they all died away. However, with a killer on the loose, he couldn’t go alone. To his surprise, when he brought up the subject to Mercuryrose, the deputy offered to accompany him. Despite the tension in ShadowClan recently between the ranks, he didn’t voice a complaint and the two of them departed for the territory.
As he searched for herbs, the golden-mottled deputy spoke up, gaining his attention as she called him out for being silent during their trip. “Ah, I… Didn’t mean to be,” He confessed, feeling somewhat awkward under her scrutinous gaze. After all, her current status with Juncostar was her business, not his. Even if their being at odds with one another affected him, he didn’t feel as though it was appropriate for him to input himself into their affairs. “I’m just not sure what to say-”
Waspsight found himself cut off by an oncoming growl, which made him stiffen in place. As precautious as they had been to travel in pairs should they encounter the ripper, the reality of staring him in the face was something else entirely that he wasn’t prepared for. Stars, I should have done more battle training with Scorpionthroat when I had the chance, he cursed internally. His jaw stiffened as Renly addressed him directly, terror gripping him like the claws of death he promised. Mercuryrose stepped in front of him without hesitation, shielding him from this monster.
Even though he knew it was coming, he still wasn’t ready for the attack. The sight of claws curling with the intent to sink into his throat took him aback, the calico tom stumbling awkwardly backwards as the ShadowClan deputy sprang forward to intercept the assault. “Mercuryrose!” He called out to her in concern, unable to do anything as the two of them tossled.
