“Get some rest Roachy. I’ll handle everything now.” Seeing this black pelted friend back to the warrior's den, the two had quite the day together and with the sun setting it was time for them to return home. Skunkbreeze wanted to join his other half in the warriors den, but the tom had things to do. His expression was soft as he watched Roachwing leave his side so he could take the reins on figuring things out with Mellowfrost. Skunkbreeze, admittedly couldn't help the glare that developed on his muzzle when he turned to find the dusty colored warrior, he didn't mean it was just a habit at this point. The black and white tom took a step back, allowing his facial muscles to relax, unclenching his jaws as he trotted slowly towards the prior deputy. Taking a deep breath, his voice boomed louder than he expected it to, “Mellowfrost!” He flinched slightly with how harsh his own tone sounded. Clearing his throat he lowered his tone, “Mellowfrost. Would you mind joining me on a walk?” Putting on his best ‘nice guy’ grin in hopes the warrior would agree.
Pleased with Mellowfrost answer Skunkbreeze lead the way outside of the camp, ignoring the whispers and stares from the other clan members as they two left camp. Shadowclan was very much aware of the situation the three toms were in, it was obvious, he was sure they were probably taking bets on which tom would win this fight. What they didn't know was that there was no fight, indeed Skunkbreeze goal was the opposite. Skunkbreeze had thought long and hard about the decision he and Roachwing came to, it wasn’t easy but no one ever said love was easy. He had been working up the courage to have this talk with Mellowfrost, his date with Roachwign gave him the push he needed to pull the prior deputy away from the camp. The silence screamed in Skunkbreezes ears, sounds he normally couldn't hear now flooded him. Swallowing hard he turned to face the warrior, “So um I wanted to talk to you about something or well someone really.” Find a nice warm spot for the two to sit and chat, making sure the spot was clear of any debris such as leaves or sticks they wouldn't poke Mellowfrost, gesturing for the tom to sit with him. “It's more like I want to talk about someone. Roachwing to be more specific. I love him Mellowfrost, I always have. He’s my soulmate truly.” The thought of his lover sparked joy in the large warrior's life, his whole life lighting up whenever he got to mention him. His nose twitched as he brought himself back to reality, “Roachwing feels the same about me…but he also feels the same about you, if it wasn't clear yet.”
Skunkbreeze ears velcroid to his skull, him insecure? Yea right, he just didn't know how to accept the fact that there was someone else who cared for his Roachwing just as much as he did. Skunkbreeze wasn’t worried about Roachwing loving one of them more than the other, he was concerned that Mellowfrost would treat him better than Skunkbreeze ever could. Afraid that even if Roachwing loved him he’d still be left behind. “I'm not insecure Mellowfrost. I just don't know how to…how to be what he wants me to be.”
Skunkbeeze spent his entire life loving Roachwing, but in every future he saw of them, there was never anyone else in them. It was always Skunkbreeze and Roachwing, Roachwing and Skunkbreeze. Coming to terms with the idea that their future has changed is what he is struggling with. Skunkbreeze pawed pitifully at the ground, he didn't even like Mellowfrost but here he was opening up to all his feelings to this stranger. He didn't have a choice, the last thing he wanted to do was to make Roachwing think he wasn't happy with him.
“I love him, I love him so much that I struggle with the idea of letting him love another. I want to monopolize him.
“But I know neither of us would be happy that way.”
The large black and white tom's gaze moved to the prior deputy, his muzzle falling into a helpless kitten pout. His tail tucked tightly underneath him, “I want to make him happy, I just thought, I guess I thought maybe you could help me in some way.”
Skunkbreeze felt a shiver rush down his spine when he felt Mellowfrost gaze staring him down, swallowing hard the tom cat turned away, “Forget about it, its a dumb question. I'm sorry to disturb your healing.” Walking away from the brown warrior, Skunkbreeze sighed heavily he knew walking away now wouldn't solve anything. He needed Mellowfrost to get through this time, he wouldn't change if he kept avoiding the situation and only focusing on his wants and needs.
Glancing over his shoulder, his lips parted as a soft tone accompanied his words, “I want to change, I need to change for him. I want to be happy with him. Was it always this easy for you to accept loving more than just one?"
