Edgefrost
Riverclan Warrior
His dark eyes were narrowed slightly, a small huff had escaped him as the massive Maine Coon was stalking through the direction of the Thunderclan border. Pebblebelly had told him that someone was waiting for him around that area, and Edgefrost was certain that it was Chanetellefrost. Their one night of passion was a while ago, and he promised that they would never interact again so no one would suspect anything. It was just a normal day in the Riverclan camp with his sons until Pebblebelly barged into the conversation. Unfortunately the light gray warrior had been ripped a new one by the black and gray tom. While being pulled back by Sleekfeather, he was told to cool down so Edge had left Riverclan to have a moment alone to himself before going to see Chantellefrost.
Was she okay?
Edgefrost didn’t develop romantic feelings towards the beautiful bengal, their one night of passion had happened due to physical attraction and loneliness. What was she thinking about asking to see him again, they could be caught! Closing his eyes for a moment, Edge let out a loud groan. It wasn’t until Edgefrost stopped at the sight of Chant that caused him to stop for a moment, the Bengal didn’t notice him yet. The molly was sitting nearby, her gaze focused on the ground. The way that Chant had her tail around herself protectively around herself. There was something about her expression that was unreadable, was everything ok? Leaning on the willow tree for a moment, he observed her. Although there weren't any romantic feelings involved, he cared about the beautiful bengal that was in front of him. Why did she look so uncertain?
Did anyone find out about their one night stand?
Clearing his throat slightly, Edge’s shoulder rested on the bark of the willow with his eyes narrowed. “I thought you had mentioned it would be better if we didn’t speak to each other again.” Edge said, arching an eyebrow. Letting out a sigh, the massive Maine Coon made his way towards the bengal molly. Stopping at the invisible line that was the Thunderclan-Riverclan border, he studied her for a second. What was going through that head of hers? Edge never understood females, it was probably the reason why his romantic relationships resulted in failure. Thank Starclan that he had sons, as he would have been in trouble if Edge had daughters.
“So what’s wrong? I know you wouldn’t cause me to almost beat up a clanmate after he so publicly told my other peers that you needed to see me.” Edge said dryly, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. If Chant was here to start some kind of confrontation, he wasn’t in the mood. Sitting down for a moment, his feathery tail wrapped neatly around his paws as he awaited his answer. Little did Edge know, both of their lives were about to change forever.. That Edge and Chant’s relationship was about to change forever.

It was such a relief to have the reassurance from Edgefrost, to hear him stand up in his responsibility in the pregnancy. She had heard of his wreck less behavior and playboy ways especially after the messy departure from his ex mate. Yet, seeing this caring side of him melted her heart, she could not help but silently wish he would show that side of him to others often. Why did Tom cats believe that appearing tough is what she-cats found attractive in regards to lifetime commitment? Chanterellefrost had a feeling that not even Starclan knew, and felines say Molly’s are complicated? Nodding in agreement, yes they were both equally at fault. If they hadn’t met that night they wouldn’t be in this predicament. Though, as the cherry bengal molly glances down at her barely swollen bump, she could not help but smile in excitement and love. She could not wait to welcome her kits into the world.
Tilting her chin upwards as she feels Edge’s large paw gently cover her stomach. Silently watching his eyes light up just like how hers had done previously. He was excited too. “I don’t need you to be a perfect man” Chant softly says. A small smile gracing her beautiful features, “I just need you to be a father.” If he was willing to stand by her and the kits, to be in their lives, that’s more than what she could ask for and had hoped for. Shifting slightly away from the Maine Coon, rubbing her eyes to get rid of the dried tears. Scoffing back a laugh as he grumbles out that it was no one’s business. “I wish that were true. Sadly my ex-mate is the leader. I doubt he will not let it slide. But you are right, it is no one’s business but our own” Chant firmly agrees. She would not give her clan mates the satisfaction of knowing. “Yes, a place of neutral ground would be best. I don’t want to have to keep covering for your impulsive actions of crossing the border” Chant lightly teases as she nudges him carefully back into Riverclan.
Ears swirling in his direction, taking in his tone of voice as he expresses the want of having a daughter. Chant could only imagine how he was handling all boys on his own. “Be careful what you wish for! Daughters know how to get you wrapped around their little paws” She warns with amusement in her cyan turquoise eyes before rising to her paws to follow along. “Have anywhere in mind?” She wonders. This was just the beginning of a new chapter for these unlikely felines. A friendship forged by a one night of passion and lifetime of co-parenting.

Riverclan Warrior
Everything had hit him all at once like a truck, how life could easily change within a night. Something that Edge was more used to keeping his emotions inside in a way to protect himself and others around him. Because when you’re tough, you don’t get hurt. Edge had to watch out for himself in order for nothing could touch his loved ones. His previous relationship didn’t work out with Snowstar, ensuring that his sons had a decent life despite their mother not being in it.. Yet somehow, if the gray and white molly would come back to Riverclan.. Edge wouldn’t want anything to do with Snowstar but would allow their sons to have a relationship with her if they chose that. That chapter was closed, it was the end. Perhaps it was meeting that beautiful Maine Coon molly at the caves that had changed that, along with Chanterellefrost that helped along with that. Letting out a soft hum, Edge shook his head while his gaze was focused on her stomach. The cherry Bengal didn’t even look pregnant at all, it would be a small litter.
“Why would I be upset? It takes two to tango.” Edge said, looking at Chanterellefrost with an arched eyebrow. It wasn’t the molly’s fault that she had gotten pregnant, it wasn’t his fault either.. Sometimes, life just happens. Rubbing his paw against her stomach, the small bump was there. A soft smile appeared on his face, looking down once more. Edge hadn’t thought about fathering another litter of kits, he swore off settling down and having another family. “We may be in different clans, but our kits will have the best life possible with us as their parents.. I’m not the most perfect man, but you and the kits will be looked after.” Edge promised, giving her a nod. The cherry Bengal and him were together for life now, by children. Edge didn’t have any romantic feelings for her but he would still treat her respectfully as the mother of his unborn children.
Narrowing his eyes, Edge let out a scoff while shaking his head “It’s no one’s business about who is the father of the kits in your clan, tell them to piss off and leave you alone.” Edge grumbled, alas his usual self had returned. Only a rare amount of felines would see that other side of Edge, Chanterellefrost would be one of those too. Letting out a soft sigh through his nose, the massive black and gray Maine Coon bit the inside of his cheek for a moment before speaking “We’ll find a place that’s somewhere away from the clans so we can have time together with the kits there, two or three times every moon” Edge said, looking at the molly who nodded in agreement. He wasn’t going to let the beautiful molly beside him raise their kits alone, Edge was taught better than that.
A chuckle escaped the massive Maine Coon, shaking his head in amusement “I hope we have at least one girl, haven’t gotten one yet.” Edge said, looking at the sky for a moment. He hadn’t gotten a daughter yet, all of his children were male. Although Edge loved his boys, he couldn’t wait for the day that a little daughter would enter his life and would have an overprotective father and brothers looking after her. Looking towards the direction of the neutral territory, he beckoned his head towards the direction “Come on, we got planning to do.. Find a spot in which we can raise the kits when we do visits.” Edge said, getting up and began guiding her towards the direction of the unknown land. It was certainly something Edge didn’t expect, but he would have to make sure that the mother of his kits and their children were safe and happy while everyone was together.
Chanterellefrost |The Unbroken of Thunderclan|
Biting her lip harshly after the reality of her words set in for the both of them. She is pregnant…they were going to have kits even though both resided in different clans. How was that suppose to work? ‘How do I explain this to my clan?’ Chant sighs softly to herself at the heaviness of her thoughts weighted down on her shoulders. She could tell that Edgefrost was having mixed feelings about her news. She could not blame the black and gray Maine Coon, their night of passion was suppose to be exactly as it sounds; a night. Now the two were forever bond to the other for the conception of the kits growing within her. That is….if he wanted anything to do with them, Edge could easily reject her pregnancy and move on and she would not stop him.
Glancing away from him, not wanting to see the distaste in his wonderful green eyes. She noticed the tense body language of dread radiating from him as he realizes that she was not messing with him, that her words rang true. Chanterelle knew that she would be going through this pregnancy alone, no one could know that Edgefrost fathered her kits, she would have to think of something. Raising kits on her own would be tough at first, but in a way she had grown accustomed to doing so with her second litter with Hawkstar as her ex-mate had been occupied with his leadership duties. She knew that her and her unborn kits would survive this, no matter how alone and terrified she felt.
Jaw clenching as she focuses on the ground before her. Throat tightening as she refrains from allowing her tears to escape her blue eyes. ‘Don’t worry little ones. I am here’ she silently whispered to her kits within her womb. Her attention suddenly snaps back towards Edge as he approaches her, stepping over the border as if it did not bother him one bit. Cyan blue eyes widening in alarm, “Edge! You know you aren’t suppose to cross! You could get into trouble!” Chanterellefrost tries to warn him. When suddenly all words and thoughts left her as he carefully brings her into a warm embrace. Feeling his large chest against her cheek and his paw rubbing soothing circles along her back as his chin rests lightly upon her cranium.
Just feeling such comfort and reassurance from Edge that she in fact would not be alone was enough to cause her tears to brim over the edge. Shaking and hiccuping into his chest fur, crying in relief and gratitude that he too would take responsibility. “T-thank you” she whispers softly as he carefully pulls away from her. She was certain that her blue eyes now rimmed red from her tears. Giving him a small smile in return and nodding as he explains that he was not going anywhere. “You aren’t upset?” She could not help but question, brows creasing as she studies the calm gentle expression of his face. “I want you to be as involved as you would like” she admits, Chant would not keep her kits away from their father. Sucking on her lower lip anxiously as she notices his attention drift over her stomach, trying to gauge her pregnancy.
“Ah the medicine cat believes I won’t show as much that it seems like a small litter” Chant felt compelled to explain. Sniffling softly as his paw lays gently upon her abdomen as he promises to help provide for their kits. That’s more than she could ever ask for. “I was so afraid that you would hate me and resent me” The Cherry brown bengal admits with a sheepish look before placing her smaller paw over his. Her focus then adverts to what she believed the genders to be. “Hmmm how about one girl and one boy? I think that would be perfect” she shrugs before clearing her throat. “No one can know about us. How do we go about this? What am I suppose to tell my clan?”

His dark green gaze was narrowed for a second as the cherry Bengal was looking at him for a moment, his tail flicking back and forth impatiently as he awaited her response. Whatever it is, it better be important. Opening his mouth to say something, it wasn’t until his ears perked up at her sudden announcement to him that caused him to stop. Her words echoed through his ears that made his blood feel cold. His eyebrows furrowed for a moment, his gaze looking at her stomach. Chant barely looked pregnant. Looking up and meeting her blue eyes, he bit the inside of his cheek as Edge was awaiting for the molly to say it was merely a joke. However… The Thunderclan molly looked completely serious to which Edge looked at the ground for a moment before letting out a soft sigh through his nose and slowly nodded as the massive Maine Coon was processing the news.
He was a father, to a molly that he wasn’t mates with.
Closing his eyes for a moment, he was mentally cursing at himself. This was the last thing that Edge wanted, to have children from another clan. Despite the appearance, Edge handled being a single father well. When Snowstar had left, Edge picked up the pieces himself and became more independent out of it. Nothing could touch him, Nothing could break him. His kits and friends never saw that sensitive side of him, he had to be strong for them. The only recent feline was Chant during their one night of passion. It wasn’t until he opened his eyes that his gaze looked at her, and his expression had fallen slightly. Chant looked scared, she looked alone.
This was the last thing he wanted, for her to be so scared.
The massive Maine Coon got up and made his way towards her, crossing into the Thunderclan without any hesitation. Screw the border, comforting the mother of his children was more important. Moving until his massive paw brought the smaller molly into an embrace, his paw was rubbing smooth circles into her back as his chin rested on her head. Letting out a soft hum, Edge felt her body starting to shake. “I’m here.” Edge muttered softly to her before pulling away slightly to look at her for a moment before a small smile appeared on his face. His former mate was terrified when she had announced when she was pregnant with their first litter, and again on their second litter. Edge didn’t want to cause Chant any discomfort. “I’m not leaving, I’m not upset.” He said, his rough voice was soft for once.
“If you want me to, I’ll be involved.” Edge said slowly, looking into her blue eyes with an eyebrow arched. Edge fathered these kits, but it would be Chant’s choice if she wanted him involved with their children. It wasn’t until she nodded that he looked at her stomach, her stomach barely swollen but his kits were in there. “I’ll provide for you in any way to take care of you and the kids.” He promised her, his paw moved to rest gently on her stomach, almost covering it entirely. Edge knew it would be very difficult, especially having a family outside of his birth clan. Although he felt sorrow within that moment, he knew that he would be missing out on his children’s life everyday.. Only being involved on the sides whenever he could be.
A sad smile appeared on his lips “So you think we’re having boys or girls?”
Chanterellefrost |The Unbroken of Thunderclan|
‘What am I doing?’ Is all she could think, biting her lower lip as the cherry brown bengal begins pacing along the border. She felt idiotic for asking that Riverclanner to get Edgefrost, knowing that they both had agreed to never speak about their night of passion. It had been a moment of attraction and loneliness from being on her own for moons. Even though Hawkstar and herself had separated on neutral terms, she felt alone, as if the clan around her was silently judging her for breaking it off with her mate, the leader of Thunderclan. Chanterellefrost knew it was mostly in her head, but the feeling remained. Now…now she had to explain why she was breaking the agreement with Edgefrost, why she asked to see him when they weren’t suppose to see one another after that night few weeks ago. She supposed that she deserved whatever outcome comes from this conversation, as she knew she should not have given in to temptation. Though, Chant also could not bring herself to regret that night, as it had been the first time in moons that she felt wanted. Sighing heavily as she settles down on her hunches, the urge to pace having left her. Her piercing cyan blue eyes flicker down to her stomach, feeling her heart thump loudly and butterflies swarm within her stomach. She was going to be a mother!
She hadn’t expected to have anymore kits after her second litter with her ex-mate, but a surprise was steadily growing within her. The kit or kits would be here before she knew it, and she needed to come up with a plan, a way to ensure her kits remain save from scrutiny. Chanterelle also wanted to tell the father, she did not expect anything to come out of it, but she knew that she would not be able to handle the guilt of keeping the kits a secret from Edgefrost. Wrapping her long tail securely around her small frame, trying to provide herself some comfort as she anxiously awaits. How would he handle the news? She expected that he would be angry or frustrated in the turn of events—probably regretting their moment together and worst of all: want nothing to do with being a father to the kit or kits. She knew she could handle raising them on her own, she had raised her two litters mostly by herself while her ex-mate was strapped hard with warrior duties and then becoming the leader. She just could not handle remaining silent to the father, he deserved to know, even if he didn’t like it.
Having been so absorbed in her own turmoil, she had not noticed the presence of the large black and grey Maine Coon. Not until his deep voice filters around her, causing her cranium to shoot up in surprise and slight panic. Hoping she would have had more time to collect her raging thoughts, but she was out of time. Feeling her mouth suddenly become dry as she watches Edge lean against a tree as he silently regard her. Chant could tell that he was not pleased to be there, having thought he had seen the last of her weeks ago. Ears pinning back against her cranium, worry clouding in her blue eyes as he moves closer. “Yes, I did say that” she slowly agrees, pursing her lips as she wished that she didn’t have to speak with him but nonetheless here they were. Flinching slightly as he asks the question she was dreading: what’s wrong? ‘Too many things are wrong…I don’t know what to do’ is what she thought, but could not bring herself to utter those words.
A sheepish look replaces her nervous features at the mention of Pebblebelly, she had told him to be discreet, but it would seem that he had done the opposite. “I am so sorry to bother you! I know we agreed to never see one another or discuss what happened—I fully intended that to be the last we saw one another. I wouldn’t have broken such a promise unless it was important” Chanterelle tries to explain herself, though she felt that she probably made Edgefrost more confused on why they were meeting in the first place. How do you tell someone who isn’t your mate, but a one night stand that you are now pregnant with his kits? There was no way to go about this situation, so instead of trying to sugar coat it, she decided to be out with it.
Taking a deep breath, her eyes flickering up to lock with his dark green ones, “I am pregnant. And yes, the kits are yours.”
