Deep azure eyes were lazily roaming along the familiar tree line, letting out a slow and soft sigh. She had no idea about training a cat younger than herself. Although she was not a mentor to this apprentice, she still felt awkward being sent on this two feline, eyes narrowing slightly as she glanced towards Willowpaw. Pressing her lips together before clearing her throat and letting out an awkward smile. “So… uh.. Is this your first time heading the meadow?” She questioned. Borderline WindClan was a small patch of land that was actually ShadowClan’s but instead of the common marsh, the land was solid and covered in tall grass.
Dainty white paws were trailing through the snow and grass, ears twitching slightly as she stood at the edge of the tree line, her eyes cautiously roaming around the meadow and looking up at the sky brief. Great Starclan, she really disliked being so out in the open. Perhaps that’s why Willowpaw’s mentor had paired them together for the day. Breathing in slowly, the black and white tuxedoed she-cat finally stepped out from the tree line, nose twitching at the way the cold winds were already tugging on her pelt. “Do you see any snowberries?” Shadeflower questioned, her dark fur ruffled.

birds... willowpaw mused, what kind of birds would hunt cats over a meadow? sure, owls were big and could injure cats...but she found it hard to believe that an owl would hunt directly over a meadow where they were easily spotted! as the other she-cat examined the plant she had pointed out, willowpaw's ears flattened in dismay as she found out she was wrong. and she had been feeling good about it, too!
"okay...fruity...with cinnamon." she thought she could tell what that would smell like. with red berries too... willowpaw nodded thoughtfully, heading toward the river with quick pawsteps, tail twitching on the way. as she padded to the side of the river, she began snuffling around in the plant life beside the water. "are snowberries even real?" she muttered, struggling to find anything that smelled remotely fruity.

Shadeflower nodded and looked towards Willowpaw as she trembled her whiskers slightly “I don’t particularly care for the meadow.” She said softly, her eyes lifting towards the sky as they walked out into the open. Black fur bristled and stood up along her shoulders from unease as her deep blue eyes were glancing around anxiously. “Keep an eye out for birds.” The young warrior warned as she finally lowered her chin to let out a slow sigh before she crouched down slightly to sniff the ground. Fruity and Cinnamon. She was reminding herself from what she had been told, pressing her lips together in slight frustration. She wasn’t exactly smelling that anywhere in this small area.
Ears perked up when Willowpaw asked her if a plant could possibly be the snowberries. Now knowing any better, she padded over towards the apprentice. Eyes narrowing slightly as she lowered her nose to sniff at the plant, frowning at the sour scent. “I don’t think so. Snowberries smell fruity with cinnamon.” She explained, eyes lifting back towards the sky for a moment before turning her chin back towards the trees but she couldn’t see any bushes that would hold red berries. “Oh! Hareflight also mentioned that the berries were red.” She added with a sheepish smile, probably something she should’ve said much earlier.
“Maybe we should check closer to the river.” She suggested, looking up towards the sky once again before tentatively padding through the tall grass.

The walk had been painfully silent until now, Willowpaw padded beside the she-cat who was not her mentor, ears flicking occasionally, but her eyes trained on the ground that they walked. Finally lifting her gaze enough to actually look at the other she-cat, her ripped ear twitched thoughtfully. She hadn't actually been to the meadow yet, her training so far had consisted of hunting among the trees of the marshy areas of the territory. "Er...no, I haven't been to the meadow yet..." Willowpaw cast her glance out, over the aforementioned meadow, a curiosity bubbling behind her eyes. Focusing her gaze, she scanned her surroundings. Although, the apprentice...didn't know quite what she was looking for. Opening her mouth, she toyed with the thought of asking for advice...but decided better of it rather quickly, and closed it once more.
Padding out into the meadow, Willowpaw sniffed around, before stopping beside a patch of ragwort. She was no medicine cat- the young apprentice had no idea what herb was which!
"Are...these snowberries...?" She asked, casting an anxious glance at the berry-less plant.
