Although both Willowfrost and Stormytide had been warriors for a bit now, they'd never been on a patrol just the two of them - and certainly not an evening one. There was really no need to be nervous for it - at least, that was what Willowfrost kept telling herself - after all, it wasn't as if they were strangers. They'd come to know each other more and more over the last few moons, sharing a meal or chatting together when time allowed. They'd spoken plenty, so why did tonight feel so different?
That was the thing. Chatting together over a fish in the clearing under the bright noontime sun felt entirely different from patrolling the borders together under the moonlit willows. Besides that, Willowfrost hadn't quite been feeling like herself recently - especially around Stormytide. She wasn't quite sure what was going on with her, but her emotions had been all over the place, which only made the normally awkward feline more so.
But now, there was nowhere to hide. It was just the two of them and despite the coldness of the winter air, there was a noticeable heat to Willowfrost's feathery coat. Taking careful steps along the borderline, Willowfrost shot a glance back at her companion, offering him a grin. "First nighttime patrol together," she purred, swishing her tail lightly in an effort to physically break up the tension. "It's weird, right?" A pause, before Willowfrost continued, spluttering slightly. "I mean, we, uh... we see each other so much, but we've never been on an evening patrol together. It's strange." Willowfrost glanced up at the branches above, wincing at her own poor attempt at conversation. Couldn't she ever hold one, normal, regular conversation? Truly, her and Stormytide were so different - with him being so cool and nonchalant - she couldn't even fathom how they got on as well as they did. After a noticeable pause, she let out a soft breath, her whiskers twitching as she smiled slightly, her voice softer. "It's nice, though."
