Duskpaw Windclan Apprentice Her blue eyes were squinted at the sight of the ginger apprentice, the small molly was watching Russetpaw from the shadows. The young apprentice had certainly made an impression about a couple of days within joining Windclan. The ginger tom was a pretty boy, it certainly caught her off guard when Eaglepaw and Clampaw had introduced her to Russetpaw. Why did those two assume that she wanted to meet him? Duskpaw wanted nothing to do with him. He was talented, handsome and had a perfect smile.. It was disgusting. Letting out a small hum at watching the larger tom for a moment, Duskpaw finally had gotten up and made her way towards the ginger tom. Was this going to be a pleasant interaction? Probably not. Did it seem like a jerk move to have Russetpaw put in place? Yes, it was. “Get out of my way.” Duskpaw grumbled, shoving a nearby warrior out of the way as they were in front of her. Watching Russetpaw and Clampaw interacting, it was sickening that Russetpaw didn’t have to prove himself but was welcomed with open arms while other outsiders had to prove themselves. All because he was the grandson of Wolfstar? Was he even the former Windclan leader’s grandson? Russetpaw didn’t have proof. Appearing in front of Clampaw and Russetpaw, her blue gaze turned towards the gray and white apprentice, her tail lashed “If you would excuse me, I need to speak with our new peer.” Duskpaw said, her tone was relaxed despite the cold appearance that she gave off.
Watching the smaller female looking at her kin before excusing herself quietly. Duskpaw looked towards Russetpaw, observing him. There was something about him that just spoke of trouble.. But she was also curious about the energy that the older apprentice had given off. Leaning towards him and taking a couple of sniffs, the younger apprentice pulled back slightly with her eyes squinting at him “How do we know that you’re the kin of Wolfstar?” She questioned before shaking her head slightly “Everyone buys your story.. But me? Nope.” Duskpaw said, giving him a look. Russetpaw looked very handsome when confused.

Duskpaw
Windclan Apprentice
Letting out a hum, she let out a loud purr before stroking his chest with her paw as she smoothed the fur down. Duskpaw leaned down to rub her cheek against his own, a playful smile appeared on her face. The brown molly was so deeply in love with Russetpaw, and they had only just spoken to each other for the first time. Felines would call them crazy, but to them.. Both of them knew that they were destined for each other. “I love rabbits, along with raspberries as treats.” Duskpaw said, resting her head on his chest and listening to his fast heartbeat. One thing that she adored about Russetpaw, she loved that he got easily flustered and shy around her.
“I’m an only child, both of my parents had unfortunately passed away before I became an apprentice.. But although there’s tragedy, my dream is to have a huge family one day.. I want to have a good amount of babies, and I want to make sure that they’re very much loved by me and you.” Duskpaw said, a bright look appeared on her face. Who knew that this crazy little female was also such a softie inside? Moving the rabbit towards her, she moved slightly away so she could take a bite of the rabbit. Yes, Duskpaw needed to eat so she could have enough energy so she could spend more time with him before the next day would arrive.. Just to spend more time with him!
“While ultimately.. My main goal is to be the best mate towards you in the future, for you to feel nothing but unconditional love.. For you to be happy, content and loved.” Duskpaw said, before moving to press her lips against his cheek before moving to rest her head on his chest. She tightened her grip on his tail with her own, not intending on releasing him anytime soon.. Not that he wanted to be away from her. Pulling to look back at him, she went to caress his cheek with a soft smile on her face “My heart is yours, and nothing will change.” She promised him, before cuddling him in close.
Russetpaw
WindClan Apprentice
The sun was sinking further into the horizon as the two apprentices declared their devotion and slowly shared a rabbit between them, forgetting about everyone else and just focused on one another. Russetpaw had felt out of place here in WindClan so far, despite being surrounded by so much family. And while he didn’t regret joining the Clan, he was glad he at least had someone he could turn to and rely on when he felt his weakest. So far, Duskpaw seemed like she would be perfect for that. She was snippy and had a bite to her, but she appeared caring. And he believed her. Being gullible was something his mother had constantly made him feel bad about, but Russetpaw felt safe in WindClan and around these cats. They wouldn’t cause him harm. Surely not Duskpaw.
She was going to be his forever now.
When Duskpaw placed a kiss to his cheek, his ears grew hot and his tail shot straight up in surprise. His heart must be so close to bursting. Naturally, his head lowered to lightly rub his muzzle to the top of her head as she rubbed against his chest, and he gave a low, rumbling purr from his contentment. “I promise to be devoted to you too. I’ll have your back always. I’ll try and become the best warrior I can be so I can take care of you.” Although, he had a feeling it would be her taking care of him for the most part. He felt safe with her. Amber eyes widening, Russetpaw made an ‘oomph’ sound as he was suddenly pushed to the ground, looking up at Duskpaw's bright and mischievous expression as nuzzled into him. He chuckled and rubbed his muzzle against her cheek. “I don’t want to get rid of you. I promise. And I never go back on a promise,” he said as they cuddled up close. The air was getting colder now that the sun was almost gone, but they were keeping one another warm.
After they adjusted to where their sides were pressed together and the rabbit was forgotten in front of them, Russetpaw purred and pressed his muzzle to her shoulder to breathe her in, blinking in surprise at her statement. “Oh! I think you’re more than pretty. You’re beautiful, Duskpaw.” His ears felt a little warm but she was going to be his soulmate and would have to get used to saying these things out loud. “And we’ll always have breakfast together. Besides, our nests are close to each other, so you’ll be the first one I see and talk to when I wake up.” He turned his head to the rabbit and used a paw to bring it closer, nudging it towards her. “And I’ll be the one to tell you to eat when you haven’t had enough food.” Purring still, he twined her tail with his, glad no one else was around right now. “Food gives energy. I want to know all about you, Duskpaw. I want to know everything.” His amber eyes were bright and stared at her lovingly, his side tingling as it was still pressed up against hers.
Duskpaw
Windclan Apprentice
Squinting her eyes at the dark ginger apprentice, her blue gaze was focused on him. The brown apprentice was fascinated with Russetpaw, obsessed. The smaller molly was looking up at him, a gentle smile appearing on her lips when he declared himself devoted to her. Yes, just as Duskpaw had wanted. While her feathery tail was flicking back and forth in content, a loud purr escaped her before feeling him leaning forward and rubbing his face against her cheek. Ah, Duskpaw was pleased that Russetpaw was so accepting of being claimed by her.. She had been searching for someone like him since her mother in the nursery had told her that one day, she would have someone to love and care for her just as her father did. Darksnake had passed away before Duskpaw was born, and her mother had died during one of Sandadder’s raids.. Duskpaw didn’t have anyone.
But now, Russetpaw would become her home.
Her right paw moved to caress his cheek for a moment, looking at him with such a soft expression. Leaning forward, Duskpaw leaned forward to press her lips against Russetpaw’s cheek and left a lingering kiss. Pulling back, a bright smile appeared on her face before nodding “Russetpaw, I’m devoting myself to you.. I promise to cheer for you on your brightest days, and stay by your side on the darkest days.” Duskpaw said gently, moving to rub her cheek against his chest and bringing him closer for an embrace. Everything around them was tuned out, nothing mattered at that moment to her but Russetpaw. A giggle escaped the molly, before pushing forward and causing the larger tom to suddenly fall over and let out a squeal of happiness as both of them ended up on the ground.
Nuzzling into him, she breathed in his scent. “I’m never leaving you, you’ll have to get rid of me first.” Duskpaw said, scrunching her nose playfully at him. It was such a joyful moment, finding the one feline that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.. Especially, since Russetpaw wanted the same. It was very uncommon, for one claiming another so early on, especially at a first interaction.. But Duskpaw knew that she would grow to have a very loving and healthy relationship with Russetpaw. Moving to cuddle Russetpaw, both of them were purring and rubbing their cheeks together with each other. “Now, since you belong to me.. You’ll have to call me pretty and have breakfast with me every morning.” Duskpaw said, giving him a pointed look and narrowed her eyes. The brown molly was very demanding and cheeky.
Russetpaw
WindClan Apprentice
The intense look Duskpaw gave him made his stomach turn nervously. He had told Clampaw he helped his mother fight off a badger with just the two of them, but his mother had honestly been the only one truly fighting. Could this beautiful she-cat see right through him? He hoped not. Being seen as a poser in her eyes sounded awful to him. With flattened ears and raised brows, Russetpaw felt bashful when she called him handsome, clearing his throat and giving a slight guilty smile. “Well, I may have embellished my story about the badger fight. I did help, and it is where I got my scar.” He turned his body to the side to show the long scar on his right front leg. “But I wasn’t trained properly to know how to really fight. But that’s why I’m here.” He hoped that was enough for her, only wanting to make a good impression.
However, he didn’t think he had to make too good of an impression since she was already claiming him as a mate when they were warriors! His ears grew hot. “You want… me? As a mate?” When she said he belonged to her, he couldn’t help but feel a stutter in his heart. He had only ever wanted to belong. And to have someone so openly claim him felt nice. He liked her spunky personality, feeling it matched his calm demeanor quite well.
So many thoughts were racing through his head that he sat there like a mousebrain who couldn’t see, his amber eyes staring straight ahead as she ate the rabbit. Did he want to be claimed? By Duskpaw? Yes. She was beautiful and she seemed to really like him. The feline was stubborn and hard-headed but that just meant she was determined and a fighter. Something he strived to have and admired in her. And she made him a beautiful nest. A small smile rose on his lips and he chuckled softly as she poked his chest, focusing on her once more and he nodded. “Yes… I… I do. I would like to belong to you, Duskpaw. As long as you belong to me too.” Shyly, he scooted closer to her and pressed his nose to her cheek with a slight purr. “You’ll stick by me? No matter what?” He asked quietly, scared to be left alone again like his mother had done to him. Abandonment was his biggest fear and if he opened his heart to Duskpaw, he was risking that feeling again. But she was worth it.

Her blue eyes were narrowed, watching the bigger male sit down in front of her. The brown molly’s fur fluffed up while releasing a hard huff, before closing her eyes and tilting her face away from him. “Because Russ-o, there’s such things as posers!” Duskpaw said, opening an eye and looking at the other male with an unimpressed look. It wasn’t until her blue eyes looked into his dark amber eyes “Sometimes others tend to come into the clan, making up stories about their glory.. Until it turns out they aren’t that kind.” Duskpaw said. she remembered a kittypet who claimed to be the best hunter! Only to leave in shame once she became a laughing stock. Orion was a different subject, he proved his worth and became a fine warrior.. Duskpaw was almost jealous of Russetpaw’s relationship with the massive Maine coon!
“I think you’re a very handsome tom, and I want to make sure that our fellow den mates didn’t get hurt if you were lying.” Duskpaw said, narrowing her eyes for a moment. The small molly was very protective of her clan mates, they deserved nothing but happiness. Flicking her feathery tail for a moment before pondering “I like you a lot, and I think you’re a suitable male to become mine when we are warriors.” Duskpaw huffed, ignoring his shocked expression. Ah yes, word had been going around that the sweet ginger tom was trying to fit in.. So why not be with her! “You mentioned to your mentor that you wanted to belong in your new home, so you belong to me!” Duskpaw said, lifting her head up in pride.
Yes, Russetpaw belonged to her now. Duskpaw had admired him from afar, since he first came into Windclan. One would think it was a typical crush, but to the brown molly.. It was love at first sight. Getting up for a moment, Duskpaw went towards him and watched him for a moment. Her gaze was focused on him before leaning down to take a bite of the rabbit. Hmph, wouldn’t even offer some of the rabbit. Docking points from the gentleman side. Chewing it slowly, she looked up at him before swallowing it. Duskpaw certainly wasn’t joking when she wanted Russetpaw to be here in the future. “Now I have an important question that will save your life.” Duskpaw said quietly, squinting her eyes at him for a moment before furrowing her eyebrows and poking him in the chest gently with a toe bean “Do you like me?! Yes or no” Duskpaw questioned, awaiting his answer.
Russetpaw
WindClan Apprentice
Little did this she-cat know, Russetpaw had asked Clampaw earlier if she wanted to share a piece of prey with him in the morning as well, wanting to get to know his fellow apprentices and learn more about the ways of Clan life that his mother hadn’t told him. It had been a good way to start the day and Clampaw was friendly enough. But Duskpaw, the feline that started out quite hostile with him, beamed with pure joy when he asked if she would eat something with him, her eyes brightening and tail waving above her, calling him thoughtful and kind. She was so confusing. What was he getting himself into?
Duskpaw bounded out of the apprentices’ den and he had no choice but to follow her, ducking his head as he passed through the entrance and into the clearing, moving around a few other warriors with flattened ears and a respectful dip of his chin before he caught up to Duskpaw, tilting his head with amusement at the way she was attempting to drag a large rabbit out of the way of others. She kept wanting to pull him away from other cats. What was her motive? Did she want to be a friend? Or to kill him? He couldn’t tell yet. Shrugging his shoulders, the more quiet and subtle tom padded after her and smiled softly until she claimed she wanted to be wooed. Wooed? Like…a potential mate? This she-cat was crazy.
But he couldn’t help but smile, his ears getting warm as they flattened at her annoyed huff. “Oh, I’m sorry. You just walked so fast. Um…what priorities?” Russetpaw sat down beside her and blinked when she scooted even closer, her muzzle in his shoulder, his eyes widening slightly. Duskpaw was so forward, which was the absolute opposite of his non-confrontational soul. She mentioned this was a date again and he cleared his throat, glancing around to see if anyone else was seeing this quickly obsessed she-cat, but they were too secluded. “Oh, yes. The nest feels really comfortable. I’m honored you wanted to make one for me,” he said with a smile, his tail flicking behind him, watching her bite into her food with a wary look. “So…you like me now? I thought you thought I was a liar. Don’t get me wrong, I like that you want to be around me. When we first met I thought you seemed really strong and skilled. And you’re pretty too.” Oh StarClan, why did he say that? He stuttered. “Oh, uh, I-I mean like… you just seemed, uh, capable. Like you’re going to be an amazing warrior. But you didn’t seem to care for me much. Until now?” He lowered his head and took a bite from one of the rabbit’s haunches.
Duskpaw
Windclan Apprentice
He was asking her to have dinner with? Russetpaw was absolutely in love with her.
A huge grin appeared on her face as her feathery tail began waving back and forth in excitement. It was so sudden, for someone wanting to court her. Not that Duskpaw was complaining, she thought Russetpaw would be a very good candidate to become her mate and the father of her children.. There was something so dreamy and exciting about him that she needed to have him. “Of course I’ll have dinner with you.. You’re so kind and thoughtful, I wouldn’t expect anything less of you.” Duskpaw purred, moving to rub her cheek against his own. The brown molly couldn’t believe this.. Russetpaw was crazy over her! And she felt the same!
Letting Russetpaw lead her away from the den and into the clearing, a huge grin appeared on her face. This was so nerve wracking! A date! Russetpaw was serious about his crush on her! She would have to tell Clampaw about this later! Letting out a soft hum when they approached the middle of the clearing, she looked at the big rabbit that was there and grabbed it. Despite her small size, Duskpaw began dragging it away and into a seduced place. “Come on! I want to be wooed!” Duskpaw said through the brown fur of the rabbit, her blue eyes were narrowed. What a very cheeky feline!
Moving to sit nearby a small log, she placed the rabbit down and awaited Russetpaw to join. Narrowing her eyes, she let out a huff “About time! You cannot keep a she-cat waiting! We have priorities!” She said. Russetpaw would have to work on his attendance but it was fine, it was only the first date. Although, Russetpaw looked nervous. Letting out a loud purr, she moved to bump her muzzle into his shoulder while her eyes glowed in excitement “Thank you for asking me on a date, I knew my nest making skills would make you impressed with me.” Duskpaw said before leaning down and begin taking a bite out the rabbit, tearing through the meat and didn’t notice the frightened look on his face.
Russetpaw
WindClan Apprentice
The sun’s warmth felt good on Russetpaw’s dark ginger back as he lay outside of the apprentice’s den, his dark amber eyes looking up at Clampaw as they spoke, his expression relaxed and friendly. So far, he had been welcomed greatly by the cats of WindClan, and he felt honored to finally have ‘paw’ at the end of his name to symbolize his training. Many friendly faces have wanted to speak to him, asking about his mother and how she was or where she had gone off to. Not that he truly had any idea. The day he told Willowfur he was going to find WindClan and ask to join was the last day he had seen her. Finding her again seemed like an impossibility at this point, and he had a feeling she wouldn’t want to come back anyways. His first day back, he had heard that Startledcrow and his mother used to be mates and now he was with her sister, his aunt, Heatherpetal. Quite a mess to walk back into anyways, and Willowfur was not an easy feline to get along with.
The gray and white apprentice before him was being kind and asking him questions, sitting up and standing taller than she as he puffed out his chest slightly. “I helped my mom fight off a badger at one point too. It was still young, but it had bloodlust in its eyes. That was the first time I’ve fought anything.” He beamed proudly, his tail flicking high above him. He knew he didn’t have to prove himself since he was already a Clan member now, but he liked the attention he was getting. What young tom wouldn’t? Even if his story was only half true.
Opening his mouth to speak again, he was interrupted when Duskpaw pushed forward with a lashing tail and cold expression, his chest deflating as he exhaled and tilted his head, getting a little nervous now. Clearing his throat, Russetpaw glanced around before his attention was back on Duskpaw, frowning slightly at the sniffs and narrowed gaze he was receiving, her question surprising. “Uh…My mother is Willowfur,” he answered, his ears flattening when she said she didn’t believe him, feeling confused. Why wouldn’t she believe him? “I’m not a liar. I am the grandson of Wolfstar. She told me I have his build too. Broad and tall. And…and I know a lot about him.” He looked between Duskpaw and Clampaw. “I swear I’m not lying.”
