dovebriar
riverclan warrior
the snow growing ever-stronger, dovebriar was growing more concerned with each passing moment. sitting in the clearing, her ears pinned back against her head, the she-cat hissed as a cold breeze rustled her pelt, making her fluff it up against the chill. hearing pawsteps heading toward her, the she-cat flicked her ears and looked over to nettlebreeze when he approached. flicking her tail, somewhat indignantly, she padded toward the lacking fresh-kill pile and picked up a fish. it wasn't more than a couple morsels- with the snow, fishing was more than a little difficult at times.
turning back toward him, her pelt felt a little hot as she realised she had no idea if she was doing the right thing, and if she would be rejected if she asked him to share. maybe he would want his own? maybe he wouldn't want to share with her? her lips curling as she growled, she padded back over to where she had been sat, and crouched down, biting into the fish and casting the occasional glance at the warrior.
if he wanted to, he could come over and ask...but it was clear the she-cat was too awkward to actually ask.

dovebriar made no effort to move away from him, and lay her tail across his back as if she were reciprocating the gesture whilst also trying not to make it weird. she nodded along to his words as she lay her head on her paws, looking up at him with a twitch of her tufted ears.
"that's a good reason... i also think it's nice to see the kits finally get to run around the camp properly, without the snow to keep them stuck in the nursery." a purr rumbled in the white she-cat's throat as she glanced over toward the nursery. she wondered if the other clans had the same feelings about the seasons- it was always hard to think that they were truly were rather similar to each other.
"when it's newleaf at long last, i can't wait to get to go out hunting with you again and not worry about freezing our paws off, and worrying about the rivers being frozen over." she lent up, touching her nose to his cheek with a bashful smile.

When the white feline had gotten closer to him he blinked slightly before he too shuffled closer wrapping his tail around her small frame hoping that perhaps this was okay and definitely won't make this super weird. Turning his head to the side he let his blue hues shift about. He had to relate in some parts of wanting leafbare to be over. Yeah he rarely got cold but he knew that with the warmer elements it would definitely help with a more abundance of prey for the clans once more.
When she had asked what season he had preferred more over the other he had to truly think about it. He didn't mind the others yeah during greenleaf he tend to get rather overheated due to the sun but now that he was in riverclan he had an easier way to stay cooler. "I...I'd have to say newleaf as well... I agree with what you said but I also really like the fact that you get to see everything in full bloom, like a whole rebirth of hope and stuff.."
He softly said a small smile tugging at the corners of his maw. He knew his whole aspect of new leaf could be see as weird but he didn't really mind. He liked it because it was like he was shedding a whole layer off of him, and just the million shades of color around him it just made him rather happy and he tended to get really lost in his head because of it.

the she-cat nodded, her tail curling over herself as she gave a small shiver, fur fluffing up against the cold that came with the snow. at times like this, she had to admit she wished their clan was a bit more sheltered from the elements... trees would surely keep their camp from being absolutely swamped by snow. shifting a little closer to the tom, she took another couple of bites of the fish that lay at her paws.
"i can't wait for leafbare to be over!" she sighed, "newleaf will feel even greater with how snowy and cold it's been... just think of how good we'll be eating!" the she-cat breathed, twitching her whiskers. "i need to know, though... which do you prefer? newleaf or greenleaf?" she asked, tilting her head with genuine interest.
"i think i prefer newleaf, because it's when you see all the baby animals being born, and you know then that prey will be running well as they grow up toward greenleaf. and a good newleaf season means we'll eat even better!"

The tom had listened to what the molly had to say with extreme care nodding slowly as she spoke his ears flickering as he continue to hear her out. He never really went out of his way to try and get an apprentice before, seeing as he was still pretty young he was sure that one day he would have the opportunity to apprentice someone. Based on what the molly had to say he could tell that it was definitely something to look forward too. "That makes sense!! Kind of a sense of family but also not at the same time if that makes sense?" He softly mumbled shuffling his paws a little.
Admittedly he could have easily went to windclan or skyclan even to start his new life away from the cats he tried so hard to impress. But a little someone had drawn him to pick this clan and just the welcoming he had gotten confirmed that he had certainly picked the right clan. Was it silly to pick somewhere because of a pretty molly? Absolutely but there was just something about Dovebriars soft nature that drew him to come and learn more about her as the days wore on.
With his lack of family or what it should be like he never really thought about starting his own personally afraid to be like his parents he just didn't want to run that risk. But if you asked him later down the road he would say yes in a heart beat. Especially if it were someone he truly loved and care for.

dovebriar fluttered her eyes somewhat as she looked almost longingly toward the nursery. it had been flattering enough when after meeting nettlebreeze, the younger tom had left his clan to join riverclan, and now here he was, sharing a meal with her as they stared toward the nursery. she couldn't help the small smile that crept further up her face as her mind wandered.
she thought about having kits often... she knew that she wanted to be a mother. she had experienced mentorship once, but would like to experience it again before having kits, and would like time to develop a growing bond with the tom of her choice. and yet, any cat who saw the way she acted as soon as nettlebreeze was nearby, knew that she would choose him in a heartbeat. she just didn't seem aware of how fond she really was.
"it's so much fun having an apprentice, and it's a big honour. to be able to watch them develop and grow as their own cat, and find their own path with starclan guiding their paws..." a wistful expression crossed her face. "i guess it's kind of like having kits. just without the first six moons of work, and you're not blood related... but the bond between mentors and apprentices can be just as strong." she mewed. her first apprentice had died soon after becoming a warrior, but dovebriar knew she would always be proud of her.
the she-cat had been brave and bright, and she could only be disappointed she hadn't lived longer, and been able to find love and start a family.

It had been a few moons since the tom had joined riverclan, the fact that his family pretty much ghosted him for who knew what reason he had felt the need for a fresh start, something in which he could decide his life and not worry who cared or didn't. He never truly knew why his parents didn't want to talk to him not having really done much but pretty much exist. Which clearly was the wrong thing he could do apparently but he wasn't going to let that weigh himself down anymore.
He felt that riverclan was the best place for him and since meeting Dovebriar at a gathering he just knew he'd have a least someone to chat with within the clan. Smiling warmly the tom took a seat next to her, close enough so he could share his warmth but not close to make it weird. Being blessed with some pretty thick fur the tom was rather overheated despite the cold and the downfall of snow. "I do have to say the walking around moving around will certainly help a lot to keep warm especially with how bad the snow has gotten!" He chirped softly.
"I've never had an apprentice before is it really fun? I'm sure you could always help train with one of the mentors especially if anyones sick! Or you could always practice what you know or find new ways to do things? If that makes sense of course..." He softly added before letting his gaze follow the mollys to the nursery.
"I'm sure with how many kits are being born you'll get another one in no time! You just need to be patient and wait for the right time!" He nudged her gently.

in her moments of hesitation and doubt, wondering if she should have shared with nettlebreeze, she hadn't realised the tom was following along behind her until he spoke. after she sat, she blinked up at him, feeling her pelt growing even hotter as he finally met her eye, ducking her head shyly as she felt herself kneading at the ground with her forepaws. shaking her head at his question, she glanced back up at him with her beautiful amber eyes.
"not really, it's far too cold... the last time i tried to hunt in the river, i thought my paws were going to freeze off!" she gave a mrrrowr, the anxiety noticeable in the twitch of her tail. "but... i suppose freezing paws aren't just something i'm dealing with..."
"i just can't wait to get an apprentice again... it would be nice to be able to teach one of the young cats again." flicking her ears, a warm smile came across her face. she could only dream of snowstar maybe entrusting one of her kits to her, or one of the other kits currently in the nursery...

The tom had decided to go out and hunt for a little while he had the free time to do whatever it was he wanted to do. For once he had a day where he didn't have anything tasked to him normally he had to go out and hunt for awhile or go on the usual hunting patrol as a way for them to try and somewhat have some form of food being brought in. They hadn't had much luck with always keeping things stocked up due to the oil spill that lasted for who knew how long to the start of the snowing season.
He had managed to catch a few fishes on his trip pretty proud of himself he happily marched back into camp and straight to the prey pile as he dropped what he had managed to catch. Thats when he let his gaze wonder around to see who was around and who he could potentially chat with to help pass the time.
That was until his gaze landed on the white feline as she walked away from him, tilting his head to the side his blue hues watched for a moment before he started to follow after, "Dovebriar! How are you love? Keeping warm in the snow?" He chirped softly his ears flickering slightly as he watched her finally catching up to her a warm smile plastered on his face as he took a seat before her his ears flickering.
