Green-leaf was in full swing, the heat coming off of the sun seemed to be coming out in blasts today, not that the Tom minded. Right now it was evaporating the morning dew off of his dark grey fur, eyelids lowered slightly in a soft sigh. Bird chirped in the distance, while the constant buzzing of the bees would be enough to put any elder in a light doze, however he wasn’t there just yet. Despite knowing that he was getting older and Desertstar was strong and mighty in her reign, he was proud. That being said, he knew he would never be leader, there was no need to have such an old man for a leader. Lifting his chin to breathe in the soft scents of Heather and hare, this was home. Perhaps he should retire?
Old man his ass. Pushing himself up from the ground, he began to slink down the hill with a grace of a much younger cat. He wouldn’t be tamed even now. Grunting, scorching amber eyes flashed towards Eveningstorm. “I want another patrol around the pier. I scented a badger that’s been lounging about for a few days. Nip it in the tail.” He ordered, his steely facial expression giving the other warrior little room to come up with an argument. “I’ll get a patrol together.” Eveningstorm grunted softly, his softer amber eyes gleaming with respect as he dipped his head and walked towards the warriors den. Grunting, Hailgaze turned his eyes towards the apprentices den to see three young cats hiding in the shadows. One being his own kit.
Arching a brow, large white paws carried the tall and muscular Tom towards the apprentices den, shoving his muzzle in through the entrance and lightly growling to startle the young cats. “You three shouldn’t be hiding in your nests, out.” He ordered, pulling back as he watched Cottonpaw and his trio trudge out of the den with guilty expressions. Good. He smirked to himself and gave a wave of his tail. “I know of a few elders that are in need of fresh nests and a tick check.”
He grunted while Cottonpaw’s green eyes widened, looking up at his father. “But dad-“ He immediately began to whine but a single arch of Hailgaze’s brow silenced him. “They are waiting.” Hailgaze chimed, watching the three apprentices slink off with their tails between their legs as he smirked.
Leader he may never be, but he could keep this clan in top shape for Desertstar.

Anytime any of his children or even his mate were getting ready for a birth, it made him incredibly nervous. Tinyflame had never been able to have an easy birth despite having fairly easy pregnancies. Gazing at his daughter currently, he felt his chest prickle with that same anxiety. “When these kits finally arrive, you’ll understand my worries.” Hailgaze grunted softly, eyes narrowing as he looked towards her swollen belly. He knew of the dynamic of his daughter’s love life, Goldensun was the actual sire of his grandkids. Which he approved, Eveningstorm and Startledcrow’s bloodline was strong and healthy. Highly respected within the clan, he was proud to be a grandparent along side Eveningstorm and Desertstorm. Although he wasn’t incredibly fond of Appleblossom, she was a formidable warrior. Passing every test he threw her way.
“I believe I didn’t even let you get away with your little tricks.” Hailgaze reminded his daughter, taking a light swat at her ears before he found himself chuckling with amusement. “Airheart… of course everyone is nervous. Even myself.” He said softly as he leaned down to gently press his nose against her forehead. “But I know that your mother will be there with you to ensure this delivery is blessed.” He promised softly, leaning back to gaze down at his daughter. Every single kit he had was precious and strong in their own way. Hesitating slightly he grunted softly as his long feather tail covered his large paws. “Speaking of kits… Blackfire is expecting another litter.” He purred proudly.

"Daaaaaad, I'm fine!" She whined as her father herded her back to the nursery, insistent that there was no need for Hailgaze to guide her back to her nest for rest. "Littlewoods says that I'm healthy and strong and he expects a smooth and easy delivery. There's no reason to worry." A line she had been saying several times these last few days. Appleblossom and Goldensun were restless, too. Her kits would be born literally any day now and their nerves were high with that understanding. Airheart felt like she was the only one who wasn't worried about her own pregnancy.
When Hailgaze referred to her siblings, the cream warrior's whiskers twitched with laughter. "They're not so bad," she argued gently, "they're just being kids. Let them enjoy being carefree while they still can." As she sat down with her father, she chuckled again at his inquiry. "Actually, I think I'm the only one who's not nervous!" She exclaimed. "I think the only cat more nervous than my mates is Dayfall. He comes by the nursery every day to make sure I'm eating enough and that they're taking care of me."
Airheart had been exasperated over her family's overprotectedness, but she stopped and sighed softly. "Though, I guess I can't blame him. He's probably nervous after mom had a tough birth with me and Wolfflame. I'm sure he thinks about her when he looks at us and the thought of me giving birth makes him just as nervous, too." She glanced up at her father, catching his eyes. "But I have a good feeling. I think we're going to be blessed by StarClan."

Not even his own kittens were free from his ever careful eye, watching Cottonpaw and Redpaw as they finally hurried off to the elders den. If they wanted to sit around and get out of duties, he would surely put them to work. Nostrils flaring as he let out a grunt before feeling a light bump against his shoulder. Amber eyes side eyeing his daughter before he let out a soft purr and turned his chin in order to rasp his tongue over her light colored ears. “Airheart, how’re you feeling?” He meowed softly; turning his body in order to look over his daughter’s swollen stomach. Within her belly was furthering the Wolfstar line, his first ever grandkids.
Grunting, the tomcat was beginning to lightly herd his daughter back towards the nursery, wanting to keep her out of the hot sun before he grunted and glanced towards the elders den. “Things are going to smoothly. But those siblings of yours, I’m going to skin them.” Hailgaze growled lightly, although he was fond of his youngest litter but he looked back towards his daughter and chuckled. “Soon you’ll understand what I mean.” Tail brushing against her hip as he sat down. “Getting nervous?”

The queen was resting in the open sun, enjoying the warmth of the sun's rays basking down upon her pelt. Her swollen belly rose and fell gently with her relaxed, slow breathing. Her eyes shut and her paws tucked under her chest, Airheart was taking in the comfort of her surroundings, including the soft breeze of WindClan's open camp.
A familiar voice caught her attention- her tattered ear flicked and she opened her eyes to the sight of her father, Hailgaze, assigning duties for the day. And, of course, scolding his troublemaker kits. She couldn't help the smirk that tugged her lips at the sight of it. The pregnant warrior slowly got to her paws and made her way over to the senior warrior. When she reached his side, she bumped his shoulder with her forehead.
"Hey dad," She purred, happy to have a second to stop by and catch him before the day got too busy. "How are things going today?"
