Darkcloud & Dappleleaf
With the sun high above the treetops, and the birds chirps echoing lightly through the forest, one particular tom-cat had decided that it was the perfect time to go hunting. He had left around sun high, and was he glad he did too! Stalking back into the camp clearing, the large black cat took in a deep breath of air, releasing it slowly between his mouthful of prey. Within his jaws were two mice. A little scrawny for his own liking, but would do nicely for a growing kit or hungry apprentice. Upon his back though was a plump rabbit, and it was something he was looking forward to sharing with someone. He was unsure of who at the moment though, even as his yellow oculars gazed around the clearing. With a flick of his ears, he would lay them flat upon his cranium before striding towards the kill-pile. Within moments, he was setting his mice atop of it, lowering himself to the ground to gently roll the rabbit off of his back in the process. As it thumped upon the ground beside him, he picked it up quickly in his mouth.
Another flick of his gaze around the clearing, and he would spot Dappleleaf nearby. Had she been out today already as well? Or was she waiting for a duty to be given to her? He had no clue, but he wanted to get to her before she got too busy. He knew he needed to attempt to make some new friends, so why not attempt with a she-cat? A sudden feeling of nervousness washed over him though as he took a step towards her, causing him to recoil due to his thoughts. 'What if I scare her? Would she even want to be friends?' He was brought back after a few heartbeats, his vision slightly blurry due to him squeezing his eyes shut. With a mental shake of his head, he fought his thoughts and moved towards the she-cat. When he was near, he would simply tilt his head at her, and glance down at the rabbit he was holding. He was too scared to speak at the moment, but would if he really needed to. Patiently, he would wait to see if she would understand what he was asking.
“Oh!” Dappleleaf blurted out, sound pleasantly surprised, she and Darkcloud weren’t close by any means. Sure, they were clanmates and had known one another for quite some time. Yet, they hadn’t really made a connection with one another. So, when Darkcloud caught her attention by silently offering to share his prey, she was shocked but not opposed to the idea.
“Darkcloud, why isn't this a lovely little surprise?” She flashed him a smile that could rival the radiance of the sun’s rays. Her stomach slightly rumbled as the scent of the rabbit filled her nose, it was delightful, to tell the truth.
“Are you offering me to join you for a meal? You know, I actually haven’t ever had rabbit before. Though, it smells absolutely wonderful.” She moved closer to the tom so she could settle into a sit beside him,
“I only just got back from patrol myself, not even a few minutes ago. I was debating on what I should have, aren’t I lucky you gave me a fine new suggestion.” She curled her large and fluffy tail around her paws.
“What a gentletom you are, thank you darling it is most appreciated. Why don’t you have the first bites, consider it your right of passage for catching it and a most sincere thank you from me for offering to share.”
