Aspenwood
Shadowclan Warrior
Grumbling to himself, Aspenwood’s orange eyes were narrowed. The apprentices were extra rowdy today, he didn’t understand why… Well of course he knew, they were in a new territory.. The youngsters were excited about a new start. Letting out a small sigh through his nostrils, Aspenwood couldn't help but feel a bit of depression as of lately.. He had to leave Juncostar and Mercuryrose behind. The he dark tabby knew that Ravenstar was secretly carrying that grief as well, but the Shadowclan leader couldn’t openly grieve about that, instead looking after his clan.
“Greenpaw, stay away from the water.” Aspenwood called over, watching the young apprentice playing with Redpaw and a couple of others. The young tom had been on high alert since that patrol discovered the deceased deer. Who knew where the predator was residing.. Either underground or in the water.. It lived somewhere. Aspenwood kept walking, feeling slightly anxious. The tom felt like something was watching them, something was definitely off. A soft hiss was heard and it caused Aspenwood to look around
“Stop!” Aspenwood ordered, turning around and searching frantically.. Suddenly, a couple of cracks were heard along with a shriek of surprise coming from Greenpaw.. Aspenwood looked towards the direction of the young apprentice’s paws.. Did he just step on eggs?

Shadowclan Warrior
His ears perked at the sound of a loud hiss surronding the area. Frantically looking around, Aspenwood suddenly saw a pair of amber eyes coming from the water. Squinting his eyes closer, Aspenwood’s orange gaze stared at the creature’s before its stare suddenly went towards the young apprentices.
The apprentices!
“No!” Aspenwood shouted before shooting forward, his paw digging into Soulpaw’s hind leg and dragging the young apprentice back from the shore. At the same time, a large lizard shot out of the water and the sounds of screams from Greenpaw and Redpaw echoed from the clearing.
Watching in horror, Aspenwood looked on helplessly as the large jaws clasped around Redpaw’s neck, instantly killing her. Greenpaw was screaming for help, her bottom half was trapped in the gator’s mouth while Redpaw’s lifeless body was still on the other side of the jaw.
“Retreat now!” Aspenwood yelled, shoving Soulpaw forward to run, they needed to escape
Soulpaw
Shadowclan apprentice
Soulpaw’s amber eyes rested half-lidded as she trotted tiredly to keep up with the rest of the group. She had spent much of the night tossing and turning rather than getting any real sleep, mainly because of the tension in the clan caused by the deer corpse, not to mention Woolypaw’s strange omen. Beware the water… How ridiculous! They weren’t Riverclan cats, after all, of course they were going to avoid the water. Still, her trust in Starclan was unwavering, and she felt inclined to believe the little medicine cat apprentice. Besides, they’d been denmates in the nursery, and Woolypaw didn’t seem the type to make up stories for fun.
Soulpaw tried not to let the other apprentice’s disorderly behavior distract her from walking a straight path. She looked at Greenpaw with a sideward glance as the young tom giggled and played around with Redpaw. She didn’t want to come across as the boring one who never wanted to play, but she couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of secondhand embarrassment. Didn’t these two realize that being out on a patrol was no time for kit-play? Her ears pricked and turned towards the sound as the eggs cracked beneath Greenpaw’s careless paws. Soulpaw cringed and looked away. So embarrassing.
