The fluffy white-and gray molly inhaled and exhaled shakily as the rushing waves of rolling pain began to ebb away, as she finally birthed the last of her kits. The young molly had given birth to three little kits, they were rather petite, having come earlier and far more swiftly than she ever would have expected. Fortunately, they were merely a week or so early, therefore any complications they might face would be mild and non-life threatening. It might make them more susceptible to mild sickness and such, but other than that they were healthy and brimming with life.
Snowdove reached down and began to gently lap at the damp fur of her little tom, the last to be born, to clean him up and get him dry and warm alongside his siblings. The newest Queen of the nursery felt her heart skip aching beats within her chest as she stared at the little tom, she couldn't help but see his father in him. She missed the tom that had helped her through her ordeal. Though they had mated by no choice of their own, she still cared for him. Yet he had stayed behind because he believed that he would be unable to survive the trek and living in the wild after.
Therefore, Snowdove reluctantly said her farewells to him and started out on a lone journey after he had taken her halfway. Though having been sans a leg, she had made it back to Windclan just in time. No one else had been present for the birth of the kits, aside from the other Queens and the Medicine Cat. Snowdove had gone into labor very early in the morning, and most of her kin and her clanmates had been asleep.
She didn't wake them because there was no time. The kits were coming fast and therefore she had no choice but to ask another Queen to fetch Quiethawk. Her first two kits, the she-kits, had come fast, though the tom had taken his sweet time. She had started to fret for her last kit when it took so long for him to come, but now that he was finally here- she could rest easy knowing all was well.
"Oh!"
A meow of surprise caught Snowdove's attention and she turned her head towards the nursery entrance just in time to see a piece of prey flop to the ground after it had fallen out of cream-and-orange she-cat's mouth. A soft smile spread itself across her maw as she regarded her young sibling Poppyblaze. It wasn't a shock that Poppyblaze was already up and about, the feisty she-cat was an early riser, much more than most.
"Poppyblaze! I've had my kits, there are three of them, aren't they just beautiful?" Snowdove breathed out, her chest warm and fuzzy with a love she had never known before. "Go on and get everyone, so they can see the newest members of our kin."
Poppyblaze nodded, beaming as she picked up the piece of prey and dashed over to Snowdove to place it next to her nest. She then leaned down and lightly tapped one of the kits against their little head with her nose, "They're perfect, sister. Wait here, I'll be back in a blaze!~" She turned away and bolted out of the Nursery and headed to the Warrior's den.
Once she arrived in the den, she called out for Goldenrose, "Mom! Mom wake up! Get everyone else, Snowdove kitted!~"

She was smiling softly as she looked down at the little newborns, letting out a soft hum before she turned her chin to lightly rasp her tongue over the back of Snowdove’s head. Her daughter had done such a good job giving birth to her first litter, smiling gently as she pressed the side of her muzzle against the side of her daughters head. “You did such a great job.” Goldenrose hummed lightly, her green eyes laid upon her new grandkits, purring softly at the sight of them. Goldenrose adored kittens. “Of course, you won’t. I think you are stronger than you’ve ever been.” She said softly, her eyes briefly roaming towards the vacant space of Snowdove’s missing hind leg.
Eyes turned down towards the little cream and white kit, smiling softly to learn the little darling was a Molly. “Mothkit.” She said softly, gaze softening as her eyes then turned towards the dark grey and white little she-kit. “Mistkit.” She purred, echoing the names of her grandkits with fondness as she looked down at a dusty brown tom with dark brown and black specks all along his flank. “Gorsekit.. you’ve truly chosen perfect names.” Goldenrose smiled. Eyes lifted towards Poppyblaze as her daughter promised to look after them. Ears twitching as she gave her child a soft smile before looking down at the kittens. “They have one of the best aunts looking after them.” Goldenrose purred, turning her chin to gently kiss her daughters ear. “Congratulations Snowdove, they are simply beautiful.” She purred.

A purr tumbled throughout Snowdove's chest, as she slowly leaned into her mother's touch. The white and gray coated queen lifted up her gaze, that shimmered with what seemed to be the light of a dozen stars, as a soft simper stretched itself across her maw. Though it was slightly tainted with a tinge of exhaustion, it beamed as brightly as the sun itself.
She was practically glowing with the love and pride of a new mother. She had always wondered what it would be like to kit, though she had never seen it within her future... yet something felt right about this turn of events in her life. Though she didn't think she would ever kit again after this, she wasn't opposed to having at least one litter. Especially given the fact that this particular litter belonged to a tom with a heart of gold, her best friend she had to leave behind, and hoped and prayed to Starclan was doing well for himself.
"I won't lie I am positively drained, mother- yet I am equally as delighted. I haven't had my kits for but a few moments now and yet, already I love them with all of my heart and more. I will do anything for my little ones. Seeing how small and vulnerable they are, it has reignited my passion to protect them despite the fact I only have three sets of claws with which to do so."
She flicked her gaze over her shoulder to stare down at the empty space where one of her hind legs used to occupy.
"I won't let my lack of a leg prevent me from protecting them as I should."
With that she turned her head back towards her kits and began licking at the little cream and white she-kit's head to soothe her mewling.
"I have, yes. I've birthed two beautiful mollies and a handsome tom. This one here is a molly, her name is Mothkit," she gestured with her tail to the cream and white kit. Then flicked her tail towards the dark gray and white kit," this is Mistkit- also a molly, and..." She gestured to her last kit, the tom.
He was a dusty brown kit with dark mud brown and black specks.
"This is my tom, Gorsekit."
Poppyblaze gazed intently at the kittens, she couldn't believe she was blessed with such beautiful nieces and a handsome nephew. She wondered if she'd ever work up the courage to ask Lemonpaw to be her mate, and if so... would they have kits through a surrogate tom that would agree? Was such a thing as motherhood in her future?
"They're such darling little things, Snowdove. I promise that I shall be the best aunt to your precious bundles of joy. I won't make the same mistakes as I did in my apprenticeship and keep these little ones safe and sound. I won't let what happened with us ever happen to them."

Goldenrose loved her sleep, if she didn’t get the correct amount she was an absolute Bear throughout the day. Curled up against the stomach of a massive black tomcat, her nose was delicately tucked under a rose gold colored paw. Ears twitched as she heard a disturbance, annoyance bubbling within her chest as she tried to ignore whoever was calling her name, but the onslaught continued. Starclan, if I hear my name one more time. She thought sourly to herself, lifting her paw to slam it down against the moss nest. Head lifting as her angered green eyes sought out her daughter, Poppyblaze. Baring her teeth slightly as the tip of her feathery tail twitched. “What Poppyblaze?” She hisses through clenched teeth. However, the moment Snowdove had kitted was mentioned, the molly was moving as her feathery tail lightly slapped Cometchaser in the face. “Get up.” She huffed.
Slinking from the den, she gave a quick shake of her pelt as her eyes lifted towards the sky. The sun hadn’t even broke over the hills, lips pressing together in mock annoyance. Her grandkits just had to pick the early morning to arrive. Quickly the white and rose gold dappled she-cat slipped into the nursery, her vibrant green eyes finding her daughter with three wee kittens wiggling and mewling softly at her belly. “My, my.” Goldenrose hummed. Snowdove was not her biological daughter, but ever since she had been an apprentice, the warrior had taken the little molly under her wing. Purring softly, she looked down at the three small newborns before she hummed softly and moved towards her daughter. “They are beautiful, Snowdove. How are you feeling, love?” She asked, rasping her tongue over her child’s ears. Kitting was an exhausting task, purring as she gently rubbed her daughters cheek before looking back down at her new grandkits. “Have you thought of names yet?” She asked, peering at the little wiggle worms.
