littlewoods
windclan medicine cat
"Don't go running around on that leg yet, okay?" the small medicine cat called over his shoulder as he left Lavenderpaw in the clearing. The apprentice had sprained her paw chasing a rabbit, and had limped back into camp nearly in tears. It was one of those times where he was concerned by how... dramatic some cats could be. Whenever he wanted to do something, without a doubt, some cat would appear from nowhere and interrupt his flow. It was fine, he told himself, as frustrating as it could be.
Padding through the snow that covered the Windclan camp, he picked up the bundle of herbs he had left when Lavenderpaw had bound up to him and insisted he treat her sprained paw. Then, the little tom approached the nursery.
Right, now I can get back to what I was doing... Littlewoods thought to himself. Pushing his way into the nursery, he flicked his ears. "Heatherpetal?" He called in, fluffy tail brushing against the white flakes that covered the ground. "I've come to give you a checkup!" Entering fully, the medicine cat flicked his tail as he curled it over his paws. "How do you feel today? How are the kits faring?"

the apprentice-sized tom waved his fluffy tail in greeting as he entered the nursery, for once feeling a sense of gratitude that he was smaller, and didn't crowd it so much. he sat back, allowing his patient to get up in her own time. in his experience so far, he had trained as much and as hard as he could to allow startledcrow to retire from his medicine cat duties without leaving the clan in a bad spot. speaking of startledcrow, littlewoods flicked his ears when heatherpetal mentioned that he would be displeased as he felt around her stomach.
"if startledcrow doubts my abilities as a medicine cat, he can come and tell me himself." the tom replied casually, a minimal bite to his words. in all honesty- it was frustrating to think that windclan's former medicine cat would try and put himself between heatherpetal and himself. "although, i do understand his anxiety... bringing kits into the world is always an exciting time." the tom felt at the sides of her stomach, giving a nod of approval.
"everything is feeling perfect so far." he commented, padding back to his herbs. her question made him consider, and he thoughtfully mulled over his response.
"exciting and nervous is a good way to phrase it." he mewed, "i always knew i wasn't cut out to be a fighter. that was... always wolfleap's thing, instead of mine." a forlorn expression crossed the medicine cat's face briefly, before it vanished as soon as it had arrived. "i am just grateful that starclan chose me."

Heatherpetal
Windclan Queen
Her breathing was soft, her pelt rising and falling slowly as the molly was resting after taking a stroll with her mate throughout the camp. Startledcrow was very involved within Heatherpetal’s pregnancy, the former medicine cat always checking up on her from the moment of waking up to falling asleep. Her periwinkle eyes opened slightly when feeling movement from large swollen stomach, her feathery tail moving to rest on the side of her rounded stomach as Heatherpetal released a small purr. The rose-gold molly adored her unborn kits, they hadn’t even met but the mother-to-be felt such unconditional love towards her babies. Both of their families had been extremely supportive, Goldenrose and Hailgaze helping the most with preparing herself for the arrival of her kits.
Although Heatherpetal had been feeling slightly nauseous these past few days, her mate had taken notice and taken extreme care of her and instructed her to take it easy and rest. Usually Startledcrow and Heatherpetal were attached to the hip, but currently the former medicine cat was outside of camp with his two siblings as they were having a ‘family evening’ as Eveningstorm and Blackfire called it. She encouraged her mate to go out with the two warriors as they had missed their younger brother terribly when the dark tabby was in the mountains to help Grizzly’s group. The small molly’s ears perked up slightly at the sound of pawsteps entering the nursery before pausing for a moment and making their way towards Heatherpetal’s nest. Opening her eyes, she noticed that it was Littlewoods and a small smile formed on her lips. The pregnant molly had heard about the new medicine cat from Hailgaze, the Windclan deputy was quite an observer and taught his little sister to watch everything and everyone carefully.
“Hello Littlewoods.” The rose-gold molly said softly, watching the small medicine cat carefully as he had a bundle of herbs with him. Ah yes, he was doing a check up. Did Startledcrow put him up to this? Probably not. Nodding at his words, a quiet yawn escaped her and the heavily pregnant molly had stretched her hind legs before carefully moving to sit up. Heatherpetal already knew the deal, get up and let the nice medicine cat poke your stomach and see how Mama was doing. Although Heatherpetal felt slightly uneasy that it was Littlewoods that was checking up on her and not Startledcrow, it felt almost wrong. Was her mate okay? Her bright blue eyes saw Hailgaze at the corner of her eye, watching his little sister as well while he was playing with Airkit and Wolfkit.
“I will warn you, Startledcrow is not going to be exactly pleased whenever he returns.. Crow is quite a protective male.” The small rose-gold molly said quietly to the small medicine cat who was feeling her stomach. A small chuckle escaped her and shook her head slightly. “Just the usual morning sickness, the swelling ankles have gone down a lot.” Heatherpetal meowed, turning to look at the newly named medicine cat and dipped her head. “How’s the adjustment going as a new medicine cat? It must be an exciting but nervous journey.” She questioned, generally wanting to know Littlewoods’ answer. Stars, she had a dream once of becoming a medicine cat one night.. After that, Heatherpetal never wanted to become one because she had to treat Timberhawk in that dream.. Her cheeky and mischievous brother.. She loves him dearly.
