Venompaw
Venompaw couldn't help but fidget awkwardly as Rainysky chatted away with SkyClan's new medicine cat, Ceruleansky. A look of relief crossed their face when their mentor finally introduced them and explained that they weren't a big talker. The black tabby waved their tail in greeting and dipped their head respectfully when they were acknowledged by the SkyClanners. As Rainysky explained the reason for their visit, something about wanting to check in on how the new medicine cats were doing, Venompaw couldn't help but tune out a bit, since the topic didn't really involve them and they were in a new and interesting place. They weren't sure how long they hadn't been paying attention when suddenly Rainysky nudged them and said their name. Were they going back to camp? Unfortunately not. Their face fell a bit when the silver tabby asked them to accompany Ceruleansky's apprentice out into SkyClan territory to peel some bark off a particular tree that grows near the ShadowClan border. The bark of an alder tree helped tooth aches, how interesting. Venompaw didn't understand why they were being sent too. Why did they need to go with the other apprentice? Why couldn't they all go together? As usual, no matter how hard they tried to speak their mind, nothing would come out.
And that's how they ended up walking through a strange, wooded territory with a she-cat that they knew literally nothing about besides her name. It was mortifying to say the least, and from the awkward silence between them, it seemed that Laurelpaw wasn't exactly thrilled about their little mission, either. The she-cat seemed... tense, like she didn't even want to be there at all. Venompaw just hoped they could get what they were after and get back to their mentors before this she-cat bit their head off or something. They opened their mouth to try to break the silence between them and Laurelpaw, but their nerves wouldn't allow a sound to pass through, so, to avoid looking like a fool, they simply shut their mouth and looked around at the trees as they walked, trying to spot the particular tree they were after.

The small mollys ears folded back against her skull as she continued to hear the other out her heart ached a little for them. She was rather lucky to have some loving parents and some awesome siblings. Despite her little pity party about becoming an apprenticeship the molly had people she knew she could always go too if she so needed to. Where as this feline wasn't so lucky. Laurelpaws lips frowned a little as she casted her gaze off to the side. "Well they're missing out on a very talented feline, how silly of them!" She huffed slightly as she paused in front of the alder tree.
Laurelpaw glanced over at them for a moment her tail twitching slightly as she frowned a little bit, "To give you the shorts of the story just shy of my apprentice ship some friends and I had gotten into some trouble and I managed to twist my paw pretty good... It was when Speckledmoss and Opalsky were still the medicine cats." She calmly stated trying her hardest to not let her anger filter into her voice. She wasn't sure as to why she had to end up in the situation she was in currently, the previous rankees were well okay and still around for the most part. And there she was getting the short end of it all.
It made her furious and rather hateful for a lot of things. Anytime she was stuck inside the den the more she wished the earth below her would just open up and swallow her whole. She hated every second of her daily life, yet with this feline doing the silly little task she had too anyways made it rather bareable. It was as if they just clicked with her for who knew what real reason. "It's alright love I can help out. Might as well get use to the paw thing !" She joked softly a little smile tugging the corner of her lips.
Venompaw sighed softly when Laurelpaw questioned them. "No, not alone," they began, tail twitching. "I was delivered by the leader of my colony... and my mother." Their ears pinned back to his head. "I barely even got to say goodbye to my family... my mother was a wreck, but the leader of my colony didn't seem to care." An angry look crossed the dark feline's face, but it faded quickly as they sighed once more. "Nothing to be done now, I suppose. I'm here, and they're... very far away."
They paused as their companion began to speak, listening quietly to her words. Their ears heated up a bit when she complimented them. They didn't receive compliments very often. "O-Oh, thank you," they murmured, dipping their head graciously. "You seem nice too, Laurelpaw." When she suggested that they chat more and see if the medicine cat thing worked out, a small smile made its way onto Venompaw's face. "I'd like that," they said gently, a small purr rumbling in their throat. They weren't sure why, but opening up to Laurelpaw was so... easy. Maybe it was because she seemed to understand them.
They walked together quietly for a bit longer, and Venompaw noticed that Laurelpaw's limp had gotten a bit worse. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your paw?" They asked, gesturing to the paw in question. Upon asking the question, though, they realized that they had arrived at their destination; an alder tree. "If you're in too much pain,I can collect the bark while you rest a bit," they offered, using their tail to point out a nice, sunny spot nearby.

The molly paused for a moment as she listened to the soft spoken feline a small frown slowly shifted over her facial features. Hearing how the feline had to come here without even the chance to object made her rather sad. Ears folding back slightly the molly shifted her gaze off to the side. "Did you travel alone...?" She asked softly her whiskers quivering slightly as she a waited for their response.
There wasn't much of a good reason for Laurelpaw to have been chosen to be medicine cat apprentice despite the fact that Opalpaw had spent the last several moons being one learning just about everything and anything she had managed. Yet some unknown forces decided that Opalpaw wasn't what they were looking for, that for some unknown reason she was fated the moment she was born. The tanned molly simply hated the idea of being one but didn't stand a chance to object about that notion. Yet the feline beside her really truly didn't have the chance to live their own life and was forced away from the cats they called a family. It made her heart completely and utterly ache for them.
"Well I'm glad you were accepted you seem like a really sweet cat and have a lot of potential, and admittedly I'm not sure what all a Medicine cat is but its certainly not something I want to do with my life... I'm not sure if its because I hurt my paw a few moons before becoming an apprentice or something else but I don't really stand a chance to object against it.... perhaps we could chat more and see how things turn out down the road with the whole medicine cat thing?" She asked softly tilting her head to the side before she brushed against the other apprentice.
Despite the constant ache she felt in her paw she just couldn't stay still for long and had the need to move around before she bore herself to death. Perhaps they could hang out by the trees they needed to gather herbs from for awhile before returning. Clearly their mentors weren't too worried about sending them out alone so she was sure she could find a way to make an excuse if they were to get in trouble for some silly reason.
When Laurelpaw asked if they knew why they had been sent out alone, Venompaw simply shrugged. They'd heard as much of the conversation between their mentors as the other apprentice had, after all. It did seem a bit careless, honestly. After all, Venompaw couldn't help but notice that Laurelpaw had a limp. She wouldn't be able to run if something started chasing them. They wondered if the limp was why she had been forced to become a medicine cat. If that was the case, it didn't seem very fair.
They listened quietly as the she-cat began to vent, occasionally nodding along to show that they were paying attention to her words. Eventually, something she said seemed to strike a cord with the dark tabby, as their facial expression suddenly shifted and they appeared dejected. Their whiskers twitched and for a moment, it was obvious that the gears in their head were turning. And then suddenly...
"I... understand." Venompaw's voice was like that of a spirit. Quiet, wavering. It clearly hadn't seen much use for the entirety of the apprentice's short existence. "My colony didn't want me, so they sent me here." Their ears folded back and they looked down at the ground. "I barely even know what a medicine cat is, but I didn't have a choice. I was only accepted because Rainysky dreamed of my arrival." The young feline sighed heavily, stopping to smack a pebble off the path and into the forest. This was the most they'd ever spoken to a stranger, but something about Laurelpaw's relatable frustration made it easier on them. It was nice to know they weren't the only one on a path they didn't want to be on.

It hadn't been long since the molly had officially become an apprentice, the very moment she had spent so long just thinking about. Her brain racking through any and all warriors that could possibly mentor her, she was excited and could hardly sleep the night before yet with her luck her one thing she spent so much time just thinking about came to a complete and utter halt. Not only was she not going to be a warrior anymore the cat that was to mentor her shortly left leaving her with some random cat that had stopped by. Talk about adding salt to the wound. She was furious, with the choice and resented not only the leader but whoever this group of cats she couldn't even see.
Why had she been picked to be a medicine cat when there was already someone who was in training and actively in camp to this day? Heck she was helping Cherryblossom help her train before her actual mentor decided to come out. Tail lashing back and forward the molly stared coldly at the small group before her, her tail lashing back and forward as she listens to them drawn on. When ceruleansky and rainysky had decided to make them go out to fetch some alder from a tree. Why exactly they had to go alone was beyond her. letting out a loud sigh she turned and started to limp out of the camp her paw still injured from her playing with Nightkit and Daykit not so long ago.
The walk out was rather quiet and awkward, at first she hadn't even paid any attention to the feline but the more they walked the more she had an itch to see who the quiet apprentice was all about. Glancing over to them she just stared for a moment before saying, "Do you know why they're making us go out by ourselves? Honestly I find it rather silly seeing as I just became an apprentice. Rather stupid honestly." She started off her voice was forced and rather cold.
The whole aspect of being a medicine cat just royally made her upset and no matter how much she tried to think differently or listening to what her friend Cosmopaw had to say she just didn't find any of it fair. "You know I really don't want to be a medicine cat. But some unknown cats just decided Oh she's the one she has too. Even better my original mentor decided to peace out!" She softly complained her ears pulling back against her head.
