Ravenstar
Shadowclan Leader
It was something a long time coming.
Lilyfall and Ravenstar had slipped out of camp once nightfall had approached, the black tom had a million thoughts going through his head, but this was the right decision that was being made. It was many seasons in the making, he kept her waiting long enough. The black tom watched carefully around the area, ensuring they weren’t being followed by anyone else.. Flintmask and Wildflower were already at the spot, hiding to witness the special moment.
The leader had been nervous to ask for Lilyfall’s mother and brother for their blessing, but they happily accepted. Lilyfall had been inlove with Ravenstar since they had been kits, with Ravenstar being a little hard to get but alas, he had returned her feelings as well. However, due to rising to leadership so unexpectedly, it had delayed Ravenstar popping the question. He half-expected for her to finally give up, but the girl who waited stayed by his side to support him through it all.
Once Ravenstar and Lilyfall had made it to the lake, the moonlight was causing the water to reflect that it shined a bit. The stars were out and a gentle breeze went through his longer fur. The two of them sat there for a moment in silence before Ravenstar looked over at Lilyfall with a soft expression, something that was extremely rare. “Thank you” Ravenstar breathed before leaning to kiss her forehead “Thank you for always being so understanding, putting up with.. This.” Ravenstar gestured to himself
“Thank you for being so patient, never complaining or whining whenever I had to do with something and had to leave you the last second, Thank you for taking care of my family.” Ravenstar began before looking forward and watching Wildflower and Flintmask peaking out of a nearby bush, watching them. “Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me, in the past, in the present and the future” Ravenstar said with a small smile. Clearing his throat, he closed his eyes.
“I’ve been wanting to ask you this question for a while.. For the girl who waited long enough, will you become my mate?” Ravenstar questioned, a pile of leaves were nearby and his large paw went towards it to drag an item towards them. It was a beautiful emerald stone that matched her eyes perfectly. Lilyfall’s family members creeped out of their hiding spot to witness the special moment.. Her mother, Wildflower, had tears in her eyes with a soft smile as she was witnessing the moment.

Ears twitched with the soft evening song of the crickets song, small cranium tilting slight as her soft green eyes tried to catch sight of the little brown-green insects. Holding her fluffy silver and white tabby striped tail high so that she could feel the scratch of the low hanging needles brushing against her fur and getting the loose strands out without her intervention. Tonight Ravenstar had asked for a walk, which was a more than welcome reprieve away from the hectic life style they had now adopted since his rise into the leadership role. Not that she ever complained, she never would. Instead she was more than proud of him, he had worked so hard for this and it was obvious how proud his father, Mintstrike, was of his hard work.
Glancing sideways as her lover, she noted that he was being quieter more than his usual. Ravenstar was a naturally quiet tomcat but something seemed off about him tonight. Probably all the stress he’s been under. She mused to herself as she stepped closer into his side, her pelt meshing with his as she gave a soft and quiet comforting purr. Unknown to her that he was stressing over the proposal he was going over and over in his mind. Whiskers twitched as they stepped out from the security of the pine forest, her nostrils flaring as she breathed in the change of scents. Hints of sweet grass and lavender assaulted her scent glands, resulting in a small sneeze as she followed Ravenstar down towards the water.
Tonight was particularly beautiful, the moon was rising high in the dark night sky, not quite full but it was enough to illuminate the dark with its beauty. Glancing down at the water, she smiled to herself as she mostly watched the reflection of Ravenstar. He had grown into such a tall and well fitted leader, so much different from the scrawny kit she had laid claim to. Left ear twitched at the sound of his deep voice, turning her chin towards him as she arched a thin brow in confusion. For? She almost voiced before his lips touched her forehead. Silver and white fur almost glowing in the light of the moon as she gazed at the tom with soft eyes as he explained, unable to hold back the giggle when he gestured to himself. “That’s the best part though.” She teased.
Sometime through his speech, Lilyfall’s smile began to fade as she began to suspect something going on. Green eyes searching his yellow as the words fell from his lips so easily. With each word that he spoke, her heart rate was beginning to pick up, throat drying with sudden nerves as she didn’t dare breathe too hard. Lilyfall felt as though she couldn’t breathe as the question she had been wanting to hear for so long fell from his lips, her eyes dropping down towards the shimmer of the emerald stone beneath his large paw. Where had that come from? Ears twitched as she heard paw steps behind them, looking over his shoulder to see her mother and brother stepping out from their hiding spot, along with Mintstrike smiling tenderly. “Of course!” She didn’t need anymore prompting.
Launching herself towards the large black and white tomcat, her tongue lapping at his cheeks as she purred loudly. Nuzzling her face into the thick scruff of his neck as she leaned into his side, unable to keep the smile off of his face as Mintstrike chuckled, simply happy for his kit. “I never thought you’d ask.” Lilyfall smirked playfully, her paw over the proposal stone protectively.
